I called my folks tonight for Father's Day. I led with, "So...these holidays are kind of close to each other. I haven't really cultivated any new material since Mother's Day." Expectations management is a good thing.

What a jobber of an excuse for a credit card

$49 annual fee for near-zero benefits? Whoever came up with this concept (and bland generic WWE logo) must be a RAW writer. You'd think they'd at least have some creativity and let marks choose Stone Cold, John Cena, etc. to be on the card design, give discounts to WWE Shop/merchandise at shows

I’m under the impression that Credit One pretty much only offers shitty deals like that. I guess it can be worth it to build up some positive credit history if your credit is in the toilet.

Just noticing now that it's Credit One (which I had never heard of before this) instead of Capital One - could make sense, as they base the annual fee on many of their cards on your credit score (with most at $0 for excellent). It bums me out to see people have lousy cards with little-to-no benefits since when there's ample opportunities to bonus-whore CCs like the good ole days of pre-UIGEA poker sites

I've arrived at a place where I have an unwieldy number of credit cards, and it's stifling my will to continue churning signup bonuses by accumulating more. Even though I'm a nerd and I keep my personal finances mapped out and updated in detail on a spreadsheet, continuing to keep track becomes too much of a chore. Definitely no shortage of good options out there for bonuses though.

Kenny Omega is ****ing awesome. I know I'm late to the show, but just had to say it.

I suppose that's one way to get me to click on a promotion trying to get me to sign back up.

10 years later, I finally got around to Crazy, Stupid, Love. Very enjoyable movie.

Its blowing my mind this is not the thread with the Marty Jannety discussion.

15+ years ago, I watched the pilot episode of The Sopranos, shrugged with indifference, and moved on. But I've felt for a long time that I owed it a second (and longer) look.

Am loving this show now on my second attempt.

I hadn't watched it until this year and thought it was the GOAT pilot

Had a best friend post-college (07') who was obsessed with it and kept badgering me to watch it (to the point where I refused since he was so aggressive about it). We would've bonded a fair amount more had I given it a chance, but feel like I appreciate the nuances of the show more now than I would have then

I want to give Sopranos a shot eventually.

Just finished True Detective season 1 which was excellent. About to get back into season 2 of Westworld.

True Detective season one was indeed excellent. And then I never even tried season two after how hard everyone crapped on it.

Also, it took until this watch of The Sopranos to discover that the woman who plays Tony's sister had more of an acting resume than just "that woman who Larry David is afraid to leave his popcorn with, leading him to declare that he likes to munch and pee."

I loved season 1, haven't seen season 2, and rather enjoyed season 3. I rewatched S1 E1 last week, will finish up.

Have only seen the pilot of Sopranos, about 7-8 years ago. Should give it a proper watch.

Welp. I was hoping for a Richard Sherman return to the Seahawks - and it seemed to be a live possibility - but I'm no longer hoping for that.

That news surprises me. Obviously there are examples where his personality merits objection, but I've always thought of him as a solid guy with an occasionally problematic personality.

Just saw this. Unfortunate—I have a soft spot for NFL players who took collegiate academics seriously.

Also it usually speaks highly of a person's character when they hate Jim Harbaugh with every fiber of their being. Alas.

Anyway, I suppose I should wait for more facts to come out, but it doesn't look good.

I see domestic violence but I don't see anywhere in the article that says he hit anyone.

He was my favorite Seahawk, only football jersey I have had.

Anyone play Wrestling Empire? I just picked it up on Switch last week and have spent every spare minute playing the damn thing. This **** is a dream, an amazing love letter to the N64 era and AKI Wrestling games.

Police chief says that Sherman didn’t assault his wife. This was an incident involving former in-laws, apparently. Which is still a vague description, but it sounds like the “domestic violence” part invoked images of something that it wasn’t.

Still may have been bad, but if this was a fight with an able-bodied dude then it completely changes the story.

So it seems like the story is morphing into "he got drunk and acted like a ****ing idiot."
