Are they going for a Screw Job 2.0 with Ronda?

Prediction for tonight's Raw:

Baron Corbin: Last ni...

Crowd: Boos for 10 straight minutes.

Vince's mind: Damn I'm good.

Becky did seem genuinely surprised that that was a three, as she should on a backslide, but still

Mania was a cool experience, and I'm glad I did it once in my life. With that said, I will NEVER go to one again, unless I'm blessed and fortunate enough for the literal best seats in the house.

Biggest complaint by far--WWE didn't show entrances on the big screen for the audience. Like, What the ****? Metlife stadium holds 80,000. the majority of people are sitting in seats bad enough where we are watching each match on the big screen anyway. The theatrical entrances are one of the coolest things about Wrestlemania. For every single match, during entracnes, the big screens just showed the wrestlers name and nothing else. Really inexplicable and terrible. I have to rewatch it on the network just to see them.

On the same note my tickets were 300ish face value for the 200 section, and I still was so far away from the ring that I was watching every match on the big screen. I'm sure people on the secondary market paid way more than that for seats way higher and worse. Wrestling just wasn't meant to be held in giant outdoor stadiums. Way more excited about going to Smackdown Tuesday in a smaller venue (and shorter ).

I also just thought the card kind of sucked. Kofi/Bryan was excellent, and the crowd was hot for it. I literally didn't care for another single match on the card.

I absolutely hated the main event. yes I was just beyond tired and cranky, but I just kept sitting there thinking, ok, Becky is going over, which is fine and cool, the fans love her. But here I am watching Charlotte and Ronda just both look so infinitely better as professional wrestlers. The 2 of them just kept trading impressive looking power spots to a totally dead crowd reaction and then they'd all give a quick pop for becky just hitting a weak looking forearm.

And then it was over. Out of nowhere. IMO, WWE has done everything wrong in this Becky storyline. They overbooked the **** out of her arc where she went from 'big underdog story' to 'girl who a) needed Ronda Rousey to get her back in the main event and b) who has nothing to lose up against 2 women who can each lose a championship', then did absolutely nothing to elevate her by having her fluke go over a dominant star. I love Charlotte and was hoping Vince put her over to make the fans mad, but even accepting Becky was the likely winner I never thought I'd be walking out of Mania mad at the main event. I expected better.

I did pop one single time during the show. Haven't read through the thread yet besides the main event commentary so I don't know how it was received by the rest of the board.

Heh, I was pretty much sober by the time the show ended. We drank a ton during the day (tailgated from like 12:30pm till we went in at 6) and then for the next 6 hours I only had a single beer inside. F paying $13 per beer after I've been drinking for free all day. Also didn't want to literally fall asleep.

Actually bought a hot chocolate before the Roman match lol. It got ****ing cold towards the end.

Ronda screwed Ronda.

Overall, very few matches were well conceived, booked and executed even if the results were right in some instances.

Thoughts on Miz/Shane live? Crowd seemed fairly dead for it but on the show I think it came off as a top 3 match with a poorish finish.

I remember going into the day being disappointed at the falls count anywhere stip because I would have to watch that one on the big screen. Didn't realize that would be every match

Crowd definitely was dead for it. Aside from the effective heel turn in Miz' hometown specifically, it still doesn't feel like Shane really gets heel heat widestream.

A Shane big PPV match is always gonna have cool spots, but the combination of the confusing finish/Shane pinfall and Shane's redirkulous kickout of that Skull Crushing Finale ruined the match for me.

I agree with this yet my overall impression is that it was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

My thoughts on the whole PPV

All backstage/alexa/elias stuff - crap, Hogan was funny in an unintentional way let down he didn't celebrate with Kofi. I expect to see backstage stuff.

205 match - same as usual, really good match to no reaction at all

Womens BR - crap

Raw tag - Not great but I enjoyed this. Revival aren't doing anything and the other tag team has the potential to be lulz for a few weeks.

Men's BR - crap

Lesnar Rollins - I enjoyed this and thought it worked well. Not great wrestling but it was entertaining and I'm glad it wasn't a 30 minute chore of a Rollins match where I had to sit through all his usual spots.

Styles Orton - Considering I thought this was going to be nothing I was pleasantly surprised. Orton putting in a tiny bit of effort is always nice as he can be great when he's not boring. Probably one of my favourite matches of the night.

Smackdown tag - Didn't quite live up to how much fun I thought it could be but it was good. Bit of a spot fest and no real story but that's fine. Enjoyable.

Shane Miz - Probably the most entertaining part of the whole night imo. The only reason I dislike the finish is because it extends the feud and Shane is awful in anything but matches like this where he is very good.

Women's tag - This was boring and pretty bad in ring too. Result made my day though.

Kofi Bryan - Really good not much else to say. I think they can do good things with the new day going forward with the belt, Bryan wont' suffer at all. Obviously Kofi isn't a long term champ but I don't see why every champ has to be.

Joe Rey - Meh, Rey was injured not much else they could do. I love Joe but they keep getting him so wrong I fully expect him to be built up and then lose everything as he has done since coming up.

Roman Drew - Considering it could have been great I think this was the worst match of the night. Boring match, meh predictable result and started a downfall of the night.

HHH Batista - Slow and crap. Few ok spots but so slow and stupid kickouts ruining them. Also some weird hardcore type spots that just came across as odd and not hardcore like ripping out some pathetic nose ring.

Corbin Angle - Rubbish match but I think the result could be used well.

Balor Lashley - Crap

Women's match - Pretty big letdown, never really got going for me and the ending was really bad.

So Meltz says the time and move were the planned finish of the womens match and Ronds botched by kicking out and the ref continued because that was supposed to be the finish. So Ronda botch plus bad decision by the ref. They should have improvised a finish when Ronda kicked out

I wonder if the ref saw her have her shoulders up at 2. He was on the left side of Ronda and iirc, it was mostly the right side of Ronda's back/shoulder that was up. It was clearly an accident by Ronda because Becky didn't have her hooked well.

In this very distorted view of the finish it looks like the ref doesn't have a good shot at Ronda's right side plus it doesn't look like he's actually looking at her.
