Just finished S02E09.

As always, my reaction to extended battle scenes in anything ever is "can't you just skip to the end and tell me who won?"

Anyway, I think that was the first episode I've run across these past few weeks that I hadn't previously seen. Everything up through S02E08 was familiar.

Despite the fact that I was not thinking about movies and can't for the life of me recall having been thinking about anything adjacent to this, it suddenly struck me like a thunderbolt that the guy who Jessup sarcastically told to get the President on the phone so they could surrender our position in Cuba was Will Bailey from The West Wing.

What an odd revelation to have out of nowhere.

Josh Malina is a Sorkin fave. He was also in The American President and Sports Night.

I always forget Sorkin's role in A Few Good Men. I've generally gone around exclusively crediting Reiner for it and never thinking about the screenplay.

At my workplace, there is now a whiteboard directly outside my office where someone wrote "who will sit on the iron throne?" and included a list underneath, where it appears that people have written notes. I've averted my eyes to specifics.

So like I said, it feels like trying to avoid ultimate spoilers is a fool's errand.

I guess I’ve never seen him tackle any role that seemed to have a high degree of difficulty.

These people who are all deeply unhappy about the last season of GOT are a rather demotivating force in committing myself to seeing the series through.

It's not that bad, just not as good as it was and a bit rushed, def keep watching imo.

There are definitely issues with a handful of things but just note that a significant section of the outrage is people that had their own fan theories turn out to not be right and getting really mad about it while yelling that "obviously this should have happened". It's just fantasy booking stuff on that front and shouldn't dissuade you from watching. Seasons 1-4 are elite television that I put up there with Breaking Bad and Lost as the height of my enjoyment of television. It falls off in quality after that though it's a slower decline. Not unlike almost every show ever.

I don't think the real decline starts until season 7.

The final episode of season 6 is my favorite of the entire series.

Rather than go on the fool's errand of trying to duck GOT finale spoilers, I went ahead and exposed myself to them. Not that I read any detailed recaps or anything, but I just went on Twitter and got the gist of a fair number of things. I assume that the anger/disappointment I'm seeing is just about an underwhelming finale that failed to deliver and not one that truly ****s the whole series up a la How I Met Your Mother?

I do plan to continue with my watch of GOT.

Basically people think the ending was rushed and un-earned wth regard to what decisions various characters make.

Episodes 4 and 5 were incredibly rushed and should have been approximately 5 episodes.

I thought the finale was pretty good.

As the cat nears his first birthday, he is making significant strides in the direction of calming the **** down and thus becoming a creature who I don't actively resent most of the time.

There will not. I don't even know what his birthdate is. I just know it was sometime in June 2018. For easy tracking of how old he is I'll just roll with June 1.

Had a conversation with a cat lady at work back in December.
"So, what are you getting him for Christmas?"
"...nothing? He doesn't know what a holiday is."
"Yeah, but will you wrap anything up for him?"
"I really can't possibly imagine why I would."

(I mean, I periodically buy him new stuff to play with, and will continue to. I just won't tie it to his approximated birthday.)

Just went and found this exchange, then proceeded to read another page and a half after that. I had forgotten that this thread was hopping back in 2013 and wasn't just a thread where I extensively rage at Aaron Rodgers and occasionally get a reply post.

(The ******* in question, no longer with my office, is now somebody I have dealt with recently as an opposing counsel. I still hate his guts. He still seems to like me.)

Why would not liking someone mean they don't like you? Do you not have people you like who you feel they don't like you? Surely that is evidence enough.

Also give the guy some credit. He may just be ****ing with you. Or being friendly?

I would sooner slam a car door on my junk than give the guy credit. I might hate him more than Cornette hates Russo. Truly a vile human being.

All the same, yes you're correct that positive feelings between people are not always a two-way street. I grant that if I respect and/or like someone and they dislike me then my reaction is usually to make efforts to convince them to like me.
