Really? I ****ing loved The Green Knight. Tied with Dune as my favorite movie of 2021.

Billy Crudup is god.

Eternals lost me at some point. I wasn’t interested at all. It stayed on my TV through the credits, but I began to pay so little attention during the back half of it that I’m not sure I can truthfully say I fully watched it. Sure seemed like one of the weakest efforts of the MCU though.

Many Saints of Newark I can’t see watching. There are certain movies that have obvious built-in fanbases predisposed to liking the movie when it drops, and when those movies just get tepid reviews, that’s a particularly bad sign. If this movie gets a resounding “well, it’s not terrible…” from the Sopranos fanbase, I’m inclined to just steer clear.

I mistakenly saw it opening weekend. The only time the audience reacted was when Junior dropped his signature catchphrases

That was really it. I popped for the "varsity athlete" line. And even though Corey Stoll had a lot of the mannerisms down, he didn't seem right for the part for some reason. I actually thought it was fine, but it seemed to be over without anything really happening and I thought the twist was kinda silly.

On the other hand, I've heard rumors that he wants to make a sequel and this movie would make more sense as a part one.

I'm hear for the LKJ hot take on Brady's unretirement

Mostly just disappointed that a non-Seahawks team just left the Watson sweepstakes.

Nothing against Brady really, I'll enjoy watching him play again. Unretirements are annoying, but this didn't feel like a Brett Favre/Reggie White situation where the player mined for maximum attention-whoring value.

Also, noted hack Mike Florio had been relentlessly pushing the "Brady will find his way to be the 49ers QB next season" narrative, so if you told me that Brady was indeed going to be playing this year then I'm glad that scenario didn't work out.

I've caught up on The Mandalorian. It's fine. Surprised at the raves though.

I did actually like Bill Burr's reappearance on the show. And I liked the way Rosario Dawson played Ahsoka. I look forward to that series.

I think most of it was the animated stuff moving to live action that popped a lot of people. Also that thing at the end. It was more great moments than overall story maybe.

It seems likely to me that a clear majority of the Mandalorian audience are people who would never bother with the animated series. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, but I think it's just a significant portion of the TV/movie-watching population that maintains an odd skepticism of taking animated entertainment seriously as an adult.

Don't underestimate the power of the dark side.

My wife, who is heavy anti-cartoon loved Arcane. Surprised even me despite how good I found it. I recommended it as a "Hey, you may not like this because its animated, but the world building and time spent building the characters is really really well done."

Watched it with both her and my son and we all love it.

A month later (after first watch) and it still sticks with me. I find myself thinking of certain scenes at various points in the day. I haven't had a show hit me like that in a while. Prob BCS was my last big "I'm still thinking about last weeks episode a week later" show.

Ah yes, Saul, the most moral character in Breaking Bad.

I can't believe you ****ing remember that.

My logic was that it was his internal morality that never faltered.

It was bad logic.

Less controversial take, BCS > BB to this point. Gotta see how they stick the landing though.

I'm still a season behind on Better Call Saul because it has taken FOREVER to get to Netflix. I see that it's finally arriving in April though.

I feel like I'm less into it than I was into Breaking Bad, but I still like it a lot.

CODA is good. It is another movie unworthy of being Best Picture.

Given that the betting odds are indicating that CODA and The Power of the Dog are two parts of a three-way race with Belfast for BP, my optimism is not rising. Of the ones I've seen, there are no clunkers like we saw in Phantom Thread and Darkest Hour in recent years, but that's a pretty faint compliment.

Agree with this.

At the end of almost every BP nominee I've seen, I'm left thinking "That was pretty good" (King Richard being the lone exception). Not one has blown me away. There were 5 BP nominees last year that crush the entire set this year. Unfortunately none of those 5 won, so it's very likely that the winner here will be the 2nd best BP winner in the last 5 years.

It is looking like a rough damn card this year. I always tune in on the basis of "it's WrestleMania," but they're pushing it.

I have probably said this in the past myself, but it isn't. BCS has just always been nicely accessible as a BB watcher.

I'm reserving final judgement til August, but I've got it slightly ahead right now after a recent rewatch of both.
