Anyway, I agree on the Colts being the luckiest franchise in existence and their entitled fans not spending enough time going "OH MY GOD THIS IS RIDICULOUS IT'S LIKE WINNING THE LOTTERY WE DON'T POSSIBLY DESERVE THIS," which plays into why I just can't support them at all. I thought moving to Indiana meant that I would wish them well and perhaps even think of them as my favorite AFC team, but...no.

Theoretically my least favorite SB matchup available is Patriots-Packers just because it's two great veterans going at it for an additional ring, and while that could be a good game, it's a snoozer of a story. But the Seahawks play first next week, and I imagine that if we lose I would still end up rooting against the Colts in the later game because **** that.

If they're going to get the great pleasure of getting Hall of Fame quarterbacks under center back-to-back, the least the universe can do for us is to have them be the fanbase that is perpetually frustrated by how many chances they had and how few championships they won.

On the Oregon note, it's always interesting to me to find out how a region ranks fanbases of teams in their division/conference. Being from Florida (and continuing after moving to Texas) I never really encounter Oregon fans (or USC, Cal, UCLA, etc) so I had no idea they were consistently terrible. The only people I've encountered have been like myself - just people that enjoy watching their games when they catch them because a ton of points get scored.

I'm sad because tomorrow is the last time anything else I'm remotely interested will be on TV during Raw. So starting next week I might start watching Raw live again and honestly it doesn't sound too appealing. Are there any good shows that come on Monday night that last the duration of Raw?

I admire those who are able to watch live every week and sit through all the ad breaks and stuff they don't like

Sports Illustrated ran a poll back in 2009 that polled every fanbase in what was then the Pac-10 about other fanbases, which stadiums were the best and worst, etc. Oregon, before they even reached their first national title game, absolutely ran away with the "rudest fans" title. USC was still king of the conference at this point, and the results were something like
Oregon - 60%
USC - 15%
etc.
etc.
etc.

It was very telling. Unfortunately I can't find the original article anymore (I found a link to it, but the link is dead and I can't even find a cached version that works), but this is an article about it.

http://www.katu.com/news/local/72208072.html

They were far and away the least popular fans in the conference before they even hit their current peak of success. Just absolute pieces of ****.

Me?

Umm...

You are correct, I am not a true Huskies fan. I thought the real giveaway was when I devoted multiple lengthy profanity-laced rants to the Huskies being my least favorite team in all of the sports universe, but I guess rooting for the Ducks over Ohio State is another tell.

The Huskies suck, man. They really aren't worth all the hate you devote to them.

The funny thing is that the only reason I can root for Oregon over Ohio State at all is "because it will piss the Husky fans off even more than it pisses me off, and in that I will find comfort."

Meh, I don't know why success should be a prerequisite to hating a team.

In 2008, when the 1-10 Cougars defeated the 0-11 Huskies on a late comeback in the final game of the season, that was the greatest thing ever.

“We’re just really spirited,” said one Ducks fan. “Some people might misinterpret that.”
This is enough right here to let me know the claims against them are accurate. Never in my life have I seen the "just really spirited" defense be used by someone that wasn't just trying to justify their jackassery when called out on it.

Edit:
Quote:
Almost 83 percent of all Huskies voted Oregon fans the worst, followed by 67 percent of all voting Beavers. Additionally, roughly 59 percent of ballot-casting Cougars voted Ducks fans the worst.
When two places that hate each other like Washington and Washington State both agree that despite their hatred of each other, you're much much worse ... well I'm afraid I've got some bad news.

Edit 2:

Quote:
“It’s unfortunate we had the entire state of Washington vote against us,” said a University of Oregon student who identified himself as “Grim Duck.” “They’re just mad because they lost six years in a row to the No. 1 program in the Northwest.”
Ah, the YOURE JUST BUTTHURT defense. Another telling sign.

Yeah I was going to mention that. When a person or group of people comes off terribly in their own side of the story, that's always pretty telling.

I was being sarcastic. Except the Huskies sucking part, that much is true.

When picking a college team this past summer, I considered the Ducks because Chip Kelly coaches the Eagles, but figured I'd be bandwagoning because the Ducks are one of the top teams in the country. So I picked the Huskies. Terrible choice so far. I thought about trolling you here during the Apple Cup, but figured there was no point. Neither team is any good.

Back in 2003, Oregon crushed Michigan in the Big House, appeared to be a national title contender, and was on the cover of Sports Illustrated that week. The following week, the Cougars went into Eugene and crushed them so badly that the game was way past over at halftime. Oregon never recovered that season. We headed off that variation of the ebola strain. Unfortunately we couldn't stay strong forever.

Was Chip Kelly the first coach to run the hurry up style of offense? I find it amazing that nobody ever thought or tried to use it before him. Now everybody else is trying to catch up.

I mean, no-huddle offense was around quite a while before Chip Kelly. I don't know that anyone ran it at the same pace as Oregon did. I never rooted for him at all (except against Washington), but it was a good thing to be introduced into the game.

Peyton's Colts were the closest thing to Chip's offense in the pre-Chip era, I'd say.

Did your Washington buddy go to the Oregon vs Washington game this year? I remember you mentioning something earlier in this thread about him going every year hoping the Huskies finally beat them.

Nah he didn't this time. Said he ended up needing to work that weekend and couldn't get it off. I would have preferred "succumbed to me obnoxiously mocking him for years," but I'll take it.

Well, I was rooting for them but Oregon not shipping the title is just fine. They're extremely difficult to root for (unless it's against Washington). If my team can't become a contender, I'd far sooner see a California team repping the conference.

You know what my favorite Terrell Owens moment was? The time that he spit in an opponent's face during a game, and then when the player mentioned it after the fact to the media and the media asked Owens, he responded, "Yeah, I did it, I'm man enough to admit that...<insert rest of explanation here>"

I'm man enough to admit to spitting in someone's face

That's a truly amazing thing. Somehow he was complimenting himself while admitting to a disgusting act.

MLB Network is solid value for $25/month if you're inclined to watch baseball most days during the season. I do wish the instances of having to stop and buffer were less frequent, but I'm still satisfied and keep subscribing.

For half the season until the Mariners are out?

I'm the same way with the Phillies. Once they bomb in the first half of the year, it's tough to keep watching them lose on a nightly basis.
