It sure did big-time damage to the NWA reboot. I remain really frustrated with that.
I tried throwing NWA a Fite.tv subscription, but I sort of require a peanut gallery to watch this stuff with me, and nobody around here is watching it anymore. So I eventually unsubscribed. It's one thing when the show was on YouTube for free, but I know I'm not going to rally support for a $5/month subscription model. I do keep being tempted to go back because they're still posting interesting stuff on social media, but meh.
Khan recently mentioned a dream signing recently. Young Bucks appeared in Hardy attire this week, a similar tease happened before Punk's reveal. Andrade and Matt were last seen onscreen heading off to "talk business." As Andrade's been attempting to buy up talent lately, this leads to thinking he'll "buy" the HFO outright from Big Money Matt. Who will then ride solo for a bit until he's in trouble and needs help...
I caught a clip on Twitter that was just Flair emerging through the curtains at #3, causing Heenan to express his anguish and Monsoon to crow, "You can kiss it goodbye!" Such a great moment in time. I loved that handful of years when the only wrestlers who got their theme music played during the Rumble were #1 and 2 (and the eventual winner).
For those not paying attention to NXT (probably everyone at this point), WWE trademarked "Gunther Stark" recently. A simple internet search would have shown that to be the name of a relatively famous Nazi commander, leading many to understandably ask "what the ****?".
Anyhoo, Walter won his main event on NXT this week and announced his name for some reason is now Gunther.
Walter has been using "Walter" on WWE TV for 3 years, including over 2 years as UK champion and appearances at several US and UK Takeovers and a Survivor Series.
And now the only Austrian performer in WWE history is named after a Nazi. LOL this company.
I can only determine that Vince killed NXT because it was so much better than Raw.
The worst period of wrestling was the early 90's when everyone had to be a character. For some reason, this seems to be what Vince has gone back to. Everyone has a cartoon gimmick again. Even Drew McIntyre went from a badass to a guy who looks ridiculous carrying around a giant sword. Roman seems to be the only serious person on the roster. Maybe some of the girls too.
This jackass took Killer Kross (or whatever they were calling him), put him in gladiator gear, made him look like an idiot, then determined he wasn't getting over after a month. Vince and Bruce's form of entertainment doesn't entertain anyone anymore. They're not going to change. I don't even think AEW challenging them like WCW did back in the late 90s is enough to push Vince anymore.
The worst thing that ever happened to wrestling fans was the WWE stock going public.
