That's true. The dead giveaway would be them correctly predicting a week 7 tie against the Cardinals.

I'll know I've found true mental peace when I'm able to find enjoyment rather than pure annoyance at the amount of people that are literally too stupid to figure out a grocery store self checkout

A couple of weeks ago I landed in the ER overnight. I'm fine; I was violently ill and I feared it could be something worse, but it was just a nasty virus and it passed in a little less than a week.

Anyway, in the hospital bed overnight, I did have a TV I could turn on...with a limited supply of channels, naturally at these hours my options were infomercials or other infomercials. And then, eventually, Two Broke Girls.

In that particular situation, finding any sitcom episode at all felt like a gold mine, but I have to tell you, that really could be the worst sitcom ever. It was so ****ing obnoxious that I ended up choosing "turn the TV off and sit in uncomfortable silence for an hour with nothing but a pounding headache and a clock to stare at" over watching it.

This was so depressing to read but having seen the show it's completely understandable.

+1 about the jugs though

They didn't successfully diagnose it. It was rather unnerving for them to keep running tests and then going "hmm...probably just a bug, but we'd better run more" without really explaining the situation. Eventually they just shrugged and released me with a script for an antibiotic. Anyway, it sucked, but I've gotten a clean bill of health from a doctor since, so no long-term worries.

I'm never sure if the first reply-all person in a work e-mail thread knows their power. I see group e-mails go out from the boss and I think/hope that it won't lead to an avalanche, but it's that first person who jumps in with a reply-all who really pushes the threat to the next level.

And...yep. As I type this, the first reply-all just became the second one. There are surely dozens coming now. I'll see you gentlemen on the other side.

Our corporate HQ goofs do this all the time, and many still don't know that sending an email to everyone@xxxx means ALL 8 OFFICES, not just theirs. Therefore, we get gems like "turkey sandwiches by the kitchen sink today!" and "I brought cookies, and have gluten-free ones for you, Donna!" or "yay Adam congrats!"

Knock on wood, I've gotten away with snarky replies direct to some of these people. I am planning on sending a...creative one on my last day, though (our CEO said, and I quote, "hey, you can do whatever you want on your last day")

Speaking of bitter goodbye e-mails:

I've vaguely mentioned a guy earlier in the thread who is my most-hated person in the history of my life. He's the one who instilled anti-Boston bigotry within me. My current boss is my hero because, despite the fact that internal politics always prevented her from firing him as she wanted to and absolutely should have been green-lit to do, she managed to give him a hard enough time that he quit voluntarily after a two-week notice.

On his last day he sent a stock e-mail out to the workplace giving the standard "it's been an honor, thank you all" message to everyone in my division. I see that. I roll my eyes and go home for the day, just relieved that he seemingly actually did leave (he had been such an unkillable movie villain that I feared a swerve throughout his two-week notice). 15 minutes after he sent that e-mail I get a text from my boss saying, "He just sent a huge '**** you' memo to everyone in upper management."

She actually gave me a copy of said memo on the next business day (it was all a hit piece on her; I respect the confidence for her spreading it around further), but it was 18 pages and I couldn't get through page two before I shook my head and threw it in the shredder out of sheer disgust at how incredibly delusional it was.

I think I'd pay $9.99 for a copy of that memo

We got a pretty hilarious reply all thread last week -- someone emailed Broadcast News wanting to know how to get a retirement announcement posted, only instead of sending it to the BN account, he sent it to the BN list, so everyone in the department got it. Cue the predictable cascade of people wondering why they're on this list and asking to be removed...by pelting to the BN list and sending it to everyone else.

I suggested to my director that the next time we have to make budget cuts, we set up a similar email and get rid of anyone who replies all. She agreed.

Was trying to find that site that graphed IMDB ratings of TV shows and couldn't remember it. (it's this for others wondering)

I knew that it was discussed here, and LKJ was part of the discussion, so I searched for "IMDB" and username LKJ, and in that drop-down menu when you type in part of the name, I learned that there is a username called "LKJ IS OBESE". WTF?

Haha. That was an alias of Babs in OOT, who became obsessed with the belief that I was an 800-pound whale who was only pretending to be a lawyer on the internet. He was banned many times over and made many SNs, that among them, though I think that one got OTB&C'd pretty quickly.

I'm 6'4"/275. I'm certainly heavier than I should be (though probably not to the extent of being username-worthy); I'm working on it.

Boys, boys, boys. Imagine, if you will, someone sending an email to a "to list" rather than a broadcast email to a bunch of individual emails with no option for reply all.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, that is the Canadian Military. About 2 months ago someone in Ottawa did that exact thing. To every single member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Somewhere around 89 thousand individual email accounts. The reply alls that followed ran similar to this timeline:

A clueless question > someone telling that person to not reply all > someone realising what is happening > hundreds of memes > threats from actual generals about charges if people don't stop replying all > more memes > more threats > more memes.

Then came the actual charges, followed by protocol briefings. All in all, it was probably the least productive day I had at a computer in all my time in the army. Great stuff. Would watch it all unfold again.
