re: Post ITT if you like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch

i would have folded the 5s and probably looked for a better spot to shove in position. i'd rather be the first to get it in from the button and try to steal a pot than shove UTG with 55. Shoving may be the correct play tho.

Agree that the button over-call was completely horrible

Funny you guys say it's a bad call with the AQ. It's a call that I'd at least consider in his spot. He'll have a bit over 540k left over if he loses and if he wins, he has ~1.25M. But I've never really been a tourney player and probably only played around 10-15 since Black Friday.

Shove is fine as 2nd shortest stack. Overcall is bad unless he had 50bb+.

I hve no problems considering it there, but in that spot, its a fold. Best case scenario you are up against two PPs lower than QQ or in the case of bad players shoving you could be up against a pp lower than QQ and something like AJ or KQ but that is highly unlikely. Im guessing in that spot you are going to see exactly what he saw and sometimes QQ+. But that also assumes your opponent isnt a mouthbreather, but when you said he was a 56/18, its obvious he is

re: Post ITT if you like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch

I get pretty angry when I'm trying to decide whether to purchase a book on Amazon and look in the reviews and see a perfect review and to comments saying: "This book was given as a gift." Nice review, jerk.

I do use other places to help me decide, but for a lot of the books I want, mostly dealing with the Toronto Maple Leafs, there aren't a lot reviews out there to begin with.

I also have trouble reading fiction. If I know it's fake, I can't read it. It just seems pointless to me. Weird.

If fiction is pointless, I can't imagine what the point of history and biographies of hockey players is.

I desire to instantly learn and apply concepts from what i read, so fiction is less appealing in terms of instant gratification. Irrational viewpoint I'm sure, though.

Preferring non-fiction is fine, though I can't relate to sticking entirely to non-fiction to the exclusion of fiction.

The thing is that not all non-fiction is created equal. There's non-fiction that actually has a direct use and application, and then there's non-fiction that is primarily consumed just for entertainment (similar to lots of fiction). I'm surprised anyone would draw a hard dividing line between the two, and especially to do it to completely annex fiction stuff out. I dunno.

It's all us Leaf fans have. History. Why the Leafs Suck and Theo Fleury's autobiography are two of the best books I've read, but I still haven't found one that comes close to touching Mick Foley's first book. I do have Y2J's first two books now, though. Will read them as soon as I finish reading about the 1967 Leafs.

I've also read two baseball bios. One on Barry Bonds, and the other on Lou Gehrig. Both very good. Especially the Gehrig one.

Idk, I can't read fiction. Which is weird to me because I watch wrestling. lol

I dont know if I would call it strange except for the fact that this forum is all about fictional entertainment. Im not a big book reader by any stretch of the imagination, but I havent read a fiction book since I was 18. I personally prefer "true"stories and am really interested in behind the scenes stuff.

I don't really know why this discussion sparked this memory, as it's pretty unrelated, but:

I once had a conversation with a girl who asked me what I thought of The Matrix. I told her I thought that it was really good. My compliment of it was not enough for her - she really thought I should be agreeing that it was basically the GOAT - and she suggested that I google stuff about it so that I would understand it better.

...

I can only guess that means she had decided that I only thought it was "really good" because of the special effects or something.

re: Post ITT if you like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch

Went back and put in a live poker session yesterday for the first time in nearly four years. Was happy to find that I wasn't too terribly rusty; I won a nominal amount. Unfortunately my table was saddled down by this ridiculous know-it-all who insisted on giving lessons to anyone who would listen. This guy's advice and coaching to people was generally very much on point, which only made it all the more frustrating that he was insisting on teaching volunteer poker school to anyone who would listen.

The only time he took a break from doling out poker lessons was to lecture a young bad player on why he should stop drinking and smoking. Not at the moment, mind you - the kid wasn't drinking while playing, and this was a non-smoking table - but rather, just life advice. By the time I left I wanted to whack the guy with a tire iron. ****ing jackass.

awesome. I've never played live. I'm more than likely saving up atm to move to Vegas and just play live though since I have no other skills. Graduated HS but no college and played poker professionally from 04-BF. Not looking forward Vegas, if I end up going.

I'd far rather just play online; I used to make decent money grinding the $100 HU SNGs on the side, but of course my HU SNG ability doesn't have any real outlet now. I'm not as good at full ring play.

I'll just play recreationally now and then at the local cardrooms and hopefully at least be a mild winner.

I'd rather just play online too but moving out of country seems out of question for me. From what I've heard WPN is a rockfest. Bovada doesn't seem good to play on because of software and I like my HUD. Merge is fantastic aside from the cashouts and the people running it don't give a **** about anything. Vegas is next best thing. Maybe LA but Vegas is lower cost of living. I made my living at fr cash. Crushed 1 and 200. Was just too much of a pussy too play higher. I did play 2/4 and 3/6 and won at both but being all-in for $1k+ pots made me feel kinda sick.

re: Post ITT if you like girls that wear abercrombie and fitch

I kind of regret not taking the plunge and moving to Vegas in 2008 or 2011 (my best years for poker financially) since I didn't have anything or anyone really tying me down. Biggest mistake was moving down from 6-max (which I consistently killed for years on Merge) to full ring for bankroll safety's sake. That and not having a backer or mentor (all my 2p2 friends were casual players, IRL friends were fish).

Isolated, visit vegas a few times first, ideally, stay in sublets off the strip to get a feel of living there. It's still pretty affordable considering all that you have access to within driving distance. Man, I miss practically staying and eating there for free every time I went via comps and credit card points.

Yeah, I defo regret not moving to Thailand with another 400/600 fr reg or even with WCG to Canada who was staking me from $400-$1knl and we were decent friends since he started poker. Given the chance to do it over, I'd split from here and grind SNE every year for the guaranteed money since even at my worst I feel I was be at 200.

I was given a hefty settlement last winter for an accident that herniated 3 discs in my neck (still herniated ftw...uhhh loss) but decided without knowing if I'm a winner now or not and having all kinds of rust in a game that people logically got better in that it's best to stay in the US.
