The 4 letter word was a vulgar version of poop.

Seriously,

"Game this Sunday at 8 at the Sasktel Soccer Centre. Please confirm your attendance by liking this post."

Give them 2 or 3 days to like, then look for subs if there aren't enough people, or contact the 2 or 3 that haven't liked to confirm if they are coming or not. So much easier and more convenient than sending out a mass text, going through all the responses, keeping a list, then figuring it out from there.

Hell, I've been in a group where the admin made an event for every game on our schedule at the start of the year and people just confirmed a few days in advance. That was smoother than baby turd.

Seriously, if you have 100 FB friends (a small list by any measure), and 15 of them wish you a happy birthday, that's 15 personalized responses to come up with. I wasn't just going "Thanks!" I don't really know how many birthday posts I got, but yeah you get the idea.

Exclamation marks are the worst. Really drives me crazy that I can't get anyone on board with the Ben Franklin test, where you only use an exclamation mark if you honestly think that he would have.
I'll report in on Sunday with how many birthday wishes I get, and how I respond to them. I expect to feel sad with low turnout.

I can see how this works well for you, but am struggling a bit with where a person becomes a ****hole for not doing this...

Incidentally, there's also nothing wrong with not having a TV. Now being one of those douchebags who brags about not having a TV, that's awful. Those ****ing ****holes should be kicked in the junk until they pass out from the pain. But I mean it's not an actual social imperative to have one.

But to tie it back in with Facebook, here is an incredibly douchey status update from one of my Facebook friends.

Quote:
My family has made the financial, social and spiritual decision to get rid of cable for the foreseeable future. Withdrawals will be starting soon.
I was this dude's best man once upon a time. I feel like I should ask for a refund on the tux rental or something. Holy ****.

The person becomes a ****hole because chances are he's the one guy on the team, in the group, or imperative to the event that needs to be contacted in a different way than everyone else. People are now catering to this douchbag rather than him having an account that he uses for only this purpose. He's selfish because he's not willing to bite this absolute bare minimum of the bullet for the betterment of the group.

If not for your violent opposition to ibuprofen, I would definitely consider your extreme level of venom for non-Facebookers to be your strangest opinion that I know of.

Because you use FB a lot for organizing social stuff, and consider it to be awesomely efficient, you take the jump of not only believing that society as a whole SHOULD use it for this purpose, but in fact already DOES use it for this purpose. I mean...some do and some don't. It's pretty clear to me that this varies significantly by social circle (this much is mostly made clear to me by how often my friends and I get together for functions and how rarely Facebook is used as a medium for getting it together; I doubt we're THAT uncommon in our approach of using text/e-mail much more than FB).

Even if you're right about how commonplace that usage is in social circles using it for get-togethers, there are so many selfish acts done that inconvenience people way more than to cause a person to have to send a single extra text or e-mail to invite someone. I don't know; your passion on this is beyond my comprehension.

I took a picture of myself throwing my LeBron jersey in the trash the other day and posted it to Facebook. It was totally worth it.

Happy early birthday, dnky. (because I'll probably forget on Sunday).

Cannot even imagine the justification that someone would come up with for three consecutive exclamation marks.

I'm with LKJ on the exclamation mark debate. Unnecessary. I sometimes use it at the end of "thanks" or when I'm being intentionally sarcastic, but I do and have utilized the Franklin test in the past, but I believe we call it the Diefenbaker test up here.

Admittedly I do think that they can be well-placed sarcastically, and I don't have the first damn clue if Ben Franklin would have engaged in such behavior. So if there's a way that I break my own rule, it's that.

I don't really understand why people consider jeans to be so comfortable.

There's people that consider them comfortable?

I thought that was a pretty widespread opinion. In multiple office jobs I've had, they act like they're doing everyone some big ****ing favor if they give permission for people to wear jeans on a given day.

Late to the party on this but:

My birthday present to myself is not caring about responding to people who wish me happy birthday on Facebook.

Im a jeans and t shirt guy. I like a loose fitting pair of jeans, too tight is just awful. But my job requires jeans, so I make sure to get comfortable ones.

Also, an email I just received;

Hello dnkyhunter31,

We at Two Plus Two Poker Forums would like to wish you a happy birthday*today!

Happy birthday dink

Also I can wear anything i want to work, so it frequently involves jeans. I find them more comfortable than slightly nicer pants like dockers or chinos. Lkj, what do you consider comfortable that is suitable for leaving the house?

Also, off topic, but what is everyone's opinion on weird AL?
