To be fair, Pete's done a pretty great coaching job this year and I ***** about him a lot less than I have the last few years. That was just such a needless loss last night. Ah well; a few losses are inevitable for a team with this shaky of a defense. (Which again is why you coach that last drive aggressively rather than handing off three times and then cross your fingers that the defense will hold the lead.)

To be fair, I was a big fan dating back to the early 90s, and there was a LOT of **** to wade through to get to the good years.

Yeah the fact of not having Chris Carson available makes the whole thing that much worse. Carson definitely bails Pete out in that spot more often than Hyde ever does.

I really like this post. Would have like an exclamation in there at some point, so 99/100!

It's pretty difficult to slap an exclamation mark onto any of those sentences without bastardizing the whole post.

Just one of either of the two last sentences.

I'm not sure if I've ever seen LKJ use an exclamation point in a post.

Loosen up, Lorne!

I use them where appropriate.

My stance is actually the most loving one toward exclamation marks; I'm the one trying to allow them to maintain their value in the punctuation hierarchy. Through no fault of their own, they've been overused to a point of wild stupidity.

Not true!

I never understand why there's a pro-exclamation lobby. Like, people want to stand up and defend their right to degrade written communication as a concept? Weird ****.

I once was stuck in a conversation with someone who told me that Felix Hernandez wasn't that great and didn't deserve the Cy Young the year he won it, because his W/L record was underwhelming, and because he doesn't "pitch to the scoreboard" and keep runs off the board when his team doesn't have a lead. When I tried to argue with him, he attempted to foreclose on my right to do so because he played college baseball and I didn't.

That's surely one of my 50 least favorite conversations in the history of my life.

As trivial least favorite conversations go, it still doesn't feel like it rates as highly as the time I talked to a rando in 2001 or 2002 who confidently declared, in between the release of the first and second movie, that The Two Towers was certain to be better than The Fellowship of the Ring because "we already know it has way more battle scenes." I can only refer to him as "a rando" because of course I avoided ever talking to him again even though he lived in the same building.

(Two Towers is definitely better than Fellowship, which of course is beside the point.)

Work is doing a division-wide meeting tomorrow that doubles as something of a Halloween party (over the internet). They said "costumes optional." I would decline that option, but since I'm in a supervisory role I feel like there's implied pressure to play along in some way, so I went down the road to the Halloween store, and eventually shrugged and emerged with a Star Wars stormtrooper mask. I'll just throw that mask on and call it good; we're only participating from the chest up anyway.

If I was dealing with a more cultured crowd, maybe I'd put the effort into gluing glitter all over the mask and saying that I'm The Shockmaster.

Finished Season 2 of Silicon Valley. Rather enjoying it. I think we kind of like Gavin Belson although he is our enemy. I also really like the lady that took over for Peter Gregory, but can't think of her name.

Her name is Lori, she has some great scenes coming up in later seasons.

How do you mention watching S2 and not give thoughts on Russ Hanneman?

Russ isn't that funny.

We didn't really question him about not liking Erlich in season 1, but that's the much weirder thing so far.

Eh. Russ, douche with some funny moments.

I came around on Ehrlich a bit, but just in general find the excessive crudeness suboptimal. Something about him just doesn't jive with me.

I really enjoyed the (former) attorney Monohan, and hope he shows up more.

I don't IMDB an already ran series until I finish so as not to spoiler based on episode counts.

The doctor who also played Ben Franklin on The Office is always funny when he shows up.

Ha wow, I didn't realize that was him. Can't figure out why Richard keeps going to him.

How can you not like him? Look at that acting! The excitement immediately followed by devastation is outstanding.

From the commentary booth of the IU-Rutgers game: "And they're going to go for it here on 4th down, and trust that their defense will hold things in place if they don't get it."

I feel like I just spotted a unicorn. An announcer acknowledging that "trust your defense" doesn't somehow automatically mean punting? I didn't know they were capable of that.
