I don't have any personal list of the best Larry David deliveries on Curb, but responding to the doctor's aggressive rant with "I think you blew him" would surely land somewhere in the top 10.

Latest episode is great. I did not remember Randy Johnson ridiculously trying to throw several innings in game 5 of that 1995 Mariners-Yankees series. Really I can't say that I remembered many of the details of that series at all 25 years later, aside from the ending that I've watched on a loop for decades.

I'm a little puzzled by exactly where they go with this series. Record-breaking 2001, just short of the playoffs in 2002 and 2003, then a drop off a cliff in 2004 and very few years of playoff contention after that. I'm interested to see what they dig up about the weird sudden resignation of Mike Hargrove in 2007 though.

This is obviously the type of continuity wonkiness I can be forgiving of because frankly it would take too much time and/or expectation of the audience's memory to really circle back to the start of her character, but...at the end of The Office, Erin's biological parents really shouldn't be so happy to accept that the whole world has renamed her "Erin."

My God. There's a late-season Christmas episode of Frasier where Frasier utters the cringey joke of "low elf esteem."

I always remember Jerry Lawler busting out that joke on Raw, and it seeming like his true rock-bottom moment as a commentator. I had no idea that absolute greasefire of a joke walked among us before that.

Anyone mocking someone for trying to raise some Christmas spirit must have some real low elf worth

Master,
I was amped for the next Mariner episode to drop. Then I saw the title and subtitle - “The Seattle Mariners build a Death Star - David becomes Goliath” - and my enthusiasm evaporated. This is when the pain begins.

I had no idea about the AL/NL draft thing and how the Mariners shouldn't have even really had Arod or KGj

Whenever I see clips trying to frame Griffey as Mr. Congeniality, I immediately think of this interview.

Man, they really memory-holed a lot with that abbreviated section where Griffey ended up in Cincinnati. They said he asked for a trade and ended up in Cincy.

He demanded a trade, publicly announced that there were only four teams that he would go to and would exercise his no-trade clause if he were traded anywhere else, then admitted that he would also veto any trade to one of those teams if the team gave Seattle too much to get him. Under the circumstances it was amazing that we could have even come away from that situation with a player as good as Mike Cameron, because Griffey basically publicly demanded that one of four teams of his choosing be allowed to completely fleece the Mariners.

Ken Griffey Jr Presents Major League Baseball was far and away the game growing up that got the most hours out of me. I used to play the crap out of that game

It was a tremendous game.

(Batters yelling at the ump after striking out swinging was a flaw.)

What I love about liking sports is that whilst I like a lot of sports I literally have **** all idea what you are even talking about or who that man is.

If only I know what a mariner was.

edit - Slightly more seriously (although that is serious) I was born in 92 and obviously got somewhat caught up in the hype of Michael Jordan being that he was a god sportsman (space jam ftw, I'd say otherwise but I watched it a few days ago and it's not awful). At the same time from UK basketball isn't really a thing in teh same way so whilst I know bits from my interest I'm much less informed than your below average NBA fan, but this new documentary seemed awful to me. It jumped all over the place, the "new" insights were boring. Thought it did a lot wrong.

Frasier finally gets bad in season 11.

Framed differently: it's super impressive that it was really good for 10 straight seasons. I can't immediately think of another show I can say that for.

I'm 27 but I genuinely struggle to think of people that even come close to me liking them for 10 years never mind tv shows. if a TV show is meant to last for that long it certainly isn't meant to with me (read you) as their main audience. I more mean this in that I have friends I meet again after a few years and think wow you are no longer my friend. I have a few friends I have known since my teenage years but that's a growing together for reason (slightly) and doing so as it's a closer group. Nothing pulling on it from the outside (I say that as I fall out with friends due to their long term gfs/wives/babies)

The simpsons (essentially)

I’ve been watching through Simpsons on Disney Plus and I’m already noticing it weakening a bit in season 6. Its peak beats Frasier’s for sure, of course. If sacrificing one into non-existence, I dump Frasier every time. But I’m dubious that I’m going to agree that Simpsons went strong for 10 straight seasons.

Mostly strong. You have a few stinkers i. 9 and 10, and 1 is fairly weak overall, but if you think 6 is the peak, you are wrong. There are no misses in 7 and 8. If you find one let me know cause I dont remember there being one.

Edit: yeah I just went through the entire episode list of S7 and S8, and there is MAYBE one meh episode (Burns Baby Burns) and one episode that is hard to categorize (Simpsons Spin Off Showcase) but S7 is flawless. Even its clip show is brilliant. I also dont think it's fair to judge clip shows from S3-S6 as actual episodes, so if you take the clip show out of S6, I also have it as flawless.

So over the span of three seasons 6-8, roughly 75 consecutive episodes, there is MAYBE two episodes that arent fabulous television.

It's an incredible streak, and probably goes longer than that as S4 and S5 are also both very very good.

Damn, I just reviewed the S6 episode list and its soooooo good. What's the worst episode of S6? Maybe Grandpa vs. Sexual Inadequacy? Or Homer Vs Patty and Selma? Neither one of those is anything other than good to great on their own, just comparatively to the rest of the season they are ok.

Do shows not get credit for going very long with some ass eps but generally being very good? I think the simpsons does that very well.

Just looked at the list of Simpsons S6 episodes and saw that Lisa's Wedding was in there.

Was wondering when it was supposed to be set.

The answer is:
Spoiler:
10 years ago. Ugh.

When I find myself taking the negative side of a Simpsons argument, even while trying to heap praise upon it, it’s hard to shake the feeling that mistakes were made.
