If you're going to jaywalk, just wait until a time when you can safely do all of it. Otherwise, find a damn crosswalk.
Although there are crosswalks going from the subway station to the street I work on, cars aren't required to stop, and only do if you walk across, and literally stop and stare the driver in the eye. A pedestrian and a cyclist both crossing the same sidewalk were hit and killed by trucks a few months ago because the driver didn't stop. They repainted the crosswalk after that, put a memorial bicycle on the side of the fence, but still no mandatory stop. There is only one official, traffic-light-controlled crosswalk from the station to the street I work on, but it's far down, and you have to then cross a highway exit to get to the other side...that doesn't have a crosswalk at all.

Seriously, what is with this weird-ass **** where people will post a FB status and then automatically press like on every comment that comes in underneath it? There's no chance in the world that every comment that comes in under every one of your statuses is somehow like-worthy.

I swear that site exists just to turn me into more of a misanthrope.

It's clearly a terrible site, yet I compulsively go there daily anyway. Maybe I would resist the impulse if I deleted it from my toolbar bookmarks.

I deactivated my account a year or so ago. I wasted too much time on there looking at random **** that just made me mad. I re-login every now and again to check messages on my band's page but then deactivate again straight away.

years ago i used to frequent a strip club in queens ... let's say regularly .. by myself.

One day a few friends wanted to go so we went. there was a long line. we were waiting on it. a few minutes laters, 2 strippers come outside for a smoke break and see me. "Bill, what are you doing... you know you don't have to wait on line or pay a cover." The look on my friends faces was priceless.

if you are being serious;

you end up "liking" the comments to make the people who made them feel good bro

Meh. Then worthless comments get treated the same as elite comments. It basically removes a person's ability to actually compliment stuff that's worthy of compliments.

Also if you like literally everything then they can all see that you were just liking everyone's, so it's weird of them to feel particularly good about that.

I always want to go into the updates of people who press like on every comment and leave one-line non-sequitirs about some irrelevant topic just to see if the person will like mine too.

How do you respond to people wishing you happy birthday on facebook? I usually just like every post because I don't want to be a dick and not do anything, but I also don't want to write thank you on every single post.

If it just says something standard, it's just a like. Unless it is a hot chick.

Facebook is a super convenient way to track social activities in one place. I think it's almost more of a "look at me" attitude to not have a Facebook account, nowadays. It's akin to "I don't even own a television" of around 6 or 7 years ago.

I organize 2 ball teams, 2 hockey teams, and 1 soccer team on FB and it's so, so, so much easier than having to call everybody to confirm numbers or changes, or even than sending a text.

If you don't at least have a facebook account to make it easier for other people who need to be in contact with you for events you are participating in to get a hold of you, then you are the one who is being a ****hole here.

What on earth is the censored four-letter word that would precede "hole"?

You're certainly right about this, but it's completely entrenched and there's no getting out of it. Restaurant prices are adjusted accordingly, so when it comes to Americans, only ****hole cheapskates refrain from following the custom.

The C word would be my guess.

Also, I don't organize activities through Facebook I use a phone or text messaging. Why does that make me a ****hole?

One year, as a personal challenge, I gave a personalized response to every single post. That was a ridiculous task to undertake and I'll never do that again.

Since that time I just do the catch-all "thanks for the birthday wishes" status update post in some form. I'll usually try to fit in a witticism or whatever with it, I think.

How's bragging camp going, mr. "I have so many friends it was a task to respond to them all"?
Wrestling OT/LC Thread: We'll Stop Talking About Star Wars Eventually Quote
07-17-2014 , 05:27 PM
It doesn't take very many friends for that task to become a ****ty one.

Seriously, if you have 100 FB friends (a small list by any measure), and 15 of them wish you a happy birthday, that's 15 personalized responses to come up with. I wasn't just going "Thanks!" I don't really know how many birthday posts I got, but yeah you get the idea.

Exclamation marks are the worst. Really drives me crazy that I can't get anyone on board with the Ben Franklin test, where you only use an exclamation mark if you honestly think that he would have.
