I don't have that kind of filter

to the NFL off-season so far. Whether I agree or disagree with the moves Chip has made in the last few weeks (I still think Shady is better than Murray), it has been entertaining. I've tried to remain level-headed throughout this process while watching the rest of the fanbase melt down. Yesterday was a much better day for everyone. I also think Bradford can be an upgrade over Foles, but damn man, you gotta stay healthy.

I'd jump into the discussion at SE, but I'm afraid to look there. Of course there are good posters, but I find that they are overrun by trolls most of the time.

Someone said in SE that it looked like Chip was a 10-year-old playing Madden franchise mode for the first time, which I thought was well put.

I thought the trade with Buffalo was a nice start for Philly, but basically everything they did after that looks loony to me.

First week of free agency was definitely incredibly entertaining around the league though. Pretty floored that Jimmy Graham is a Seahawk now. I have significant worries about our offensive line (at least from a pass blocking standpoint), but after initially having a somewhat negative reaction to that move I've at least somewhat come around on it.

I did like the Maxwell, Graham signing and I'm one of the few who think the McCoy trade was good. But yeah, had that not done anything else now until the draft, I would have been fine. But it isn't like Chip is destroying a dynasty, he's doing what he thinks is right and if it doesn't work he goes back to college. I admire him for having the guts to do what he thinks though, even if it isn't popular. I hope Murray works out and am excited to have him, but I can't see it. I'm not even expecting 1,000 yards from him.

The Seahawks will be fine. Ever since Pete took over they have always found a way to make it work.

Maxwell is a good player, but they dropped a pretty disproportionately massive amount of money on him. I wouldn't count on him to justify the payday he just got, but he'll play well.

Maybe he was getting offers from elsewhere? Who the hell knows what Chip is doing at this point? I'm also worried that Maxwell will be a massive bust ala Nnamdi Asomugha.

Eagles offseason is a fun discussion right now.

The Bradford thing is interesting. My initial reaction was to laugh at the notion that taking consistently injured QB Sam Bradford and throwing him in an offense that's played at a high pace and gotten 3 QBs injured in 2 seasons. After looking at it more though they actually don't allow that many QB hits. Last year Stl gave up the 10th most (93) and Philly was 24th (64). Maybe it can work? It's hard to judge a QB that had a bad OLine and no real threats offensively during his initial stint. Guy obviously had talent so maybe he can make it work.

Really liked the McCoy for Alonso deal, but I have little love for RBs. Did not like the Murray signing. Dude was a monster last year, but don't really think the fit is right. Dallas OLine was really, REALLY good last year and think it was absolutely correct to let him walk for that price. He'll still produce well, but that's a lot of money you can spend elsewhere and get similar production from a cheaper signing. I thought it was a very odd series of moves where on one hand it looks like you have a (imo) good view of how RB's get overvalued and you can capitalize off getting rid of them for a good return but then they turn around and spend on another RB? Shrug. In fact, when they signed Mathews (or even when it was rumored Gore) I thought the series of moves made a ton of sense and liked it a lot. Mathews is injury prone (as is murray) but he has skills. Think he could have put up some good numbers.

Maxwell is good and frankly that was something they definitely needed help on. Even if it is an overpay like I see people mention, I'd rather overpay and get the help I need then try to find a bargain and have an atrocious secondary again.

Overall I think they had a fine offseason and improved.

As much as I dislike Suh, I also like the Dolphins offseason. Suh + Stills and - Wallace is promising.

What do you think of Tannehill? Still think there's any sort of significant upside, or his ceiling Daltonesque?

To me, Cris Collinsworth is the best color guy in any sport by miles and miles. IRL I only have one friend who agrees with me about that, a couple of others who think he's okay, and a whole bunch who absolutely hate him. In SE I see people rip on him too. Went to school with a friend who was an Eagles fan and swore up and down that "Collinsworth hates the Eagles." I mean yeah, that Bengals-Eagles rivalry is the stuff of legend...

Dude must be popular with some significant segment of the public or he probably wouldn't have continued to be promoted until he found himself alongside Al Michaels, but I can never find these people who like him. Also he really doesn't strike me as the type that would be more popular with the average casual viewer than he is with hardcore viewers, but maybe he must be? Or maybe I'm just experiencing a goofy sample size.

I assume we are talking national broadcasts and not local right? I may be a homer, but the Kruk & Kuip combo calling Giants games has been the best in the business a long time.

Don't have a problem with Collingsworth at all. Good voice, really knows his stuff.

Mostly was thinking national because obviously there are people like the ones you named who I'm not familiar with (if Kruk is John Kruk then I remember him as a player, but I've never heard him announce).

If the Giants have an excellent broadcasting duo then I'm jealous. Listening to Mariner TV broadcasts in the post-Niehaus era is really tough. The color guy, Mike Blowers, has developed into a very solid one, but the play-by-play guy is pretty damn bad.

Kruk is Mike Krukow, former Giants pitcher in the 80s and Kuip is Duane Kuiper, former giants 2b. Kuip does pbp, and Kruk does color. They've been with the Giants since 94 I think, and are excelent. I never really knew how bad some local guys were until having to Brave pbp while living in TN, holy **** it's bad.

I guess color is much more important in Baseball because of the downtime, so it's a good thing the M ' s have a good color guy, but I do find bad pbp very distracting

John Kruk has done color for espn MLB broadcasts back when they had some rights, he wasn't terrible, but not very good.

Lkj, have you seen many games at Safeco? Suggestions on best places to sit for both cheap and more pricey (NL west plays AL West in interleague thid year so I'll be shelling out for some good seats for the Giants games)
Wrestling OT/LC Thread: We'll Stop Talking About Star Wars Eventually Quote

Yeah, been to Safeco many times. Obviously been a while at this point, but still. I always loved the lower seats in right field as the best bargain in the park. Looks like they still go for under $30. To me, the right field seats are far better than foul territory in the outfield. Still, along the foul lines anywhere is a good seat; I always like those a lot better than sitting behind home plate.

The super cheap general admission seats in center field are okay - there really aren't particularly bad seats in Safeco - but I always thought it was annoying to sit under the jumbotron and not be able to see the replays and stuff (from some of them you can see by turning around when it's on, but meh at that).

Like wrestling, if you're going to be bad, it at least helps if you're comically bad.

I think he has the potential to be a tier 2 QB if things pan out, though things panning out is a dog to happen. He has a good arm, can make a lot of the throws, has the ability to be mobile, and goes through stretches where his decision making is good. He gets sacked a ton and that's a combo of him holding the ball too long, trying to extend plays when he should just throw them away, and his oline being mediocre. He kind of reminds me of early Ben in that way (on the field, not being a scumbag off the field). The most likely scenario is he just doesn't fix those things and he ends up being a liability, but if it's something that he's able to adjust then the potentials there imo.

Kruk and Kuip do the commentary on MVP Baseball 2005. Still a very good game even today.

Oh yeah, I forgot about this. Really good game. Pretty much the last good baseball game made for a Microsoft console.

I just got a PS4 after owning an XBox 360 on the last generation of consoles, and a primary motivator was PS4's exclusive lock on an MLB franchise that everyone seems to love. I'll get the 2015 edition when it comes out at the end of the month.
