Attendance figures/ticket sales were horrible this week. Vince always has to do something and well he knows those two guys and ratings were better for those guys that failed than wwe's getting now so here we are.

So did anybody read or hear the thing that Tommy Dreamer just publicly announced he plotted a murder (Paul Heyman)/suicide at a past Wrestlemania?

Too many head shots?

Theres about a 300% chance that Tommy has CTE, but the thinking is that he was just majorly depressed and had visions of grandeur.

Either way, its magnificently ****ed up, and hopefully hes been in good, constant therapy since then.

Clearly nonsense.

Watch as Bayley describes life on the road as a WWE superstar and the interviewer is absolutely flabbergasted at WWE's treatment of talent.

They're all going from the same places to the same places, right? So why aren't there chartered buses? Seems cheaper than everyone renting their own car.

Well in the territory days, and I'm sure today, a lot of the boys would ride together. Some of the best stories come from the road. Besides, if they chartered buses, where would they stop to eat:

Not necessarily. People on different schedules, different house show tours, different obligations during the day etc. People ride share and split driving, costs, etc as it is.

FS1 deleted the tweet. Clearly someone realized how embarrassing it was for WWE.

Based on how things look when the house lights come up, they may want to start playing HS gyms on the house-show circuit.

You'd think Piper's win over The Mountie in 1991 would've solidified an undying love of wrestling for the Springfield residents that would live on forever.

I'm shocked that they aired it in the first place.

I went to 1 of their house shows last Sunday. It was empty. 1/3 the size of the crowd when I saw Smackdown at the same venue. Tickets were close to the same price which didn't help.

Flair > becky

Lacey > becky

bailey and becky > pregnant kong?

I would like to see some new interpretations of older characters, like passing the torch from Flair to Flair. It works with Flair for a reason, people are invested in the character. A new hulk, macho man, stone cold, undertaker, etc... There's only one brock, but the others are worth trying. Sgt Lacey would crush in this economy.

Pretty sure Matt Riddle thinks he's gonna be the new Brock when he gets called up .

I'd be pretty interested in seeing them try that stuff. Didn't Jay Lethal impersonate multiple icons in TNA? iirc that was received pretty well. idk if it'd work well as a long term thing though.

Yea, I guess we can call it the beast character. It doesn't have to be a literal interpretation like the Jay Lethal stuff, even though that was classic in its own right. Could carry over finishers and some iconic catchphrases and let it evolve.

Happened to catch Impact this week. They seem to be positioning Tessa Blanchard as their top star. She's wrestling guys in hardcore matches with bats and stuff. The funny thing is that nothing even really seems wrong or unbelievable about it. Maybe it's because wrestlers on average (or at least those she's working with) aren't as big anymore.

Came across this little nugget of information during my YouTube surfing, which may be of interest to some of the older fans...

Cornette and Sullivan were talking about Vince Sr's relation ship with Eddie Graham down in Florida. When they were looking to move away from more ethnic types like Bruno and Pedro Morales, Vince called Eddie and told him he wanted an All American boy as the new face of their product.

Vince was particularly looking at a young Bob Backlund, who ended up getting the spot and a six year run with the belt. But it came down to Backlund or another young wrestler Graham was pushing for, who he really thought could be a star in that spot.

The WWE champion of the late 70's/early 80's very nearly was...Steve Keirn.

While WWE fans of the dog days of the cartoonish era of the early 90's might remember him as Skinner, Keirn was actually part of my earliest non-WWE exposure in the early to mid-80's. He was part of the Fabulous Ones (w/ Stan Lane), who's gimmick was basically male strippers (not that I realized that at the time). They were feuding with the Road Warriors at the time back when the AWA/NWA used to run a weekly televised show together.

I wonder how different WWE history would have been had Graham succeeded. If Keirn had failed, would they have then gone to Backlund or someone else? Would that have changed Hulkamania afterward?

I doubt anything was changing Hulkamania.

Wrestling is full of these scenarios, though (weighing two guys for a big push) and they are fascinating.

I agree that Hogan was probably going to be a thing no matter what, though obviously the timing could have varied.

The seemingly well-accepted fact that Austin wasn't the originally scheduled winner of KOTR '96 does leave me wondering just how inevitable he was. Obviously he was a tremendous talent well before Vince took him on, but it feels like he could have been squandered. Wrestling is full of examples of great talents making bad material work, but Austin wasn't particularly getting over as The Ringmaster.

They also almost killed The Rock dead before he could ever take off, of course. And if not for his lineage, they may have never attempted a reboot.

Yeah, Hulkamania was always going to be a thing, but say Keirn gets the belt and doesn't work out like Backlund. They need to make a switch three or four years into things. Maybe they find someone else who catches fire before Hogan is ready. Maybe Hogan stays with Verne and becomes a huge star there. AWA becomes a big deal (although I don't think Verne had the vision or ambition Vince had).

Austin at least was there already and that character was going to come out and shine sooner or later either way, but yeah, we don't get that KotR moment and Stone Cold kickoff if the Kliq Curtain Call doesn't happen.
