In this scenario does he get to view extensive media coverage of his old friends burning Andy Dufresne memorabilia on live TV while cursing his name, and Red himself uploading a hate letter about Andy to a website and leaving it there for several years, despite the fact that Andy was the only innocent man in the prison and didn't deserve to be stuck there in the first place?
Because if all of that is included, the survivor's remorse part becomes difficult to understand.
