I can see the finals of the tournament now. Reigns vs. Big E. Big E with the upset/interference win over Reigns to a huge pop. Reigns with 2 superman punches to Kofi & Woods, spear on Big E. Sheamus comes down for the cash in, Brouge Kick to a recovered Big E. New Champ & horrible TV from now to the Royal Rumble.

Sucks for Seth getting injured, but I feel like this could get me interested in WWE for about 3 hours after not watching any of it really since Wrestlemania. Maybe I really just like all things tournament related.

Here's how I would consider booking an eight man tournament

Reigns beats Big Show, Show is a sore loser and lands a KO punch after the match
Sheamus beats Neville
Owens beats Ambrose
Del Rio and Ryback have a double count out

Reigns beats Sheamus, who attacks Reigns after the match
Owens has a bye

Reigns beats Owens, who, in a pattern, attacks Reigns after the match, followed by a Sheamus MITB cash-in.

I'd also run qualifying matches on Raw, with Reigns, Owens, and Del Rio getting automatic spots and the other five spots being determined.

The long-term plan would be to get Reigns over with a brawl to regain the title from Sheamus, with plans for Cena to win the Rumble, setting up Reigns-Cena for Wrestlemania.

Why would Sheamus even enter the tourney when he has the briefcase?

In fact, I assume that HHH is going to strip Rollins of the title on Raw, either this week or next. Why wouldn't Sheamus cash in then (from a kayfabe perspective, that is)?

It gives him two ways to win the title. Should Sheamus refuse all title shots while he holds the briefcase?

This is the perfect time for a reigns heel turn. The authority wants to keep the belt and with Rollins out they need someone else. it writes itself.

Not all title shots, because a single match with the champ gives him two ways to win.

But a tourney where he has to win 3 times vs merely cashing in against a guy who already wrestled 3 times is a no-brainer.

It's not like the briefcase expires that night. It's not an either/or.

With regards to Reigns, if I were in charge, I wouldn't change a thing. The way they have been going, I think it all pointed to Reigns either winning at SS or somehow getting screwed and winning at the Rumble. So I would just stick to that plan.

The problem is if you are going to screw him, who would they put as champ? I don't think it matters all that much who it is since it's only a transition thing for two months. You could go Sheamus or Ambrose or a part timer as the champ and then have them drop it at the Rumble.

Is it a case of right place, right time for the Mexican Randy Orton, Alberto Del Rio, as a guy who has the right look and persona to be someone who the Authority would want as a champion?
