Granted that he's only been in a few episodes up to the point that I'm at, but AP-5 might be the most entertaining droid character in the SW universe. Tallest smurf award, sure, but still.

Not enough Cobra Kai chatter in here.

Also, Happy New Year wrestling bros. Anybody watching Day 1 or whatever the **** is happening today?

Perhaps that's why he's getting his own show.

Spoiler:
I'm kidding. I don't remember who this even is without googling.

Good to see you, master. I didn't really care about Karate Kid when I was young, so I haven't tried Cobra Kai. Would I need to refresh myself on Karate Kid before giving it a go?

I used to be neutral on C-3PO, but after Clone Wars I kind of actively dislike him. R2-D2 is still okay. But in general, droid characters are awful but AP-5 is a fun troll. Obviously I wasn't expecting him to get a ton more play.

You absolutely don't need to be. I wasn't either. Fondly remembering the 80's may help though.

I'd add that while you don't have to remember everything about the movies (at least the Ralph Macchio led ones), it does help to remember the main characters and antagonists.

Pretty much this, but really, thats only for a few A-Ha! moments here or there. I think the show stands alone just fine. It includes flashbacks to the major plot points you need when those characters show up to not need to have watched the movies. I never watched III but the parts that you need to know from it are laid out really well.

Its a lot of fun. Its not the most perfect show out there, but damn I have a good time watching it. Johnny Lawrence is a fantastic caricature of the 80s.

4th season just dropped yesterday and I had a blast with it.

There is also some amazing fight choreography that us as wrestling fans should really appreciate

Thanks man, I say give it a go. Its one of those rare shows that finds its voice really really quickly, so no more than a few episodes should tell you if its for you or not.

The quality they got off of this little "What if we followed characters from an old 80s movie and see where they are today" youtube red show is pretty astounding. The fact that its going to end up as a 6 season Netflix show really blows my mind.

Fair enough, I’ll give it a go before long. As a child of the 80s I do enjoy some good 80s nostalgia.

Unrelated: this season of Curb has nosedived into a terrible place. The choice to heavily focus on this city councilwoman is dreadful. Two straight legitimately awful episodes now, and the season was already weak before that point.

Been watching movies that seem like they'll get 2022 Oscar nominations lately.

Still quite a few I haven't seen, so can't give a completely fair judgment yet, but the ones I've seen are pointing me to a very average year.

My favorite so far was somehow Dune. Hoping I'll see something better by the time I'm done, but it's not a disaster if I don't.

Worst by a healthy margin was King Richard. LOL if that gets a BP nom.

That's too bad. Always interested in your thoughts on the Oscar potentials.

Tick tick boom is my winner. I’m sure don’t look up will get vastly overrated but decent film

Tick Tick Boom is my current #2. Very enjoyable.

Don't Look Up was...fine? I didn't hate it, but a cast that includes 5 Oscar winners had my expectations significantly higher.

Watched The Lost Daughter last night and...

You know how basically everyone who claims to not give a **** is blatantly lying? Well this guy is lying way harder than most.

Need to watch dune still. Didn’t like the book very much so my hopes are pretty low

Didn't read the book, but the director has stated that he tried to be as true to the book as possible, although admitting that parts were difficult to impossible to translate to screen.

That said, I liked it with the caveat that it ends up being rather pointless if they don't make the second movie, which, last I read, wasn't even certain yet.

Yeah this is what someone told me, that the movie was basically only the first half of the book. Which makes me very skeptical, since the first half of the book seemed to contain very little material.

Finished Rebels. It's a good series. Jish, you should watch it so that we can have a full-spoiler discussion in here about it.

Dune sequel has already been greenlit. Will likely be 3 films total, encompassing the first two books.

Will do, LKJ. I’ve got some long nights ahead this month, will try to knock it out.

I'm going to finally get to Rogue One soon. Given how good its reputation is, I kept kind of just wanting to jump to it while watching these last two series.

Might be good time to knock out Rogue One since you're right there in the timeline anyway. Not saying this because it connects to the series in any way, but because it's the best Star Wars movie Disney has made. There are some fun easter eggs in there too if you look hard enough. (Edit: Nevermind. See you got there while I was writing this post.)

Not sure how much I can say w/o being spoilery, but I thought the ending was really strong and even may be setting up kinda where they may going with some live action stuff soon. Was also hoping in one episode near the end (and you'll know which I'm talking about w/o saying much) where I was hoping someone was going to find a pathway to stop the Disney sequels from being made.

On another note, just finished the series finale of Lucifer. More of a fun show than anything else, but they really gut punch you with some of the season finales.
