Yeah, all this was totally worth it to watch your team fail to put up a single touchdown.

Buffalo, better or worse than Bakersfield?

A co-worker spilled coffee all over the kitchen floor this morning and just walked away. Our manager came in, cleaned it up, took the coffee carafe in a fit of rage, and locked it in a cabinet. He told me no one coffee for anyone from here on out. Told him I have a problem with it, and wasn't doing a lick of work until I got my coffee. He said I can keep it on my desk from now on.

Man, I only ever knew Keith Jackson as being an older man, but it's still a gut punch to hear that he has passed away. He was certainly one of Washington State University's proud contributions to the world.

Dark Tower just isn't working for me. The second book was better than the first, but not enough better to make me want to continue.

Keep going. In #3 the series *really* hits its stride. The ka-tet is formed and you get to see Roland and the crew making their way toward the Tower for the first time.

If you give up after meeting Blaine the Train, then clearly the series isn’t for you.

I've already put in like 800 pages combined. A series has to grab you by that point.

Think of Dark Tower books like the first few seasons of the Simpsons. Once you get to books 3-4-5 after two OKish seasons you’re getting some incredible moments.

I'm quite dubious as you can tell, but I'll take your opinion under advisement.

Three Billboards is a good/very good movie, though I don't know that I could warm up to it as a Best Picture in any good field.

Yeah, I saw it too. I actually thought it was pretty fantastic. Sam Rockwell is so good in it.

All of the actors are tremendous in it, that's for sure.

I haven't been around in a while. Is there a Royal Rumble Contest Game this year?

Seems the situation is that we have plenty of interested players but nobody offering to run it so far.

The ranking of dark tower books are:

3 >>>> 4 >>>>> 7 >>>>>5 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>6

The first is whatever. A couple cool parts but entirely too slow for my taste. The second makes strides but is all over the place. The third one is really, really, really good. To put it into words rather a list: 3 and 4 are actively excellent reads. 7 is actively good because while it has a lot going on it does a great job of wrapping everything up and has an amazing ending/epilogue. 5 is an enjoyable yet different read. 2 has potential but wouldn't be a must read on its own. 1 is meh. 6 is one of the worst things I've ever read.

All of it is worth it for 3 and 4 though

Alright dammit, I just put a library hold on the third book.

I've tried to get through the first one a few times, but to no avail. This is tempting me to give it another go.

So, I have a question that I'm afraid to ask:

For the past several years, I've been watching all of the nominees in the big eight awards before Oscar night. Since The Disaster Artist got a screenplay nomination, I'll be watching that. Do I have to watch The Room first to appreciate it?

Spoiler:
Please god tell me no.

I'm setting out to try to watch as many as I can before the Oscars also. Going to see The Shape of Water tonight.

(I will not be watching The Room.)

The Shape of Water was Oscar-quality in every way except for the screenplay, which I thought was garbage.

It got a screenplay nomination, so it might just be me.

The Shape of Water was alright I guess, but not really my thing.

+1

Pretty pissed, I had the option of this, Three Billboards and Ladybird and chose Shape of Water. Meh
