I crammed enough into my brain to learn how to parallel-park for the driving test, but I basically then forgot it. I have a general idea of how to do it still, I can picture the steps in my mind's eye, but it just never comes up and I expect it would be a greasefire if I ever try again.
This is pretty much exactly my experience too.
I could parallel park almost perfectly when I did my driving test, but I've hardly had any need to do so at any time since that and if I had to do it now, I'd probably have to settle for a car parked halfway into the street.
My driving instructor had these benchmarks for the car we used based on what showed in the mirrors and on certain points of the windows - it was like "when you see X here, you do Y" and since the driving test was done in his car, that worked out just fine.
Luckily, I've hardly ever needed to parallel park in my 25+ years of having a licence - that may have something to do with me generally living ruraly and, on the few occasions when I've needed to park in more populated and busy areas, being good at going "no - that's too tight. That can't be done. We need to find some place else" in a very convincing voice.
