Watched a documentary on Netflix last night called Nobody Speak: Trials of the Free press. The majority of it was about the Hogan vs. Gawker trial. It also talked about Sheldon Adelson and when he bought out that newspaper in Vegas a few years back, and some Trump stuff. Pretty good stuff overall.

We decided we wanted pizza so I called the place. Ordered a medium 3 topping pizza, 16 wings, and fries and the total was $33 and change. I asked if they had any deals, they said no. As they were reading off the totals for each item to me (you know, the whole repeating the order thing to make sure it's right) I say "er, wait this is all more expensive than it is online. Cancel this sorry. I'm just gonna order it there". Went online to the website and got a large 3 topping pizza, 16 wings, and fries for $27 and change.


1. On a scale of 1-10 how "cheap" "tacky" whatever word you want to use is this? I thought it was totally normal since theres no reason to pay more money at the exact same place than I have to. Got a "really?" from someone, so maybe it isn't a 1 like I thought?

2. I wonder how much money I'm throwing away by not realizing the exact same (or better since i got a large instead of a medium!) product is being sold for cheaper in another place.

110 outside atm. My air conditioning was kind of working prior to yesterday, spitting out a house temp of 83. A guy comes to fix it...says it's good and leaves...temperature reaches 95 within a few hours. Needless to say, we didn't spend the night at home . Back to my house now and it's "fixed" again. We'll see. It's so ****ing hot

Re pizza gate: how'd you have the pricing for online off hand? That's the part that makes it seem weird. That said I'm terrible with money and wouldn't even have given pricing a second thought so I'm not gonna claim it's cheap more so than just well prepared

I guess this is my area of expertise here so I'll comment. I suppose there are some possible reasons for it, but your situation is the main reason why having separate prices and deals for phone ordering vs online ordering is completely dumb. You are only asking for trouble when doing this and best case scenario is what you did. Worst case is that someone discovers after the fact that they could have saved money ordering online and then feeling ripped off they never order from that place again.

I'm just curious was the website address you ordered from ran by the pizzeria or was it a third party? If it was third party maybe they were running a special trying to steer traffic to them or something. If it was ran by the pizzeria maybe they are trying to grow their online ordering profile. Again it's dumb no matter what.

To answer your 2nd question though, you might be spending more by not doing your research, but then you need to weigh the potential money saved vs how much time you spend doing said research. If it's worth it to you than go for it, if not it's probably best to just keep doing it the way you currently are

oh it was just pizza hut. i remembered the pricing as they read it off cause i ordered online a couple weeks ago and the wings were $5 for 8 if you bought a pizza instead of the 7-8 for 8 they quoted on phone

Pizza hut does fries?

Anyone have any recommended destinations for my bachelor party? Going to be 7 or 8 of my good buddies. Ages ranging from 25-35. Current ideas are Vegas, Playa, Montreal, New Orleans, or Cuba. We are pretty big beer/food lovers. I'm sure we will want a little debauchery, but not solely. 3-4 days.

Can't go wrong with Vegas, especially if you're into food and don't mind paying for it.

Even most subpar pizza falls into the category of "at least it's pizza." But not Papa Johns. Holy **** that stuff is bad.

For the coin flip of that most recent Pats/Giants SB (2012 I believe), Papa Johns did that promotion where if the coin landed on either heads or tails, I can't remember which, everyone who signed up in advance would get a free large pizza. The coin landed on the winning side, so yay, free pizza. I cashed in that free pizza and found that I regretted even doing that.

I remember Papa Johns being excellent 18-20 years ago. Not sure what happened in the meantime.

My recent pizza victory was calling Dominoes. Basically I just wanted a bunch of large pepperoni pizzas for our movers with some wings on the side. The dude on the phone reconfigured a bunch of coupon offers to get me the best price. Wound up being 3 x large pepperoni and a side of wings for $36.

I'm pretty sure I lost 2 years of my life after reading this post
