I'm assuming he was talking about Bigdaddydvo considering he mentioned a Casino and I'm obviously playing online. Maybe I'm an idiot. I just wouldn't "rather be in a casino".

Forgot Bovada doesn't bring table to the front and while typing the above I clicked just to see my AA mucked in the bb to a MP raise. Christ.

Lol. I don't read NVG any more so I miss posts like these.

Oh I'm sure you're a big winner in poker Fear.

I'm a losing player online, but a winning player live. My sharkscope graph has peaks and troughs akin to a sinusoidal wave (my heads up sit and go phase) followed by a metaphorical falling off of a cliff, uber tilt combined with increasing stakes to try and recover my losses, like a bad day trader.

The main reason I no longer play tournaments (other than crapshoots) is time constraints. Live MTTs are the best opportunity to win big money with minimal downside. But I can't commit an entire weekend to poker anymore.

I'm very much an amateur player. The highest I tend to go is £100 buy-in cash tables, where the standard is normally pretty soft (drunk rich guys and chavs in hoodies). I'm never going to win big, but conversely I'm never going to lose big.

All I seek from poker these days is a few hours of entertainment, and beer money for the rest of the evening.

Well that's a much more reasonable post than "lol donkaments I bust fish at Bellagio while popping bottles."

Blue Nun was actually an Alan Partridge reference which lives on as a running joke in each episode of This Week (A BBC comedy politics show).

I do recommend it though. Interestingly it was the best selling wine in the world between 1950 and 1980, but the brand became synonymous with tackiness and went out of fashion. German wine doesn't have the best reputation. The brand was re-launched a few years ago with a new taste, apparently devised to 'suit British women aged 25-45', whatever the hell that means.

I do not work for Blue Nun.

personally the fun thing about tournaments is playing with 100k+ in chips and cashing big

I had an impossible commute filled with an absurd number of unexpected traffic stoppages and hazards.

I finally arrive at my desk to an all-office e-mail, confirming what I already suspected to be true based on the temperature upon entry:

The A/C is out again this morning.
I sigh and tear away my daily calendar to bring it through the weekend to today. The oh-so-clever joke waiting on today's date:

What a great NBA finals. A historically great team trying to fend off the GOAT GOATing provided 6 games of enjoyable basketball. Most enjoyable finals in a while. Bron deserves better.

Was fun to watch. Also my first month of sports betting which made it a lot more enjoyable

Was very entertaining, and I say that as someone embittered toward the NBA and resistant to enjoying it. I couldn't bring myself to root for the Warriors even though Klay is a WSU Cougar and I wish him well individually; seeing the Bay Area have this much sports prosperity is just too grating. Thank God the 49ers' window very likely closed without any new championships.

Anyway, I can fall back on my Cleveland hate and be fine with the result. I felt weird that my rooting instinct went in their direction anyway.

Yeah I was surprised that I ended up being somewhat pro cleveland once the series got rolling. It was just hard not to want Bron to ship with that effort. Both fanbases have some prettttty terrible members so that was a wash - even with recent SF success.

Theoretically yes. I definitely like LeBron more than most superstars in any sport.

But one does not simply voluntarily choose to go back to Cleveland. That was like if Andy Dufresne turned himself back in at Shawshank so that he could attempt another prison break for the fun of it.

I like to think of it more like Andy escaped, realized how great the non-prison life was, felt survivor's remorse about his friends still stuck there, and went back to try and lead them all to freedom. Of course he gets caught and gets stuck back in the hellhole for a couple more years but you gotta give a respectful nod for trying to help people that don't remember what it's like to be winners.

In this scenario does he get to view extensive media coverage of his old friends burning Andy Dufresne memorabilia on live TV while cursing his name, and Red himself uploading a hate letter about Andy to a website and leaving it there for several years, despite the fact that Andy was the only innocent man in the prison and didn't deserve to be stuck there in the first place?

Because if all of that is included, the survivor's remorse part becomes difficult to understand.

I mean, no grudge here against him for going wherever he wants, I like him just as well since he made that decision and I always support a free agent's prerogative to do what they want to do. I was just very confused by that choice.

This seems to be true. They blew their one chance by losing to the lolRavens.

We did get the awesome parallel to Candlestickpowerouttage.gif out of it though.

The Giants though...

Yeah I envy the Giants thing, as the Mariners piss away another year that looked legitimately promising. If you told me before the year that they were going to be a sub-par team this year, I would have assumed that either Nelson Cruz being a bust or some major injury would have to be part of the equation. But no, they just suck.

Fangraphs still gives us some non-negligible chance of turning it around and making the playoffs, but I'm giving up hope. It's like a week or two until it's time to desperately yearn for football.

I'm really disappointed by this as well. Not only were some picking them to be decent. I saw more than one predicting of them winning the whole thing. To be well under 500 at this point for no discernable reason is just gross

Did you at least month by month the MLB.tv?

No. And that's what I do every year, but I took a leap of faith this year since I figured the chances were just too remote of them not being relevant for the whole season. Figured I might as well take the discount and just pay for the season (I think it comes out to be a value of one free month). I'm still watching basically every M's game at this point, but I figure there's a risk that I'll only be tuning in sporadically by late July.

So, what do you think comes of this Cardinals hacking the Astros system scandal? Anything?

Also, LKJ you could be a Phillies fan now
