Wasn't someone just mentioning that punk isn't very egotistical?

Yes, someone whose posting history includes a fierce defense of Tamina being hot.

Is punk gonna come to the ring as phil Brooks? Cuz I mean, as idiotic as it is to introduce a fighter by a stage name it would be even stupider if they didn't

Has to be CM Punk. He walked around at 225ish didn't he? Could fight at 205 if that's true (lol fighting Bones). If he could get down to 185...he'd still get killed.

Punk is a natural 185 with 170 potential if he's a freak that can handle the cuts.

The top 205 guys have massive frames except for maybe Cormier who is a whole different monster.

A quick wiki check says Punk was 218. Cutting 33 shouldn't be tough as he was a "pudgy" 218. Still, he's way too old and slow to have any success at 185 (or anything really)

C'mon. Even NBA and NFL listed heights and weights are jokes.

Punk looks like a slight 6'2" at absolute most. 170 is very in play and he'll get fed two or three professional opponents and, if he shows anything, will then get worked by a real fighter and retire. But I think he'll represent himself admirably.

That's not the issue. Whether he weights 218 or 205 is largely immaterial. If he really intends to fight at 185 or 170, he'll need to cut a ton of weight AND he'll be competing with younger athletes without similar injury histories and who very likely possess better speed. The lower he goes the more embarrassing it will be for him imo.

At 170 he won't be so quickly KO'ed, he'll just get solidly outpointed for 15 minutes while everyone laughs.

There's also a little issue for Dana and the UFC in terms of marketing him. With Brock, he had the bona fides (and the fact that he's a goddamn moster) to sell him as legitimate. With Punk, there's nothing there that gives any indication he won't be laughable. But you have to keep him on PPV, because if you waste his draw on UFC on Fox or something and he gets ****housed, you've blown your chance. Putting him on a PPV against a tomato can is going to draw a lot of flack too. Will be interesting to see how the schedule all of this.

Dana White says he is sceptical of weather punk can fight. Says 6 to 7 months before he fights

The real issue is how much Seth Petruzelli is going to make off this knockout

I actually realised how tough it is going to be for Punk.

Looking at this http://www.ufc.co.nz/fighter/Weight_Class/Welterweight is probably his best chance. But I doubt he would come close to any of the top guys.

If he goes lower than that he will look terrible and if he goes much higher he will get knocked out.

I assume they will just feed him some weak ass opponents. Unless Dana thinks people will pay to see him get pounded every month.

If there were any athlete I'd want to see knocked out, it would be CM Punk. It will be like Cena facing Brock at SummerSlam. I hope he has fun .

Dana White spoke with ESPN about CM Punk signing with UFC.

“He wanted to fight here,” White said. “He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity. It’s not like Brock Lesnar. We’re not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. (CM Punk) going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 — something like that.”

See if they were smart they would try to get another non-UFC fighter to face him in a UFC rules fight.

Yeah they should do this and then just start having gimmick matches. Put Rousey in there as special guest ref or something.
