It's awful. Makes me absolutely furious. Colts lose in the playoffs to New England last year and my Facebook populates with a bunch of "that's okay, Peyton will beat them" posts. **** you.

Here's one Facebook post that a Colt friend of mine proudly put up in January after that playoff loss.

And like, I get wishing your former players well. For the time that Hasselbeck started in Tennessee after leaving in Seattle I hoped he did well. To this day, despite limited viewing of the NBA, I pull for Ray Allen when I see him playing.

However, I do not take the next step and adopt those teams as if they're my own, because if I did that someone should shoot me in the face.

This. You know what happened when Jason Schmidt (one of my favorite pitchers ever) went to the Dodgers? I said, **** that guy. I'm lucky that two of my all timers never went to another team, Bonds and Brodeur. I would have wished them both well (Brodeur may still play elsewhere though I hope he doesnt) but I wouldn't have been a fan of their new teams

I didn't become a Chiefs fan when Montana made the move, nor a Raiders fan when Rice showed up there.

And I mean I try to avoid being the fan who hates anyone who voluntarily leaves their team. That seems like a bad look too. I hated that the Seattle fans who loved Golden Tate spewed a bunch of hate at him when he signed in Detroit, especially since it's obvious that the Seahawks didn't truly try to re-sign him anyway. But they play for another team now and my team loyalty doesn't shift an inch. It's 100% for my team in each sport, full stop.

(Tate may not be the best example since he may have been banging Russell Wilson's wife last season, and if he was then **** that guy, but still.)

They do fine for what they are; college football is a world of natural haves and have nots, and of course the school out in the middle of the wheatfields in eastern WA is only going to be able to do so much in an attempt to be consistently competitive with schools twice our size in LA, Phoenix, Seattle, and the Bay Area. Recruiting against basically every other conference school is tough sledding. So it is what it is; you hope to hit lightning in a bottle and spike a couple of great recruiting classes once in a while, and hope to parlay that into the occasional Rose Bowl (our last was in 2003).

It's just that if a person was going to randomly latch onto a college football team, it wouldn't make much sense to latch onto one that is at inherent competitive disadvantages with everyone they compete with. It would make more sense to latch onto a team like UW who at least recruits to a major metro area and seems to have a significant amount of media in their back pocket.

Granted that the fanbase is the biggest bunch of delusional ****ing idiots to grace the planet (they literally ALWAYS think that the Huskies are far better than they are, they CONSTANTLY think they're right on the brink of being a national power), and worse yet they're arrogant as hell based purely on...I don't know. They seem to think that the fact that they were elite for a few seasons nearly a quarter of a century ago gives them license to be delusional and arrogant forever. At least other programs' fanbases offer reason for their fans to be cocky. And at least I can proudly say that my own school's fans keep it real at almost all times with regard to how good or bad we can reasonably expect to be. To hell with UW, they're the absolute worst thing in the world.

In conclusion: enjoy your new team, Dylan!
I only latched onto this team because the Riders (my CFL team) signed Keith Price a few weeks ago. I googled him, watched Youtube clips and thought he was pretty awesome. So I'm officially awaiting the Keith Price era in the CFL. lol

I watched my first UW game on Saturday and picked up on a few things I hate:

- Every time the Huskies score any type of points, they blast this horn off. It's like a hockey goal horn. So annoying.

- The commentators would refer to them as "the Dogs." I hate that! Made me think of the Georgia Bulldogs.

I'm sure I'll grow to hate more as I view more games and learn about the players and such.

Maybe it's a dumb reason to jump on a team's wagon, but I've been trying to get into college football for years and figured this was an okay reason. I once tried to support Penn State, but could never fully commit. I look at that as a good thing now.

I'm an Eagles fan, and the only players I've really ever wished well were Dawkins and Westbrook. I wasn't a fan/alive during the Cunningham years, but I'm sure I would have wished him well, too. I was also still a fan of DeSean Jackson up until last Sunday when he kept taunting the crowd. **** him.

My brother is a Colts fan and it is awful. He does the things previously mentioned in this thread.

Few things make as little sense to me as people thinking that it's OMG HILARIOUS when they have the same hand as someone else in poker.

River: <blank>
Player 1: bets
Player 2: calls
Player 1: tables KQ
Player 2: tables KQ
Player 1 and Player 2 (usually): HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Me: wat

Nothing was more infuriating for me than when either:
A) You have the same hand, and its near nut hand so you assumed you were about to win a ton of money, only to lose money to the rake
B) You have the same hand and realize how easily you could have taken the pot by making them fold

Well, I mean set over setting was more infuriating obviously.

Also, I was completely unaware of the existence of Draft Kings and **** like that where you bet on fantasy football. Im sure its been talked to death on this forum, but this just made me angry. You can literally bet money online on how a bunch of random athletes will perform, but you cant play a ****ing card game thats been around for centuries?!

I mean...obviously the illegality of poker is a huge joke, but I guess I'm desensitized to the ridiculous arguments that got it banned anyway.

The moral arguments against it from the same bureaucrats that shamelessly support the lottery are the real low point I think.

I suppose its less the hypocrisy and more the jealously of listening to coworkers talk about it the way I used to talk poker with friends. I miss that niche

STOP ****ING GETTING EXCITED YOU IMBECILES! God there's nothing that makes me as furious as watching UW fans delude themselves over and over again. They're 21-point dogs again. They consistently get ****ing rolled in this series. Seriously, they lose 11 in a row, the closest loss coming by 17 and an average margin of defeat of over 23 points, and every year they convince themselves that it's the year. It's not the year. IT'S NEVER THE YEAR. Failure to know one's place in the world has to be the biggest and most annoying leak of all.

Really the only question in my mind is whether I would prefer yet another boring 21+-point loss, or whether I would prefer that they finally make it a close game for the first time in a dozen years and then lose in some terribly heartbreaking fashion. On one hand, they would actually have some far-fetched semblance of rational thought for being stupidly hopeful next year, and I wouldn't be able to be quite as mad at them for hoping. On the other hand, at least their hearts would be shattered into a million pieces. Guess I'll just take another UW loss however I can get it.

Thanks for helping crush my hopes, LKJ. To be fair, I had no idea UW always gets rolled by the Ducks. In my short time as a fan, I think UW's offense is pretty bad. I mean, they owned Cal on Saturday, but it looked to me that a lot of it had to do do with Cal self destructing than anything the Huskies did.

PS: If the Huskies do win, I will bump this thread to lol.

Well talk to a UW fan and they'll tell you how they used to win against Oregon all the time, back when Ken Griffey Jr. was a rookie.

I have a good friend here in Indiana, a UW alum who I went to law school with, who actually flies to Eugene or Seattle every year for the game, because he insists that he's going to be there in person when they finally beat the Ducks again. I've explained to him that he's a stupid moron who is acting like a losing slot machine player, but he's pretty persistent on this point. We do share a love of the Seahawks and Mariners though.

Incidentally, I will say this one thing that Husky fans are correct about: Oregon is the devil. I ****ing hate those sons of bitches too. But this is the week every year that I sell my soul and go full green and gold.

Wait.... so they were losing to Oregon pre-Chip Kelly? I can imagine what the games are like since they started using the hurry up offense. I guess I'll see for the first time on Saturday.

Mike Bellotti was pre-Chip and was successful as well. He had them winning at least one BCS bowl. Nearly had them in the title game one year.

Well, I guess I'm supposed to hate the Ducks, but I really can't. I love the hurry up offense and I'm a huge fan of Chip Kelly.

What's all the hoopla around Chris Peterson? I don't think he's that great.
Wrestling OT/LC Thread: We'll Stop Talking About Star Wars Eventually Quote
10-15-2014 , 08:27 AM
The hoopla is that he once called the mother****ing Statue of Liberty play in the Fiesta Bowl and Oklahoma failed to stop it, and that he beat up San Jose State and Louisiana Tech a bunch of times thereafter. I will never forgive Oklahoma for that fact and have been frothing at the mouth about that game ever since it happened almost 8 years ago. Fitting that he went on to become Washington's coach.

(I actually had a third paragraph ranting about the UW worship of Petersen before he's done anything in that post I made above, but I figured a two-paragraph rant about a program mostly nobody cared about reading a rant about was probably good enough and I left it there.)

There's really nothing more tilting than talking to customer support chat. They spend all of this time on niceties when I just want them to get to the point. And obviously the service rep isn't to blame; he's just following protocol as instructed from above. But it's always this:

Me: <complete question with all info he needs>
-2 minute wait-
Them: Hello!
Me: Hello.
-2 minute wait-
Them: I'm sorry to hear that. I will be happy to assist you.
-2 minute wait-
Them: But first, how are you doing today?
Me: Doing well, thanks.
-2 minute wait-
Them: Great!
-1 minute wait-
Them: Glad to hear that you're doing well.

By this point in the conversation I'm just losing my mind. I'm not trying to online date you dude, I just want an answer to my question. I wouldn't even mind a moment of pleasantries (the kind that you can get through in 10-15 seconds on the phone), but it seriously feels like I have to put in like 5 minutes of effort just to get through it with online support.
