Country music offers its "I'm sorry; I love you" moment from one performer in her prime to a legend that can't go anymore.

I texted a friend during this performance and said, "It has to be kind of heartbreaking to carry your hero like that."

And then to be able to flip over to watch UW lose to a bad Colorado team who we crushed 41-10 a handful of weeks ago.

(...we'll still lose the Apple Cup on Friday.)

I think they need to recalibrate their win probability algorithm.

Just looking at the play-by-play: OSU ball up by 6, 2nd and 5 near midfield with 2 minutes to go. WSU with 1 timeout.

A WSU win given those parameters doesn't even sound like a 1 in 100 event, much less a 1 in 1,000 event. Sure, they're big underdogs in that spot. But 99.9% is absurd.

You underestimate just how miraculous it was for the ****ing terrible WSU defense to actually make a stop.

But really, I agree with you. I even doubted the authenticity of the screenshot. But given that I recalled your previous post, I shrugged at the possibility of spreading fake news and ran to this thread with it.

I want immediate termination for any announcer who ever capes for a bad call. And not a nice, quiet, friendly pink slip. We're talking termination including the employer screaming highly personal, over-the-line insults at the top of his lungs.

First offense, no slack. Straight to the firing line. You have ****ing slow-motion replays to look at. You're ****ing paid to talk. Call a spade a spade or don't involve yourself in the industry.

Also, watching these football announcers try to ready copy and then adlib for WWE programming is super cringeworthy.

It really is. Bonus points when one announcer cues the other with "you're into that WWE stuff, right?" and the other guy clearly isn't and then pretends that he is. I've heard multiple instances of that.

I see that the "Riverboat Ron or not, I don't chase points in the first half - check the analytics and take the points" buffoon has even spicier takes.

FWIW I'm pretty unconvinced in context that the comment in question can reasonably be labeled as racist, but it was so brutally tone-deaf that the 49ers were right to take the action they did.

IIRC it was LKJ who introduced me to “Norm Saves the Interview,” which I still watch for a pick me up:

Caught this classic Norm bit for the first time this morning and am sharing in case others hadn’t seen it yet.

I use "heel turn" occasionally when talking to normal people (read: not wrestling fans) about non-wrestling things, and I keep expecting a "WTF" reaction. People seem to always just understand what I'm saying. Is this that widespread of a term?

I've heard the term outside of wrestling contexts, so maybe it is that mainstream.

Even if not, the context of what people say when using it usually makes the meaning pretty clear.

Seahawks make what appears to be a clinching first down by getting the yards and getting tackled inbounds with 2:13 left and Carolina having no timeouts. They call Carolina for having committed illegal contact on the play, which is declined, and then the clock just remains stopped. By committing a penalty, it kept some sliver of hope alive for Carolina and kept the Seahawks from just kneeling it out.

Didn't end up mattering since they just made another first down, but WTF. If that was enforced properly by the officials in that game, that aspect of the NFL's time-keeping rules seems indefensible. I cannot imagine a rationale for why the non-penalized team wouldn't have the option of letting the clock roll.

I think its gotten to be actually. Maybe the stone cold years accelerated its acceptance and people in our age range who may not watch anymore but did then have inccorporated it into the lexicon

FWIW I think “no sell” has the best ROI in terms of a wrestling term for everyday use (e.g., “my kids regularly no sell my parenting” or “I no sold that *** chewing”)
