Just got back from watching, and would echo all of this. Would have previously given the Oscar to McDormand, but Robbie deserves it more.

Particularly given the field as it stands, this should have gotten a Best Picture nomination.

While there was a bit of dark comedy in there, there's a lot more "dark" than "comedy" IMO. I would very much classify it as a drama. The comedic elements added little for me.

I follow politics pretty closely, but I tend to see limited value in engaging in frequent forum discussion. Except in POG. I don't see limited value there; I see MASSIVE negative value. I pop my head in there once every six months or so and it's always just that conspiracy nut holding court over a derail.
You watch wrestling. You should get this.

But yes, seriously, I do that instead of cutting myself.

I once told several colleagues, "I've successfully located my line of shame. I don't apologize for watching Desperate Housewives. I do apologize for watching Monday Night Raw."

Bought a car today. Nearly new, just 6,500 miles on it. It came with a year of roadside assistance. Within ~five hours I was sitting in a car that wouldn’t start, dialing the assistance line. I’d say we’re off to a good start.

(It turned out to be an easy fix, but still.)

You can't make a post like that without mentioning what car it was so we can make fun of it.

I'm more interested in what the issue was.

Drove the car a ways, made a pit stop, returned to the car, put my key in the ignition, and it wouldn't budge. It caused a blinking light on the dash that the owner's manual labeled as "theft deterrent/engine immobilizer." I assumed that there must be some way to override this, but Google on my phone was no help. I called the roadside assistance line. The operator there listened to my issue and then said, "Okay, so you need to be towed." "Uhh, really?" "Yes." I went ahead and got into the queue for a tow, but assumed there had to be another way unless I had actually just bought a lemon with a bad computer at the helm.

I called up the dealership, asked for the service department, and the guy there quickly diagnosed it and instructed me as to a fix. He asked me if the steering wheel was locked; I checked and told him it was. He told me to put the key in the ignition, pressure it as if I was trying to turn the car on again, and as I was pressuring the key with one hand, to shake the wheel back and forth. That got me unjammed. He said this most commonly happens when someone pushes off on the steering wheel while exiting the car.

I would struggle to know exactly what my most-quoted Simpsons line is, but "I don't even know what a nuclear panner plant is!" would be somewhere on the list.

I think the quote I have heard in the wild most often is "don't blame me, I voted for kotos"

Trying to think of what mine would be

I think currently I use "No, it's the children who are wrong." Most often.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My kids love The Simpsons, but they are completely obsessed with Steamed Hams at the moment. There is a whole Steamed Hams meme/****posting subculture in the internet my kids have discovered. Here’s a nice collection:

Steamed Hams as Pulp Fiction:

Steamed Hams sung as Smashmouth:

Also, the opening line never ceases to make me cry with laughter: “Well Seymour I made it...despite your directions.”

I used to have this exact thing happen when I would drive a ****ty Hyundai Accent beater in the winter.

Also, as far as The Simpsons goes, Four Finger Discount podcast and FB page are where you need to be for excellent Simpsons meme content.

My mother & stepfather once bought and refurbished a Pontiac Firebird for me at a police auction, sinking 5-8k into it. 40k miles, few years old, nice car. Was going to drive back to MA from upstate NY, a 7 hour trip.

By the first exit, the engine caught on fire, and the car was deemed totaled/unsalvagable an hour later.

If we are talking podcasts I actually like Talking Simpsons over Four Finger Discount.
