The thing is, I caught that you had it as a World title match when it was the WWE title at stake ... but then somehow brain-farted after making the change and not seeing you then had two WWE title matches.

We can share in the misery.

Going off the match board, here's what could have been had as a card:

12 — Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin (13)
10 — IC title: Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage (3)
10 — Tag title TLC: Edge/Christian vs. Hardys vs. Dudleys (17)
10 — The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan (18)
8 — Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio (21)
8 — MITB: CM Punk vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Carlito vs. Chris Jericho vs. Mr. Kennedy vs. John Morrison vs. MVP (24)
8 — Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker (25)
7 — Women’s title: Trish Stratus vs Mickie James (22)
7 — WWE title: Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle (19)
5 — Mr. Perfect vs. Blue Blazer (Owen Hart) (5)

That would have netted an 85. Holy ****.

I also can't believe Guerrero/Mysterio at WM 21 got 8 picks. I mean, I looked at it, too, but wow.

I guess the best way to do judging is to have everyone pick a top 3 using a 3-2-1 points system ... participants and non-participants can vote. You cannot vote for your own card, though.

20 participants, 10 matches per participant = 200 match selections but my match listings have just 197 "points" ... I'm doing a typical sports reporter's job over here.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.

I'm appreciative of those who picked Warrior squashing HHH as one of their matches. I did consider it myself. It's fun to watch it even as someone who completely hates the Warrior.

8 picks?? That's weird. Once I knocked Guerrero/Angle off my card, I never so much as looked at an Eddie match again.

Also, I'll give extra consideration to everyone who had Dream Team/Bulldogs. I had that on several versions, it's a gem that's completely forgotten by being on the worst Mania ever.

Just noticed you've got Edge on your card twice, antidan.

WM 2 was terrible but I have a hard time putting it behind WM IX simply because it feels more excusable or something due to lack of talent. Meanwhile WM IX is sandwiched in between perhaps two of the top five Manias ever.

I'd have a hard time putting WM 8 as top five all-time, but hey, I'm getting everything wrong today so ...

In no order: 3, 10, 17 are doubtlessly my top three. Then I think there's a cluster of Manias that compete for the next two spots to round out the top five, and I think that cluster includes 8. But I haven't put a ton of thought into this.

Agreed with the top 3, I have 20 a cut above the rest as well. I'm not sure about 8, it's really just a 2-match show.

My bottom 3 goes 2, 9, 4 with 11 and 15 close.

8 has the two great matches, has the great Warrior return moment at the end, and has the greatest three hours of commentary of any WrestleMania ever. That last bit does a lot for me. Also the beginning of Shawn Michaels' rise of a singles wrestler, the passing of the creepy babyface torch from Jake to Undertaker, there's just a lot I like about that show.

I can't bring myself to put 4 in my bottom group mostly because as a Savage mark I have too much appreciation for his tournament win when I stand back from it. But it was individually pretty much devoid of great matches so it's a little tough to defend.

Very good point about the commentary, it made it a really entertaining show for more than just the wrestling.

I still absolutely lose it at

G: "Highly unlikely you're going to pin someone with a side headlock."
B: "I've pinned a few people with it."
<pause>
G: "You?"
B: "Yes."
G: "What, in your dreams?"
B: "I can beat a man a million different ways. I once had a guy give up during instructions."

Heenan whistling to HBK's theme always does it for me. And then there's...

Heenan (about Sherri): There's MY pin-up girl!
Monsoon: You need to see your oculist!
Heenan: There's nothing wrong with my feet.

How come so many people put the womens title match on their card?

I considered it as my original plan was to have every title defended on the card. Once I realised that would mean having the Hardcore, Womens and ECW I decided to scrap that plan.

I did almost put the Divas match where Santina wins just to have a bit of a break between the matches and include a nice fun moment.

In the end I think my card became a bit of a mess because the combos I wanted kept making me have to change other matches.

Would have had Warrior/Hogan to close my card but cut it because of the IC title being involved.

The fact I ended up with 3 ladder matches was pretty bad. Should have picked Steamboat/Flair over Michales/Ramon but wanted to keep that one in as it was the beginning of cool ladder matches. It probably wouldn't look as good when compared with the other spot fests on my card though.

I had a number of reasons: It's a title match, it's a good match to bring the crowd down a bit after a huge emotional match, and it might very well be the best women's match WWE has ever seen.

Steamboat/Flair? Assuming you mean Savage/Flair.
