I guess Ill give this method a try. In general tho, if both audience and critics score on RT is >85ish, its been a pretty damn good movie. Big blockbusters seem to be an outlier though.

I dont really have any information on movies, so quickly googling RT has been an easy 5 second thing.

Basic guidebook:

IMDb rating of 8+: reliably at least very good, often great, sometimes elite, almost never a complete bust of a movie
IMDb rating of 7-7.9 (comedy): reliably at least very good, often great, sometimes elite, almost never a complete bust of a movie
IMDb rating of 7-7.9 (non-comedy): reliably good, sporadically great, bad movies are not common
IMDb rating of 6-6.9 (comedy): reliably good, sporadically great, bad movies are not common
IMDb rating of 6-6.9 (non-comedy): usually just watchable, only bother if something about the movie particularly draws you in
IMDb rating lower than 6: you can safely perma-snub every movie in this category, even if a few fun guilty pleasures like Cocktail (5.8) get left out this way

Oh, and if a movie is still in theaters, adjust its actual score downward since a movie's average only ever goes down over time. First the fanboys rate it, and then a larger normal population keeps it real.

Not only is the finale of S8 to S9 drop astonishing, but I enjoy the random outlier in season 6

Yeah that outlier is really weird. I can't find anything that happened March 1, 2007 that would have that kind of effect on the ratings.

I mean, unless the audience was super Southern heavy, in which case there were massive tornado outbreaks the day before and on that day.

These are quality ratings, not viewing number ratings.

6/11 my night to remember

Simpsons is as expected. Frank Grimes episode being top rated was a pleasant surprise though.

Huh, yeah that is surprising. That's my personal all-time favorite, but wouldn't have suspected it to get that much love.

The grimes episode is also in my top 5, but it's a very paradoxical episode.

Homer is the bad guy in that episode, 100%. And while he is generally a jerk, his stupidity has never been as malicious as in the episode.

It's also the end of the all time great Simpsons episodes. It doesn't take long for the show to tank from the greatest show of its generation into a good to passable cartoon.

Lisa goes Gaga isn't rated nearly low enough. It's not only the worst Simpsons episodes ever, its one of my least favorite episodes of anything I have seen on tv ever.

It's funny to see that the worst episodes outside of goes Gaga and the most recent seasons are the clip shows, by a huge margin

I can't believe that one of the largest airports in the US (PHX) doesn't have power outlets in the waiting area. It's 2017 and they just have a few random places in the middle to charge! I might actually have to buy a physical book in order to be entertained on ththe flight! Or even converse with a stranger.

Youre a lucky guy. I say this to everyone. Stop at the S8 finale and pretend it was the series finale. It was the perfect series finale of all time and they ruined it by coming back with essentially a spinoff for a new season.
