Well that was fun at least. I will say that it does help that no reasonable UW fan (we're talking a fraction of a percent of the fanbase) can even entertain halftime dreams of the upset anymore the way they might have if still down 3.

I'd be lying if I said I expected a win, but the game was a lot closer than I expected. Maybe OSU or Clemson can take Bama? They haven't looked that impressive to me.

To make them feel stupid for allowing themselves to feel hope. To suffer a beating so thorough that they would never allow themselves to submit to the temptation of hope again.

Sure, there's going to be some temporary frustration with having lost, but putting up a whole competitive half is eventually going to be seen as a moral victory of sorts, and that's not even an unreasonable reaction to it given what they're up against.

Damn you, Alabama. You ruined our program back in 2002-03, and now you didn't even have the decency to wafflecrush for all four quarters.
LOL, and here I was coming in here thinking at least LKJ's 2016 ended on a high note.

Bama will crush whoever comes out of the late game.

I know it, I got greedy. My Bama friend gave me an admittedly well-deserved "dude, WTF did you want, we covered a double-digit spread" reaction when I expressed similar sentiments to him via text.

Happy New Year, thread.

Lifelong Aaron Rodgers fan checking in here. Let's take down that NFC North tonight, shall we?

Its too bad Washington choked against a team that didn't care and was running a vanilla offense. I would have loved to see Rodgers and Stafford kneel it down for 75 minutes to both get in the playoffs and the announcers lose their mind.

It never would have happened but I can dream

I have a difficult time remembering a less appealing playoff matchup than next week's Raiders-Texans pillow fight. I'm no Raider fan, but that Derek Carr injury is such a bummer for playoff watchability.

Rooting for the Packers in theory is a lot different than actually attempting to coerce your inner self into reacting positively when these sons of bitches make plays, and reacting negatively when they give them up. But I'm giving it a go.

Thank you! The really gratifying part of that win was my personal hero Aaron Rodgers attempting to act magnanimous in the post-game interview. I, for one, see him as a very genuine good ol' boy.

Well yes, the whole basis of me semi-pulling for him here was my respect for his play. Hell if I wanted the Seahawks to play him when they could play not him. I wanted him to just miss the playoffs entirely, but that was out once the Skins lost.

As it is, in a scenario where Seattle can remember how to play football and begins advancing, it feels like he does provide a realistic hope of knocking Dallas off in the divisional round and opening up a road to the Hawks hosting the NFCCG.

(My prediction remains a second-round playoff exit for the Hawks.)

I think Miami matches up well against Pit, but homer etc. The Mia D Line vs Pit O Line is a pretty huge mismatch in Miami's favor. If they can apply a lot of pressure to Ben I like the chances.

Of course, Ben/Brown vs Miami secondary is a terrible matchup. So who knows?!

But theres a chance!

I don't think they can beat NE @ NE tho. They just don't have the horses to run with them. White/Lewis and Bradys quick release (Ben holds the ball a lot which is why I think they can get to him a lot) really negate the D Line.

I'm a little surprised that Pittsburgh is favored by a full 9.5 (started at 7.5). Granted that I basically haven't seen more than short clips of Miami since the opening Seahawks/Dolphins game, but I was under the same impression that they didn't match up THAT badly with the Steelers. I hope they can pull that upset.

Surely this is fabricated?

Also he likely wont be on the Bears next year so seems even weirder

I liked it in 2006 when the Seahawks beat the Lions 9-6 and Lions WR Roy Williams said after the game, "It's stupid how close we came to putting 40 on the board."

Doubt it's going to happen.

But I'm kinda sad that we have to go to KC on the road. We destroyed them early in the season but that was at home, and don't see that result portending anything for the future.

I mentioned it in the raw thread but I might as well put it here too. I recently got a really good deal from Comcast where I get all of the premium channels for $159 a month.

Apparently back in Nov. Comcast changed their internet policy and they limit you to 1 TB of data a month. I guess with all of the streaming my wife does, we were using close to that much a month. Then my wife got me a 60" 4K UHD TV for Christmas and streaming 4K uses something like 7GB an hour so I called Comcast to see where I could save money. We were spending $169 a month for digital plus Stars and the Encore channels. We were also spending $12 a month for Showtime. Then all of the extras brought out bill up to $280. Now we are paying $159 a month for all of the premium channels plus they threw in one of the DVRs. Now we are paying ~$210 a month.

Just a heads up if you have Comcast and are looking to save a few bucks

So there was this bizarre thing in the Seahawks game the other day where, despite the fact that a loss would drop us to the #4 seed while a win locked up the #3 seed, Pete Carroll pulled Russell Wilson and a bunch of other starters early in the 4th, presumably when it became clear that we weren't going to get the help needed to get the #2 seed and get a bye. I really don't think that the distinction between the 3 and the 4 is that small this year; it wouldn't be far-fetched for that to be the difference between playing a hypothetical NFCCG against Green Bay in Seattle vs. playing it in Lambeau. It was extremely confusing that he did that, but we managed to hang onto the win with the backups in, so no harm done.

Still, the WTF continued when Carroll was asked about taking the risk when that seeding change was on the line:

What's especially weird about that is that it's not even an in game decision like when a viewer is wondering stuff like "Why the **** are they using a timeout on 3rd and 18 in the 3rd quarter?" Decisions like that are stupid, but the pressure with the clock running can make people do dumb things.

But Carroll et al. had a full week to take 2 minutes to figure out the consequences of winning or losing that game based on what else happened around the league. (I think it was as simple as win+ATL loss=2 seed, loss+GB win=4 seed, anything else=3 seed)

That's just an inexcusable level of unpreparedness.
