Alright, as of right now I'm starting book 3 of the Dark Tower. Will slash Dvo's tires if it underwhelms.

I used to read Stephen King when I was younger. For some reason Apt Pupil is the story that most sticks in my brain.

No big surprise. Its an incredibly disturbing story.

Confirmed, show definitely got significantly worse. Season 5 I thought was good enough, season 6 was an absolute snooze. I'm early in season 7 and will probably go ahead and forge through it, though I feel like I'm throwing good money after bad at this point.

I wouldn't mind watching the movie of it at some point. Although it doesn't get great reviews so maybe not.

It's not a great movie. There's a ton in the story that can't be translated.

That said, Ian Mccellan is a ****ing treasure and plays the part of Dussander very very well.

I didn't even realise he was in it tbh. That may be enough to swing me as I think he is exceptionally talented.

He is, unfortunately the same cannot be said for Brad Renfro who plays Todd. It was his last real major role before he spiraled into insanity and substance abuse, and it shows.

Also troubling is that this was one of Bryan Singer's first major directing roles, and the one that led to the first allegations against him of sexually abusing minors... so, theres that.

No matter how talented the actor, very few can be relied upon to only select quality scripts.

Russell Crowe was a rare one who could be relied upon during his peak to stick pretty exclusively to good-great stuff. Edward Norton was very solid in this regard until Hulk. These days he rarely gets cast. If the rumors are true, Norton must be quite the incredible dickhead to work with if he's managed to get himself functionally shut out by a lot of the industry despite being an incredible talent with no apparent PR scandals.

Even great scripts can be made into bad movies. Definitely not always the case that the actor picked a bad script

Certainly a fair point. Probably should have said "quality projects" in order to account for more factors, but even then I realize that it's far from a perfect science.

That said, there are great actors like Robert De Niro who have burned through any reasonable benefit of the doubt and clearly just aren't very selective.

Just saw this...3 is one of the best books of the series. I expect you’ll be excited for #4 when you finish.

Also I expect that I'll have more time to devote to reading books now that Robinson Cano has basically checked out of the 2018 season.

****.

What a dumass.

How many consecutive seasons will it be out of the playoffs now? 17?

Yes. Longest drought in any of the big four. Being a Mariners fan sucks. Hopefully in 2020 we'll have not only the NHL, but also hopefully the Sonics then or shortly after, and I won't have to pin my hopes to just the two sports seasons.

Gotta say, season 7 has been significantly stronger so far than both of the two seasons directly preceding it. That debate episode was a tremendous watch.
