Coming up on edibles as I watched the TechCrunch presentation, came in my shorts when we got a 5.2 on the Weisman!

My brother is one of those. It's quite embarrassing. Long before I nuked my Facebook altogether, I hid him from my feed because I couldn't take his attempt at having thoughts on the world.

Al Michaels: "I love analytics as much as the next guy, but sometimes you have to throw the analytics in the dumpster."

WHY DO PEOPLE START SENTENCES WITH THAT PARTICULAR STYLE OF LIE? Clearly he does NOT love analytics as much as the next guy. Grumble grumble.

Silicon Valley is such a good show. There is such a brilliant diversity of nutty characters who are still quite believable.

I am, however, discovering that season 5 was a pretty steep dropoff from the prior seasons. As mentioned previously, I remember not being into it as much but wasn't sure how much of it was owing to waiting a week between episodes after having caught up with the show while it was still going on.

It does drop off but it was so good to start with that it still was very watchable in the latter seasons.

I'm not loving TJ Miller, but rather enjoyed the first season. Looking forward to plodding on.

Man, you would have been an easy mark for Erlichs plan

Its certainly not a good season, especially compared to the rest of the series. It does, however, bounce back pretty strongly with S6, especially with the finale.

Season 1 is great but 2 and 3 are significantly better.

LKJ, I watched Silicon Valley and the Office in opposite order of their releases, and when I got to S9 of the Office I stood up and said Holy ****, its him! (Being vague for Bighurts sake)

That may be one of my biggest "Holy ****, it's that guy I love on something else I love" moments ever.

Plop

No, it wouldn't be Plop. Plop is boring and I always think Clark looks more like a Plop.

I'm fairly sure there's a bunch of episodes in season 9 of The Office that I've never seen. For such a personal favorite show, the fact that it actually managed to plunge all the way into "I can't watch this **** anymore" is pretty striking. Usually if I love a show that much then I'll still hang in there for the weaker stuff without issue. The Office was legitimately awful toward the end, though the last few episodes did some great rehab work.

By the way, Gilfoyle's girlfriend being the cell phone hottie was something I somehow either missed or totally forgot until this rewatch. Granted that she doesn't seem to have appeared since season 1 or 2, though he referenced her again at least during season 5.

I liked the early seasons of The Office but also stopped watching it. Obviously the UK original is better though.

I think I’m the opposite. In general a show has to be pretty solid to keep me watching throughout. I tend to drop out of a show 90% of the time

Only show I can remember watching multiple seasons of and not finishing the series (other than Simpsons) is Community after Donald Glover left

I'll go to my grave proud that I quit on LOST at some point in season 3 or 4. Those ****ing bastards, creating such a promising show and then never bothering to actually book with a plan in mind.

Like PJ, I do lose interest and quit plenty of shows, but LOST was specifically designed to keep teasing you with promises that there's some amazing payoff for all of the questions they kept creating, and at some point I had to call bullshit.

I can only remember walking out on one movie in theaters ever - Conan The Barbarian (the remake with Jason Momoa). What a pile of crap (and I had free tickets to a pre-screening).

Heck, I even sat through all of The Green Lantern

I definitely have a greater willingness to quit on books. While I'll get pot-committed at a certain point and force myself to finish it out, I definitely consider myself to be in the add/drop period at pretty much any point during the first half of a book. Reading a crappy book is just too much of a time sink when you could instead move on to a book that might not be crappy.

I’m watching Lost again. Interesting timing. It’s more humorous since I think that is one of the only shows I have finished multiple times. Only other ones I can think of are scrubs (not counting season 9), breaking bad and friends. I’m sure there’s more but I can’t think of any.

I read an interview with one of the creators and he was talking about how their plan was to run 4 seasons at like 12 episodes each, and abc demanded they do like 50 more episodes than they intended so it’s hard for me to blame the writers there.

I always find it jarring to reconcile the fact that Locke is this same dude who played the "start looking for a job" part in Primal Fear.

It's absolutely incredible how different he looks

I never understand the economics of how a show like Grey's Anatomy can just persist on the air for ~20 years. Like, surely the peak was forever ago, and at that point the people on the show were probably able to attain top dollar, after which they still probably get at least modest raises when they re-up, and it seems like a show would just always naturally priced out this way unless it was an insane juggernaut. That show has obviously been successful, but I can't imagine it's anything close to a juggernaut since I'll go like two years in between being reminded that it even still exists.
