Just went to Graham's Wiki page. Never knew about this.

Quote:
Graham went on a public awareness campaign regarding the dangers of steroids during this time, including an appearance with McMahon on The Phil Donahue Show in 1992. During the Donahue taping Graham claimed to have witnessed WWF officials sexually abuse children. McMahon claimed the abuse had never taken place, and Graham later admitted that he made up the allegations, hoping to extort "hush money" out of the WWF.
What a scumbag.

What a scumbag.

What probably happened, was those accusations were true and McMahon told him he would give him x amount of money if he would say he made that up.

I mean certainly that's possible I guess, but that post kind of illustrates the point about how ****ty it is to make up salacious accusations; people tend to want to believe and convict regardless of anything that is said or done afterward.

This is the article that expands on the snippet above FWIW: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2011-...killing-him/4/

Anyway, sorry, I've veered off-topic a bit here. I'm looking forward to the thread advancing tomorrow, since I've continued to work ahead a bit. I've got thoughts written down on the ones that I've watched.

Wow. My bad. Didn't realize it was like that. I always thought Ventura wanted to be Superstar Graham, so I assumed Billy Graham was doing well for himself. Ok when are we doing WM2, which I just watched.

Dylan listed the WrestleMania 1 period as ending after Raw tomorrow night, so I assume that we move straight to 2 after that.

I watched it... It was obviously LOL worthy. But since it's the only one so far....

Rankings:

1. Wrestlemania 1

I've been dreading watching it myself.

It's not significantly worse than the first one. Strong endorsement I realize.

Wrestling-wise, probably not, but the commentary is infinity times worse.

I would say that the wrestling is actually a bit better overall, but yes, aside from the middle section with Gorilla/Gene the commentary is AIDS.

The production stuff and the lack of bonus for being the first is why I have the second lower.

I watched it the other night but fell asleep. I'll try and watch the last couple of matches tomorrow.

It can't be overstated how great Jesse Ventura is. The announcing alone probably adds at least one full mark to my overall rating. Most of the wrestling has been pretty bad, especially compared to the first couple of Starrcades.

Watched Mania 2 over the weekend.

I really like the three city idea, but what it did to the commentary was awful. You can feel the try-hard in all the celeb placement, and while understandable, it feels so off putting and unnecessary (event though I assume it wasn't).

It's kinda amazing how much the guys like Jake separate themselves from the other folks, both in terms of look and ability.

I can't believe I didn't know that IRS and Windham were a tagteam. And a face one no less.

Lol @Sheik selling that dropkick. "I'm ahh...ok I guess I got hit...let me just step out of the ring here".

I really wanted to watch WM 1 and 2. I just can't do it. I'm with you guys on 3 though. That was my first wrestling memory as a kid, when I was six. Seeing Billy Jack get busted open by Hercules chain made me a fan for life. Bundy squishing midget was good to.

Why didn't they just do Hogan/Piper at WM 2? I've never seen Hogan/Bundy or Piper/Mr. T but I can't imagine Hogan/Piper being a worse match than either.

Do we know how much of the boxing match was work vs shoot? If it was all a work, it's pretty great booking. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed that, as I'm not a fan of boxing at all.

I saw someone say on this board that Piper didn't want to do that main event and just go under Hogan, though I have a hard time buying that given the respective paydays of being on the main event vs. the undercard. It certainly would have been the more sensible match, with Piper being the top heel in the company.

My most recent viewing of Hogan vs. Bundy, I actually didn't think it was terrible like I had thought of it previously. Mr. T vs. Piper is WOAT.

I mean I think it had to all be work, if you leave any part as a shoot then obviously you risk an accidental ending.

Reading Piper's book you would think it was a shoot, but it's so poorly written I don't know if he is kayfabing the entire book, or what.

Piper legit hating Mr. T and thinking that he was very difficult to work with seems to be a shoot, so there's that.

Piper said the reason that he didn't face Hogan 1v1 at Wrestlemania I was because they had recently wrestled 1v1 on a special event the WWF had on MTV. They again faced each other 1v1 on a PPV that occurred between the first two Wrestlemanias.

Incidentally, that PPV (The Wrestling Classic) was better than either Wrestlemania I or II.

I thought The Wrestling Classic was pretty bad in a lot of ways. It was impressive how bad it was, considering that it featured four Savage matches, three Dynamite Kid matches, and specifically Savage vs. Steamboat and Savage vs. Dynamite. All of the ridiculous endings and the fact that they didn't give many matches more than three minutes all night really brought it down.
