Pretty sure any and every team vs. the Patriots are a default-face, and have been since their first SB win

I may be a Pats fan myself, but a) I acknowledge how garbage the majority of Pats fans are and b) I grew up watching Drew Bledsoe consistently disappoint, Parcells and Curtis Martin leaving for the enemy, and Pete Carroll getting the shaft for the first 11 years of my football-aware life

Well, sure. To me, "heel vs. heel" is all dependent on your own team preferences though. While I fully acknowledge that a ton of the country saw Seahawks vs. Pats as heel vs. heel, it obviously wasn't for me. On the other hand, I've rooted for the Pats in some of their Super Bowls, certainly getting enthusiastically behind them last year.

This year shapes up pretty well to have at least one face. Despite my long-term disdain for Baltimore, Lamar is likable enough that I could easily get behind them in the SB against several of the NFC options. Same for KC (past but still real AFC West animosity from Seattle's time there) with Mahomes being super likable.

If not Patriots, I just want to see teams that have never won one before, or at least have gone 30+ years. So I'd fully support a KC/MIN or TEN/MIN (albeit incredibly unlikely) SB

If its SEA vs Pats I will make a fair amount of easy money, and if the seahawks also win, it's going to be glorious

Highly doubtful the Seahawks will be in that game. I suppose their current 20-1 odds to win the NFC Title seem reasonable though. They wouldn't be the worst team to ever make it.

It is highly unlikely, hence the amazing odds. But it just means I get to route for the Hawks. Wouldn’t mind Lamar or maholmes winning either. Or Brees even. A lot of enjoyable nfc teams this year

I do think we'll get through the first game in Philly with a win.

I like Brees and have no real problem with the Saints, but I don't tend to root for them except against teams who I do dislike or hate.

Speaking of which, I'll probably find myself having the chance to root for them in the NFCCG against SF.

Just thinking optimistically:
I do think Seattle over Philly is more likely than not.
If we win, it's probably a third game against SF. With both of the games this season coming down to the last play and warranting a split, we would definitely be drawing live in the rubber match even though I agree that SF wins more often than not.
If we find a way through to the NFCCG and the opponent is New Orleans, we're almost always dead. But NO would have to go win at Lambeau first, which is no given. If it were a Seattle @ GB NFCCG, the Packers are roughly as flawed as the Seahawks are, and I think we would be drawing live again.

Yeah the needed three-win sequence probably doesn't happen, but the above is why I think that the 5% provided by 20:1 odds is a reasonable number.

I could see it happening for sure. Good diagram of the process too.

I’m just so upset we don’t get any good IRM vs LKJ throw downs anymore during sf sea games. Times have sure changed

Do any of the OGs even remember like 400 posts during raw and 200 during TNA?

While I still properly hate SF, and while SF-Seattle still delivers as an entertaining game by any measure, it's just difficult to summon the same level of vitriol when the opposing coach isn't specifically Jim Harbaugh.

People will take their stupid Cleveland sympathies to the ****ing grave, but nobody hurts like Bills fans.

Figured the team here would especially lol at the above.

What a shitshow the last 5 minutes/OT of that game was for the Bills though. Could any team have possibly played worse?

Nah it was pretty terrible, though I will say that the blindside block call that prevented them from a game-winning FG attempt seemed pretty bad to me, and if that call doesn't get made then a lot of the late-game stupidity of Josh Allen would have faded to the background a bit.

But as long as they were going to lose, a mean part of me kind of wishes it had ended on that ridiculous lateral attempt late in regulation.

By the way, Booger McFarland really has a strong case for worst NFL commentator I've ever heard. Granted that this could be partially owing to me not having had to listen to Phil Simms for a long time, but he seems like he's somehow noticeably worse than Simms, which I hardly thought possible.

As someone who had been on the "Phil Simms is the worst commentator in history" team for over a decade, I have to give that crusade up. McFarland is actually worse by a non-insignificant amount. It's truly unbelievable.

The even worse call was on the kickoff to open the 2nd half. On what planet did the return man "give himself up"? The rule book is as clear as can be on this.

Yeah, in the moment I was unsure what to think of that because I wasn't sure how liberally "gives himself up" is to be construed, but as I look at the applicable Rule 7 today, it offers no support at all for the call that was made.

He had over a minute left. I have no idea what went through his mind at that moment other than "Im ****ing 23 and never been here before. Wtf do I do????"

He was trying to top Marques Colston's masterful ending against the Seahawks in the 2013-14 playoffs.

I’ve always felt a kinship to Bills fans since tailgating with some in Seattle back when I lived there and had season tickets. They were awesome and made the opposite impression of what Bears fans made in multiple visits.

But obviously I understand the division rivalry aspect on your end.

Most entertaining wildcard weekend I can remember.

Here's hoping for a really boring fourth game.

I guess it was the most boring of the 4 games. Competition wasn't fierce though.
