Okay, I've kept going (albeit slowly) with this season.

Are you 100% sure that these exist?

Nope. I was wrong. Lard of the Dance has some good moments but its pretty downhill after that

Ah, well I'll probably halt my remaining rewatch then. Quite an epic cliff it fell off from season 9 to 10. Amazing run up until then though.

I did think "Lisa gets an A" was the last solid one I had encountered.

Since its fresh in your mind, in what ways did it change most?

Its strange to me that The Simpsons fell off a major cliff right when I got my first serious girlfriend and wasnt watching 4 syndicated episodes a day. The stars aligned so that I had absolutely nothing to do during the golden years and left with other **** to do in my life right when it got pretty bad.

It just feels like they ran out of ideas. The jokes rarely made me laugh. It's difficult to find anything too much more specific because with most shows you can pinpoint where the plot went off the rails; Simpsons just wasn't a show where I ever tuned in for the story.

Yeah, season 10 was during my first year of college, so it was natural that I dropped off more with it. I wasn't really aware that the show had taken a nosedive. I just dropped off with watching most shows that previously had my attention.

I would guess that they would continue producing Jeopardy after Trebek, but it's incredibly difficult to imagine another full-time host.

Wishing the best for Trebek, but it's even more obvious now that Ken should be taking over.

Seeing that item show up made me go back and watch the “We Love You Alex” Final Jeopardy clip again. Trebek is such a treasure.

But yeah, Ken Jennings is super likable (and obviously ridiculously credible for that role), that’s a really clear direction to go when the time comes.

IMDb TV is ****ing weird. It has commercials, which is fine, since it's available for free as a stand-alone service, but even with a show like this that had natural commercial breakpoints, the commercials just start whenever, including if a character is in mid-sentence. That sort of seems too aggravating to want to stick with watching a full series on it.
This issue went away and there stopped being any commercials. Finished the rewatch. Mad Men remains amazing, and its disappointing finale seemed better this time around than when I thought it was kind of horrible as I watched it live. (It was still a below-average Mad Men episode, so still a disappointing ep to have as the finale.)

Did you ever watch The Boys? Season 2 started up a couple of days ago on prime.

I watched the new Kaufman movie "I'm thinking of ending things" yesterday and was left very disappointed.

The Boys is still showing up in my queue. I keep having tepid enough interest that I haven’t clicked yet. I’m sure I’ll end up trying it.

Id wait till it was all out and see what happens?

I always think leave it until the end it makes it so much better. And i don't think it is that good.

I can see the argument for only diving into series that are fully done. I guess the primary counterpoint is that if fans of the show sour on it in later seasons, they may warn me off of a show where I would at least love the first season or two (see: Lost, Prison Break).

I started to make a second watch of Game of Thrones after it didn't really take for me the first time, but then everyone was so damn mad at the last season that I lost my motivation. Now maybe that show was just never going to click with me, but if it was then the fear of a terrible payoff at the end is potentially causing me to not enjoy several seasons that I might have otherwise really grown to enjoy.

I dunno; I'll probably keep mixing in both finished series and in-progress series. There's still something nice about a new season dropping on a show that you've been following and really want to see more of. There's also the social aspect of being able to discuss new material fresh with people, when they're fresh on it too, as it comes out.

Yeah, I trust enough in the collective recommendation here that I'll give it a go.

I will say, Ozark isn't really taking for me. It's certainly not bad, but it hasn't hooked me into needing to see the next episode.

In 2006, after Peyton Manning cut his famous "idiot kicker" promo from the Pro Bowl, the Colts showed Mike Vanderjagt the door. The Cowboys picked him up, but gave up on him midseason.

Fast-forward to the 2006 playoffs, the Seahawks-Cowboys game where Tony Romo fumbled away the snap of the likely go-ahead FG late, ultimately allowing the Seahawks to hang on and win. I'm at this game. There was a drunk idiot a couple of rows behind me who, throughout the game, kept screaming "VANDERJAGT!" mockingly. I have no idea what his preoccupation was, but he plainly didn't realize that Vanderjagt wasn't even on the Cowboys anymore. All the same, when the Romo fumble play happened, this guy saw it as his crowning moment. He had been taunting Vanderjagt all game, and now Vanderjagt had blown the whole game, setting aside the fact that Vanderjagt wasn't in the stadium - likely wasn't even in the same time zone - and the Cowboys' kicker bore no blame whatsoever for that play. Dude was so happy with his accomplishment.

Of course, that Romo play, and the Seahawks subsequently sealing off the win, made me happy enough that I was able to just be amused at this idiot seeing this as his redemption moment. Still, I've got it at even money that to this day he thinks his taunting of Vanderjagt helped the Seahawks win a playoff game.

I want some shows like Rome, Deadwood or Carnivale to turn up. I loved those shows.

Carnivale was fantastic. Last week I decided I'm due for a rewatch. Watched in 2010 and 2014.

The thirst for the Browns to be good is, as always, gross, and people are wrong to have that thirst. It's okay if certain franchises only ever line the birdcage.

Two episodes into The Boys and I'm already a huge fan. This looks incredibly promising.
