I really don't even know what movies make. I don't think I could guess that about any movie.

Probably outdid Chairman of the Board.

Lol. By nearly 1000x, actually.

I rented that movie when I was a kid. I've probably seen it 5-7 times. It's been awhile now, I should watch it again.

Always thought the Board was spelled
B-O-R-E-D for some reason.

I feel like I would have way less of a sense of humor about that moment if I actually had a financial stake in that movie. Like, it was an inarguably dickish sequence, yet it was just too hilarious to resist.

That clip never fails to cheer me up when I’m down.

Conan does diagnose a real problem for the producers: Hiring a prop-dependent comic and taking away his props for the movie.

Still, if it had been made 25 years later, COTB would easily have qualified to be a Netflix Original.

I mean, every time I saw Carrot Top do anything he was painfully unfunny, so the real problem for the producers was signing up to produce a Carrot Top vehicle at all. I can't imagine that could ever, ever be good.

"Wait, she left Melrose Place to do a movie with Carrot Top?"

I was vaguely aware of this movie's existence, but I just saw that it was added to HBO Max so I looked it up.

It gets a 4.1 on IMDb. I was already skeptical, because the "Eddie Murphy plays 10 characters" thing needed to not happen more than once, but 4.1 is incredibly low.

On the bright side, I just watched Misery for the first time ever. That was good.

I can’t find the link of the sketch anywhere, but 30 years ago SNL did “Misery II” when Roseanne Bar hosted, with her Cathy Bates character furious after finding out Dana Carvey retired his Church Lady character. Peak SNL imo.

Carvey was always good, but the Church Lady never really amused me that much.

Incidentally, let the record show that while Peacock is going through WWE content with a fine-toothed comb for offensive material, and censoring it when they find it, this sketch is just chilling in the SNL section of Peacock.

That was one of the worst SNL sketches I've ever seen. Disappointed at Phil Hartman for agreeing to be in this garbage

That stuff is so maddening. Obviously I expect that it's all mandatory company protocol and not the agent's fault, but ****.

Despite the fact that I'm pretty much on the woman's side in that I'd get my hackles up about a personal question also, I've always loved that Larry thoroughly wins this exchange through sheer force of not giving a ****.

If we don't discuss salary inequities, how would people be able to advocate for getting paid what they're worth?

Her reaction feels over the top to me since it's a general question and not "how much does he make". Vets make far less on average MDs (though top vets that say treat horses for that race professionally likely make around what an average MD makes).

I get what you're saying, that it's helpful to management (and thus unhelpful to workers) to have as little transparency as possible about what people get paid, but I still have old-fashioned sensibilities and would still tend to react defensively if a person was essentially prying at my personal finances. Granted that Larry seemed like he was just exhibiting curiosity about how vets do, but it's kind of impossible to separate that from being a question that functionally does ask the person to reveal truths about their personal finances.

That said, it's a closer question than, say, Larry reacting to, "I don't even know how to write cursive anymore," with, "So how's your marriage?"

They just love milking that GTA Online cash cow. Sucks.

And you know, V wasn't even that fun of a single player campaign. It's clear that they only care about the online stuff now.

I dug the single-player campaign quite a bit. Never played online.

I suppose I should give Red Dead Redemption another try. I gave up on it relatively early and never tried again.

Red Dead is a much better single player experience. GTA V’s single player wasn’t *bad*, but it was a noticeable downgrade from the GTA IV and San Andreas experiences. The second you’re done with V’s campaign, there’s literally nothing else to do. There’s plenty of locations that LOOK like they should be accessible in single player, but they’re only useable online.

Alas, this is more of an industry problem than just GTA. Luckily in the past couple years there’s been a resurgence in solid single player campaigns, so there’s reason to hope.

If they don’t return to the 80s for 6 though, they’re really blowing an opportunity. “GTA VIce” is gold.

Vice City was elite. GTA V did noticeably have the worst radio stations by a lot.

I'm just in a pattern of many years of occasionally binge-playing a game until I tire of it, and then my console will sit dormant for 6+ months. I trotted GTA V out and played back through it, which prompted the above.

The first time I played that game, and you get the choice of what to have Franklin do at the end, I had him kill Trevor. And then, as the credits rolled, I felt truly guilty and like a terrible person. I could not imagine choosing to have Franklin kill Michael; that would be the ultimate example of Twain's difference between man and dog.
