(Yes I went and started manually looking it up after we again gave up a score after going up 11.) They never, ever, ever just run away with a game even when they have the other team overmatched.

This was pretty similar to our game in Philly earlier in the year. A little tighter, but similar in that the result always felt likely even though they refused to just lock it up.

Didn't realize it was the exact same final score as our prior Eagle game. The bit about it being tighter is still true, because the Eagles only pulled within 8 with a late TD in that one.

I'm assuming that FOX executives want a Super Bowl between Kansas City and either Green Bay or Seattle. (State Farm DEFINITELY wants KC/GB)

They're not going to be happy if Tennessee or Minnesota somehow make it.

Surely they would prefer GB over Seattle. Way more of a national fan base. Certainly agree that Minnesota would be their least favorite MFC option given that Cousins is the least marketable QB and there’s nothing about them that really makes up for that. And yes, Tennessee is probably even worse to them.

By the way, is there even a contest for ugliest base uniforms (not counting gimmick stuff like color rush) in the league? To me it's the Titans by SUCH a wide margin. I can't readily come up with the second worst.

This being said, and I only remembered about this since my last post, but: if SF goes over as expected on Saturday, the absolute shellacking they put on GB earlier this season would probably be reason enough for people to go into Sunday not wanting to see a Packers-Niners rematch when the alternative is the rubber game of a season series where both games went down to the last play.

I'm not surprised since he tried to go to Tennessee two years ago and it fell apart really publicly. I'm also not too crestfallen, to be honest. It was certainly a successful run; he took us from being an absolute joke to being a pretty good program, so we're in much, much better shape than when he arrived. However, the fact that he always made me look the other way on him being an *******, combined with the fact that we were consistently horrible against UW and in bowl games under him, softens the blow a fair bit. Thing that sucks the most is that if we get a replacement who runs a significantly different system, 2020 becomes a punt in the same way that Leach's first year with WSU was.

We have an AD who I like a lot, and I have faith that he will hire well.

Pat Forde trying to say that Jim Mora Jr. could be in the mix.

If they so much as interview that mother****er, I take back the nice things I’ve said about our AD. I really can’t imagine a hire infuriating me more.

Thankfully I don’t truly believe that report.

Imagine being the Cowboys and hiring Mike fkn McCarthy who then goes and grabs Tomsula, Nolan, and Fassel the younger lol. It's a whos who of rejects forming some uber reject staff

Maybe they could come out to The Oddities' music.

Yeah, Cowboys honestly may as well have just kept going with Garrett if McCarthy was going to be the replacement. I'm not even sure that isn't a downgrade. At the same time, not at all surprised that Jerry Jones would make that hire.

Last week the Titans win and the coverage is all "was that the end of Tom Brady in New England?" I see that this week it's all about Baltimore choking.

I understand the coverage, but I'd be getting pretty irritated with this if I were a Titans fan. They've played great, are in the conference championship, and can't even find their way into the headlines of their own games.

I played catch-up on this during the weekend. When I saw this post though, I obviously had to know exactly what context he came up in.

My watching of Jeopardy comes and goes, so I saw some of Ken (once he had caught fire and created some buzz) and saw most of James's run, but had no familiarity with Brad except to see his name thrown around here and there. Was it pretty much expected that he had no business being on stage with Ken and James?

No, I saw a number of people actually choosing him as the favorite, including some in the Jeopardy thread here on 2+2.

Hi team won the most recent major tournament when they did the team tourney early last year, but he was the clear weak link on the team and he has lost a noticeable step in his buzzer work and recall. In terms of sheer knowledge power, he likely is behind Ken but ahead of James, but not by much. He also seems to struggle more on individual questions like Daily Doubles and Final than the other two.

You don't win six (including the four most major that Jeopardy has ever held) tournaments by being bad at it. He isn't the oldest guy in the room either, it just seems as though his recall speed has slowed more than the other two, especially Ken who is just beastly.

LKJ you root for this garbage pile? What kind of a ****ing call is that?

Within the relative scale of being a fan of a winning team, it’s an incredibly torturous thing to root for a Pete Carroll team. It’s beyond question that he’s done a lot more right than wrong and has had unprecedented success in Seattle, but he might legitimately be bottom five at game management.

Being a Seahawks fan is still way more fun than being a Mariners fan though, so I don’t want to overstate the torture of it all.

Watching Russ carve them up knowing beast mode is getting fed 12 carries at 2.2 yards each in a game decided by 5 points feels bad. Thought they were gonna do it to GB again. Rough breaks lkj

Yeah, it's really frustrating to be getting as little as we are out of Wilson's prime, based on how it's happening in terms of limiting his ceiling with the way they call the offense. It's all easier to take since we did slip that one SB championship in, which takes us out of that territory where the Mariners had Griffey/A-Rod/Edgar/Randy Johnson on the team at the same time and never managed to even appear in the WS. This year's Seahawks were generally very young, and given the talent level it's clear that we overperformed to get to 11 wins, but for the most part I still don't see the pieces in place to get us back to being a really strong defense (especially if Clowney leaves town; not really sure what's going to happen there). Offense could become pretty beastly, but again the coaches are insistent on limiting their output. Carroll is a stubborn old dude who is going to stick with his philosophy and basically insists on coaching as if he still has the players he wants. He thinks running and defense is the key, and that's how he's going to coach; somehow it doesn't matter that we have a top-flight QB and an offense that way outpaces the defense.

Based on season series I would have to think we were the likelier ones to be drawing live against SF next week, or at least would do enough to provide a game that would be worth watching into the 4th quarter. I lack the necessary self-loathing to actually sit and watch Niners-Packers, though maybe I'll have it on as background noise or something. Niners probably win by 14+. Surprised they're only giving 7.

After one episode with him as guest co-host, I'd be all for Creed Bratton joining Office Ladies as a third co-host. He was very enjoyable.

Surely there's a point of diminishing returns where a company (read: State Farm) would want to limit its absolute saturation of commercial breaks.
