I can't believe you're still rocking a Red Wings logo in your avatar when you're not a Red Wings fan.

I know, right? I almost always use the app so I never worry about my avatar.

I see that Zoolander 2 is getting reviews that confirm that it's a comedy sequel. Ah well.

lol
called my dad to make sure i had the time right for some family thing this weekend just now and in the middle hear "OW! HE LANDED ON HIS FACE". Asked him wtf that was and he said it was my mom. They were apparently watching NJPW on tv and styles german suplexed ibushi outside onto his face.
I was unaware they watched njpw (said they only catch it when they flip through and its on, but still)
that is amazing

Based on the age demographics I see for all the non-WWE wrestling shows, a lot of the people watching them probably are older casual fans. AXS I don't think actually publishes ratings but LU and TNA both have average age viewership around 50.

I bought a pair of shoes off of Amazon. Somehow it escaped my attention when I was buying them that they were square-toed. I was horrified when I made the realization. Not really even because they particularly looked bad, but just because I remember suzzer being beaten to within an inch of his life in OOT when he posted pictures of his square-toed shoes.
**** it; I'm wearing these to work anyway. I can never find the WIM to ship things back to Amazon.

There's really quite the delayed reaction on this sexual misconduct stuff. The Cosby stories were out there for years, and then suddenly a random comedian calls it out in a set and the story catches fire. Looks like that may happen here too.
I realize that Cosby's actions and Peyton's are significantly different.

Yeah, you're just setting yourself up for letdown if you buy too strongly into an athlete being a good guy. Obviously there are some legit good guys out there in the sports world, but we basically can't ever label someone as one with any level of confidence. Someone playing a good guy to the media is really unreliable.

Haha WTF Halpert, there was no need to delete like a four-paragraph post. You said much more than I did.

Ok dilemma time. I've been mulling this over the past few hours and still don't have a clear idea of the best course of action.
I've recently applied for a new job, and I know I'm down to the final two candidates. I received an email from the hiring manager today asking me for the name and contact info of my current boss so he could get a reference. He specifically stated he needed to know who I directly work under.
The problem is, my current position doesn't know I am out looking and them finding out could put my job in serious jeopardy as they gave me a 16% raise less than 6 months ago (doesn't matter that I was underpaid to begin with, they have pointed out numerous times to me how big of a deal they think this is.)
If I don't get the second job and my current job finds out I'm looking, I could end up with no job at all. How do I respond to the hiring manger's email?
To make things even more complicated, the position I am applying for was recently vacated by my wife.

I assume you explained to the prospective employer that your current employer doesn't realize that you're looking?

Not yet, no. Thats kind of where I am stuck. I do not know how to compose an email explaining that without it coming off like I don't want him to contact my employer for reasons other than I don't want to jeopardize my current job.

It would be super weird of them not to understand why a presently-employed person doesn't want their employer to be contacted. This prospective employer is screwy if they insist that you gamble by consenting to them blowing your spot up.
It's a difficult situation, but just explaining your situation (not the specifics, just "my boss doesn't know I'm looking") seems like what I would land on. If that turns out to be a deal-breaker then that seems like a retroactive red flag anyway, and your current income stream remains secure. You would know from being in the situation how tenable this is, but can you pick up a phone and call him rather than torture yourself by trying to word an e-mail well enough? Just seems like the type of conversation that is easier dealt with talking human-to-human.

The idea of calling him didn't really cross my mind and I think that's the best option right now. I tend to be better at the written than spoken word, but we had a good rapport in the interview, and I think I'll be able to explain things a bit better over the phone than through email. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, no problem. I think that picking up a phone is often a good (and possibly underused) option in tough spots, because most people will soften at the sound of a human voice explaining that they're in a difficult position. Creates more immediate possibilities to negotiate the situation and see if there's another way. Seems to me like this is a clear spot for using the phone, rather than sending a non-committal non-answer via e-mail and then waiting on a response before having to recalculate and respond again.
Hopefully this is a situation where checking references is just a last formality before an offer.

Finally got around to catching up on some netflix shows. Definitely recommend master of none. 10 eps, <30 minutes each. So not too bad of a time commitment.
