I fill his reasonably sized bowl up once a day and he just picks at it periodically rather than wolfing it all down at once; based on that, I don't ever fear that I'm ever in danger of overfeeding him. He might be bored, but I don't know how much more boring he has it than any other indoor cat. I don't get the sense that he's unhappy, but what do I know.

I had an unexpected houseguest for a bit recently (friend needed a place to stay for a bit), he's a lifelong cat guy and he said that my cat's occasional misbehavior was pretty ordinary for a kitten.

You could be right. Guess you'll just have to wait it out. My cat definitely had a naughty mischievous streak but generally she saved that for when my mum visited or occasionally my bf would cop it

How many minutes a day are you playing with him?

I dunno. Some first thing in the morning, some when I come home right after work, then intermittently throughout the day. Incidentally, I got to wondering when it was that I was last bitching about my cat ITT, and saw that Rexx was responding to something from over a month ago. I wondered because I haven't really even felt terribly unhappy with him the past couple of weeks. He's been pretty good, all in all. I still tend to think that I'm just stuck with the reality that it was an error in judgment for me to become a cat owner, but

Sorry I didn't realise it was that long ago. I've been catching up on threads.

No apology necessary obviously, just figured I should add the context that my feelings toward my cat are in a fluid state. I’m sure I’ll continue to intermittently ***** about him, but he’s in no reasonable danger of getting taken back to the shelter or anything.

Been watching through The Americans. Am into season three. Good show.

That said, I just watched a scene where a character got two teeth yanked out without pain medication. I can watch just about anything and never even have the instinct to look away, but watching that caused me to first curl up and mostly cover my eyes, and then ultimately to walk out of the room while I waited for the scene to be over. That is high on the list of things I just never, ever want to see. ****.

Mariners threatening to strong-arm me into spending money on subscribing to at least a month's worth of MLB.tv. I'm on a free one-week trial through Amazon right now, though it's of limited use when I can't actually access the condensed games in the morning as I sort of need to on 10 p.m. weeknight starts.

I mean, this 6-1 start is almost certainly pure smoke and mirrors, but if they stayed hot for long enough then I would have no choice but to start to make an emotional investment.

Admittedly it sucks for me that Tony Bennett had this high level of success at Virginia rather than WSU.

That said, I'm over it enough that I'm fully rooting for UVA to close this out. Tony is an awesome guy.

Gotta tell you, I really don't see myself actually suffering a significant letdown this year, because I just can't be duped into believing that a team with our pitching staff isn't going to crater.

They've already managed to give me more fun this season than I expected when they straight-up waved the white flag during the offseason and said they hoped to be winners in 2021.

I'm not the world's biggest baseball fan anyway, but I enjoy it enough.

That being said, there is no way I could ever be excited about baseball in April.

I wish I could say the same, but as a Mariners fan, April is the only opportunity I have to get excited about baseball.

Especially when they play my hapless Royals in April

Yeah, but as a Royals fan myself, we just made back to back World Series appearances, with a sequence of miracle games in each run.

I mean, if the Royals are awful for another 30 years before they're good again, that's about the pace they usually run.

Very true. I was in junior high when they won their first in '85. Became a fan because of George Brett and his grittiness against the evil Yankees in the late '70s and early '80s. Now there's Whit Merrifield, who went to my tiny high school, and is now a hometown hero.

It's just so painful now with such a potentially good offense and never being able to hold any kind of a lead. I probably won't live to see their run in 2045.

How did you come to be a fan?

Of note: the royals won in 85, KU won in 88. Sweet few years for traditional Kansas fans.

Also, neither won again for decades, even though KU was one of the most winning teams of the 1990s in college basketball.

No comment on the Chiefs, that were one of the most winning teams of the 1990s.

Of note: lol KSU, lol Missouri, sorry for being a KU homer.

As someone who was very much into Breaking Bad while it was going into its final season, I'm pretty jealous of the people who are super into Game of Thrones right about now.

Excited for the final season, even if the previous one was easily the worst.

Are there any other shows currently airing where a final season would be a substantial cultural event? I feel like entertainment is so fractured these days that it's going to be more and more rare for a TV show to have relatively widespread mainstream appeal like this.

I'm pretty sure the answer to your question is no. Pretty massive gap between GoT and whatever #2 is. And obviously the shows originating with streaming services like Netflix and Prime can never provide the same level of cultural event given that they dump entire seasons at a time.

That said, I'm pretty confident that this isn't the last time we'll see similar hype heading into a show's final season. HBO, AMC, FX, someone will hit on something truly massive again that will drop one episode at a time.
