Haven't bought a piece of wrestling merchandise since the Mankind smiley + mask t-shirt during the Attitude Era, but I picked up a classic Austin 3:16 shirt for the Indy 500 on Sunday. I still don't have any understanding or interest in racing, but I went last year and the spectacle and overall event was worth my time enough to sink my money into going again with my friends this year.

It’s drawing approving comments from random race-goers.

You play the man, not the cards.

Every year I barely watch any basketball before people rave about how good the playoffs have been and get me to turn in. Then I watch the same exact thing every year for about a series:

- A team that's clearly the best team loses a couple games
- Oh man could they really lose?!
- Oh wow they overcame the odds!

It's like watching the bad part of the Cena era. The last 4 years was Cle, the 4 before that was Mia, the few before that were the Lakers, before that was a hybrid of Spurs/Cle, and before that was Lakers again. There's just no parity in that league ever.

I just want to see LeBron leave Cleveland again to see if those dip****s re-burn his jersey.

I'm fairly confident LeBron is the GOAT and even if he isn't then he's second. I am also fairly confident that Cleveland doesn't deserve to have the GOAT or the 2nd GOAT represent them, because that town is a hellhole* and their fans suck. Across all sports. They deserve to have the Browns. It's a damn shame he came back. I hope he leaves them too.

*I lived in Cleveland for a bit.

Yeah, granted that I judge Cleveland entirely based on one weekend I spent there to attend a Seahawks-Browns game, but they were easily the most obnoxious fans I encountered while attending as a visiting fan. (St. Louis) Rams fans were cool, Cardinals and Colts fans were...fine, but Browns fans were horrible, and I felt that way when my friend and I went out on the town the night before the game without wearing enemy colors or anything, so it wasn't just a matter of taking a bunch of crap on gameday or something. Everyone sucked. It was nauseating for people to go on and on about what a feel-good story it was for LeBron to go home. I still like the guy, and I was rooting for the Cavs in the game just now because the other option was Boston, but I hope the Browns stay in the tank forever.

Also I don't know how LeBron stacks up against MJ really, given how I've overwhelmingly tuned out the league as a whole since 2008, but I'd like to believe it to be true. He's certainly the far more likable guy.

If I otherwise lack for a strong rooting preference, and if the matchup allows for this type of elimination, I root against the hockey team representing a city where ice rarely or never occurs naturally.

There's definitely that, but I think it's OK to make an exception for a first year expansion team.

Random aside: how bad must 25+ NHL GMs suck to allow this to happen?

Well I have money on Washington for the series, so I'm rooting for them, but I'm pretty sure I would be rooting for them anyway.

I'm pretty opposed to an expansion team shipping a title on principle. Though OKC was not an expansion team, the whole scene gives me traumatic flashbacks to dip****s across the country praising OKC fans for being such great fans during their run to the finals, as if any ****ing city wouldn't get hot for a team that was an instant success.

Commuting to work this morning on the freeway, in the right-most lane on a four-lane...suddenly a very loud impact occurs to my right, and I look over to find my passenger-side front window shattered completely.

Arrived at work, told my boss what had happened, and she alerted me to this story:

As the news is couching it as "bullet-like projectiles" hitting cars, my best guess is that some jackass is shooting with a B.B. gun or something?

Anyway, I'm perfectly fine, just out the cost of a new window. Could have been worse. Scary ****ing moment though.

I’ve two different incidents with stuff like this before. Driving in my best friend’s Bronco back in the early 90’s, both rear windows were blown out like a B.B. or bullet went clear through both of them. Then driving down the road with my girlfriend, the driver side window just shattered out of nowhere, kind of like how it happened to you today. I don’t know if someone shot something at me the second time or if just happened because of some weird physics, but it was scary as hell.

Fortunately no one got seriously hurt either time. I did get a little cut up by broken glass on the second one, but nothing big.

I had lobster bisque for the first time tonight. While I only would have ordered it if I suspected I would like it (which I did, it was great), obviously the majority of my motivation was just to be able to show up to my work obligation tomorrow, mention the bisque, and say, "yada yada yada I'm really tired today."

I would be lowered into my grave as a much happier corpse if every sports fan everywhere stopped aggressively humping this logical fallacy that you can retroactively change one variable without altering every dependent variable that follows.

Runner caught stealing
Next pitch is a home run
“THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A 2-RUN HOME RUN IF HE HADN’T BEEN THROWN OUT!”

No, you ****ing muppet. Stop.

If Kaepernick never took a knee, we'd never have elected Donald Trump!

This seems quite a bit more reasonable to me than the "pitch would have been the exact same and the hitter would have approached the pitch the exact same" take.
