New Louis CK special on Netflix is unfortunately underwhelming. One sequence had me losing it (the one about counting years), but most of it was below Louis standards.

Guilty as charged. I don't have HBO. There's quite a bit that I need to see.

SV should be at the top of your list, and no, this isn't a The Room recommendation.

I haven't even watched The Wire, and that one is available through Prime Video on Amazon. I'm probably more inclined to wait for SV to get to Prime Video while I still have other unwatched series that I can burn through for free.

Don't get me wrong; I trust that the recommendation is a good one.

Oh sure, one of the better things about it is that it's a half hour comedy. It makes a backlog approachable.

Stuff like The Wire is daunting to me, especially since it starts slow. If I can't get into it pretty quickly, I find it hard to say I'm going to watch 60-80 hour long episodes.

I came into SV at the end of season 2 and it's very backlog approachable. Easy to binge and it's great.

LKJ have you seen GOT?

Not sure how HBO subs work in the states but if you can get it for a couple months it's worth it for those 2 shows alone as well as Wire and Sopranos if you haven't seen them. Sopranos is the goat for me but I'm guessing chances are high you've seen it.

The Wire is one of the few things that actually lives up to all the hype it gets. I've watched the full series three different times now, and each time I like it a little more.

I have seen some of GOT. Three seasons of it? I sort of like it but have also struggled to keep with it. I decided to go back and read the books, and I read book one and enjoyed it. Have meant to start the second book but it just hasn't happened yet.

I watched like half of the first season of The Sopranos back when it was fairly new, and couldn't get into it. Given that that was like 15 years ago I've always sort of meant to take another run up that hill, but it hasn't happened. Thing is that I have free access to all of The Wire and The Sopranos through Amazon Prime Video as it is with my Amazon Prime subscription, so they're a non-factor in paying for it.

I've sort of planned to temporarily resubscribe to HBO whenever the new Curb Your Enthusiasm season starts up though. Sounds like it's happening later this year.

I've watched all of season 1 and liked it quite a bit, then just didn't follow through with continuing to watch. My attention span sucks, and shows that demand that you give them their full attention (Wire, GOT) are a struggle for me no matter how great they are. Unless I'm watching socially I have trouble bringing myself to just fully focus on a TV show and not do anything else.

There's a new season of Curb coming up? Awesome.

I quit the Wire after the first episode of season 2, been meaning to start it up again at some point. I watched all 6 seasons of GOT for the first time in like 2 weeks a few months ago.

Yup, not only is there a new season of Curb coming (filming has already begun), but all of the main recurring characters are apparently back. Leon Black really is on the short list of GOAT comedic characters.

yeah Leon is great. I'm really happy about this, assumed Curb had finished for good.

Season 2 can be tough to get through on your first watch. It's so different than the rest of the series. I find myself enjoying it much more in rewatches than I did the first time I watched it.

Username checks out. Actually I just got to the Florida stuff, so we will see how that goes. I do however find it hard to believe that it's going to get substantially worse now that Nellie has been introduced. It has fallen off a cliff already and she just showed up

I had to look up who Nellie was. Totally forgot about her. I'll agree she was the worst character. I just started season 6 last night, so still a ways to go before she shows up.

Nellie was awful, but I think it's pretty impressive for Meredith to exist for the show's entire run and never be funny.

I'm guessing if I looked hard enough I could find that a moment or two existed where I laughed at something she said, but I really can't think of anything off the top of my head.

I think the episode Michael tried to take her to rehab was probably her funniest.

I did enjoy the moment when Andy accidentally gave Kelly a valentine instead of Erin, and Meredith came to him and said, "Are you kidding? I saw what you gave her. If you'd have given that to me, we'd be doing it right now." Though a lot of the funny there was Andy's horrified reaction.

Meredith being sent in to pose as president of the company in order to trick Danny Cordrea was also a funny scene. From the same episode:

I think the reason that both Meredith and Creed seem to be the worst characters is that they are the furthest removed from reality. Yeah all of the characters in the office are caricatures of people, but most of them are based on some sort of truth, except for Meredith and Creed

In general I think your theory is on point, though I don't think that the concept of Meredith is further out than the concept of Dwight.
