Do you have any anecdotes about Mo from Men on a Mission?

Yes but do you have any anecdotes about Quebecer Pierre?

I can hardly imagine a more University of Washington tweet than this. (They had a game-winning FG attempt at the end of regulation, which obviously missed.)

I just can't imagine who posts a tweet like that and then feels like he's allowed to not feel shame 24 hours a day for the next 20+ years. You seriously can't be allowed to have inner peace for multiple decades after posting something that pathetic.

It was all that Dan Marino's fault, everyone knows that. If he had held the ball, laces out, like he was supposed to, Ray would never have missed that kick. Dan Marino should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell.

I always thought the most underrated part of that movie was Ace Ventura randomly spotting a small figure in a tiny team picture from way across the room. "Who's that? ... THAT. ... Who the hell is THAT?!"

I have been ragging on my wife for a couple years now about watching The Office. She always blew me off. Finally about 2 months ago she gave the first season a try, and eventhough I told her that it really doesn’t get going until season 2, she felt that she was justified in her stance since the first 6 episodes didn’t do it for her.

Now that she has been stuck in bed after her spinal fusion surgery, last week she finally started season 2, and that is all that has been on the television since. This has become her favorite show and sent me a text message about how she never wants it to end. In one way I am jealous that she gets to experience it for the first time, and in another way I’m sad because she doesn’t know how sharply it’s going to fall off the cliff after Michael leaves.

This is how it is with my wife and You're the Worst.

I know she will love it, but despite saying she will try it, she hasn't picked it up yet. Maybe I should have her look into spinal fusion surgery...

Plenty of good stuff in seasons six and seven IMO, even if it was on a fairy consistent downward trajectory at that point. To me the show even survived the loss of Michael for another...I don't know, 10 episodes or so, and then the descent steepened, and by season nine it was in full free-fall. Last few episodes of the series were good though too.

As soon as Will Ferrell showed up, the cringe became too much. Plus Andy and Erin. Yikes. Hard pass after Season 6

The turning point was Nellie.

The final nail was turning Andy from pretentious but with a good heart to just an all around jerk.

Owning a cat might fall into the perfect negative sweet spot, where it clearly worsens my life but is tolerable enough - and has created enough of an attachment to the creature - that I'll probably never be able to bring myself to dump him and risk a shelter eventually putting him down. Hey, at least I only have like 15 years to go.

Judging moot court tonight. I always love doing this and have migrated back to Bloomington at least once each year to do it since graduating law school in 2012. Naturally it always conjures up the memory from Rounders of one of the judges interrupting and incredulously saying, "Texas v. Johnson...?"

I always root for the competitors to do well, both because it allows me to give them a positive review during the debriefing session afterward and because it's easier and more pleasant to sit through a good argument than a bad one. If they suck though, I don't hesitate to let them know (in the most constructive way I can manage).

Last year I told one of the competitors, very much as a compliment, that watching her argument was like watching Hannibal Lecter slowly bludgeon a man to death while maintaining a resting heart rate. I gather that she didn't fully get the reference.

Let's see, law school students are What, 23, 24? They would have been born 3-4 years after Lambs came out

Yeah I know it. Of course, I was born after the first two Godfather movies came out, and while Silence of the Lambs isn't the same level of legend, it's a pretty iconic 90s movie. It's true that a person needs to be an active movie-watcher to backfill their watching resume of films from before they were born.

The joke still went over well. I just gathered that the reference was probably lost.

Love having a dog (well, sharing one with my roommate) now, but so much more maintenance than cats. I think if we had cats as big as dogs, there would be a lot more love for them.

I don't think it's a size thing - there are a lot of dogs the size of, or even smaller, than cats (though granted, they usually aren't as cool as the bigger dogs..)

Dogs are just so awesome though. You never get a cat acting like it's just won a billion dollars in the lottery every time you get home.

And dogs are pretty much tailor made for us. They not only push the exact buttons we want pushed by their social behaviour (butt sniffing excluded (well, for some)), but they help us in so many ways too. They can help blind people, people with various disabilities, they find mines, dead and lost people, they give their lives to defend and help us and they can even help people who suffer from seizures by letting them know before they themselves know that their about to have a seizure. Oh and they can sniff out cancer.

I mean - cats are cute and cuddly, but srlsy - there's no competition.
