Game 7 will be on my birthday. I like to think that the Hockey Gods will give me a break for once and have the Leafs win the series on my birthday.

I also hate fans who hate on success just for the sake of hating on success, which in spite of my Boston hate does allow me to be semi-sympathetic to the Patriots. See: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...&postcount=193
One of the nice things about the sf giants recent success is that you dont much of the hate purely for hating on the success

FYI, if you go to the Sporting Events forum the NBA regs are doing an interesting (and entertaining) draft where the participants draft players based on brief "scouting reports" (it's run by Assani Fisher). ... Now, it won't be any time real soon, but I am in the early stages of setting up a wrestling draft that will work the same way. Just for a little different take on the drafts we have done.

Yeah I haven't booked my dates yet but I should be there for a good part of early July and hopefully the main if I don't run too bad from now until then.

There's a guy who I share an office with who I detest, and I'm at least as openly rude to him as I am to Burdz. He responds by loving me.

Conclusion: negging works on men too.

Not to give away secrets of the trade, but I'd believe reacting negatively to your rudeness would only enable it further.

Meh this guy isn't the same as you. He's truly the biggest ******* that I've ever met in my life without exaggeration and is a total dick to everyone, yet for some reason likes me. And I'm ruder to him than most people are. It's confounding.

I guess he does share the Massachusetts connection with you. I mentioned him to my friend from Vermont who is his polar opposite in terms of kindness, one of those nice guys who won't trash on anyone ever, and his weak defense was to pause and then say, "...well you have to understand, he's from Boston. People from there are just like that."

Boston is very diverse, so there's a big difference from growing up in a laid-back, community-driven part like Jamaica Plain (where I live), and Southie, which is basically an Irish Jersey Shore. Most of my good friends here are all transplants, as am I (from western MA, where everyone has nothing better to do than pump out kids, be stubborn, and fear driving to Boston, but no accents either). Ultimately, it's silly to judge someone primarily on where they grew up; it's how they were brought up and who they surround themselves with.

This guy is a piece of work. I was in my office one day when a supervisor came in and said, "Hey, you don't happen to know Derek <last name>?" My heart immediately dropped. He was my least favorite classmate in law school and I had hoped I'd seen him for the last time. Instead I knew that question meant I was about to work with him.

Fast forward a week, and I was working when I suddenly heard his voice behind me saying, "THIS GUY!" to the person showing him around. I kept a polite face and stood up to shake hands with him. As I extended my hand I heard him say, "No, bring it in." I thought, "...what?" Before I fully processed the whole situation, he had grabbed my outstretched hand and pulled me into a hug, as I undoubtedly looked forward terrified.

He proceeded to go back to his total prick self the second no supervisors were around, but he would pretty much openly claim me as one of his good friends from law school, so I had to work hard to disassociate myself from him (so that his behavior wouldn't reflect on me at all) while still remaining professional. A year later I'm still stuck in an office with him. Torturous.

This sounds like a sitcom pilot waiting to be written.

Not sure about a sitcom, but this does inspire me to write a sketch about it. I of course will be playing LKJ's character.
