Dvo,
I'm pretty sure I never root for any of your teams and will continue to not do so, but...congrats, I suppose.

Thanks man. I'm gonna mark out so hard seeing Mario hoist the Cup again.

Same here. That was a hell of a game.

To be fair, my hockey fandom is casual and my opposition to the Pens is mostly just Steeler overflow hate. Anyway, enjoy it, game certainly delivered.

That's being said, the absence of a continuation rule to allow for goals on early whistles that don't affect play is ridiculous and should be reviewed in the offseason.

Whistle or not, That puck goes into the net.

I approve of this result. Now I just have to patiently wait for OKC to drift fully into the abyss as a franchise.

Seems to be an unpopular opinion based on audience reviews and conversations, but I thought Wonder Woman sucked and It Comes At Night was brilliant

And as almost all movies Ill preface, I have 0 build up or trailer viewing before movies. I know very little about what is actually in theaters at all times. Feel like that keeps me from any new years syndrome with things

I'm interested to watch Wonder Woman once it's out on blu-ray...I haven't even bothered reading reviews for it since an undue percentage of the population seemed to make firm plans to either like it or not like it before they ever saw it (more so than with most movies). In related news, people are quite stupid.

PJ, are you saying reviews for It Comes at Night were bad? Because Ive seen nothing but good, and Im pretty hype to see it. Considering how much I enjoyed Don't Breathe, I have high hopes.

Critical reviews seem to be good, audience seems to be bad. Rotten tomatoes audience score is terribad. I'm sure most people hand wave those but in general I feel like the good movies tend to be in agreement between the two. Also most people I have talked to disliked it and expected something very different. I had no expectations and loved it so ymmv

I hand-wave Rotten Tomatoes in general and think IMDb ratings are far more reliable.

I dislike all the dc movies so far and like the genre in general. I've found Dawn of Justice and Batman v Superman to be far too dark, brooding, and serious to be enjoyable. There's a time and place for those movies but "alien superhero fights other alien in a worldwide destructive battle and then fights billionaire superhero" didn't seem like it for me.

I didn't like suicide squad despite wanting to really badly. I think the post filming adjustments were brutal.

I expected to not see wonder woman. The reviews made me shrug and check it out on half price movie day.

It's ****ing awesome. It is by far the best DC movie and it rivals the vast majority of marvel ones as well. Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite one, but this one is right in the next tier along with Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, and Civil War.

They finally struck the right balance of seriousness and lightheartedness. Gal Gadot did a great job and the character they gave her was equal parts bad ass, endearing, charming, and right. The action sequences were filmed well if that's what you're into and there were a lot of cool moments. Story is good as well.

Go check it out in theaters imo.

Very rare for me to go to theaters anymore. When I do, it's always a function of "can't wait to see the movie" and little to do with seeing special effects on a huge screen or whatever.

Glad to see the good review though. I'll surely watch it one way or another even if I can't be prodded into doing it while it's still in theaters.

This is how I am. I'll be seeing three movies in the theater this year and none for effects reasons, but simply out of pure personal hype.

Baby driver, Dark Tower, and IT. Can't wait.

I am so excited for Dark Tower. I always envisioned it as an HBO series more than a movie, but I'm just thrilled it's got something finally. It's one of my three favorite book series ever.

Now we need it to do well enough that they make a sequel and have Aaron Paul cast as Eddie Dean.

Haven't read a single book in that series. I suppose I should remedy that soon, especially since I bothered to limp my way through King's mediocre Will Hodges trilogy during the past couple of months.

I enjoyed Mr. Mercedes but book 2 was incredibly full. Haven't gotten to end of watch yet.

Full recommendation on Dark Tower by the way. My personal favorite book series.

The first dark tower book is solid but slow, the second through fifth ones are all varying degrees of awesome, the sixth is the worst book i've ever read but is necessary, and the seventh is bad ass. Def suggest reading it.

If you like high fantasy, Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series is wonderful. The first one is again slow and rough (it throws you right into the middle without explaining anything but eventually makes sense). The second and third one are excellent, fourth one is great, fifth one is elite, sixth and seventh ninth and tenth are good, and book eight is the greatest thing i've ever read. The guy is excellent at character development, climaxes, and world building.

End of Watch gets the highest GoodReads average of that trilogy, but to me it was the weakest of the three. My suspicion is that the average may have gone up over the course of the trilogy simply by virtue of shedding casuals and continuing to be read by more hardcore King fans.

I went 3 star --> 3 star --> 2 star with that trilogy. Hodges himself is an enjoyable protagonist, but not enough to carry a series that effectively.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "high" fantasy, but I've just placed Gardens of the Moon on my wish list in any case.

Ah, "high fantasy" is actually a common term. I could have just searched to begin with I suppose. Yeah, I can get into that stuff.

Truthfully I don't know the difference. I just know that's where I had to search for it at barnes and noble when I bought them.

Wiki says that high fantasy is set in an alternate world instead of this one.
