I'm gonna preemptively *****. I'm 1h16m through the first deep dive. This **** sucks. I'll give it a few more episodes but more like this and I just won't make it through the entire journey which is saying something because I've been through the entire library a handful of times.

Yeah, this WCCW stuff seems to unfortunately be a bust. Love TLF, but this is a rare misfire.

Yeah, I cringed last week when Jack said that this could go on for six months. This weeks episode is just kind of there. It's informative but not incredibly so and I miss the lols that Lapsed Vince brings.

I do, however, share the sentiment that JP had about Gary Hart. I was always scared of him as a kid. He seemed like an evil mofo to my 9 year old self. Him and Baron Von Raschke are the only two wrestlers I remember being afraid of when I was that age.

I hear you on the being scared thing. I’m a little older so instead of Gary Hart, it was the Wild Samoans. Those two scares the crap out of me as a small child.

As for Hart, I was very fortunate to live where I did growing up, because we had cable availability in the late 70’s and I was able to watch Georgia Championship Wrestling when it was on WTBS. This is where I first saw him with The Great Kabuki. I loved the green mist so I wasn’t frightened of him or Hart. I looked forward to seeing them. Also on a side note, I used to watch the Southwest Championship Wrestling on USA that they are talking about. The only two things I remember are seeing Tully Blanchard for the first time and the angle where The Sheepherders turned on Bobby Jaggers and left him bloody in the middle of the ring with the New Zealand flag over him.

Haven't listened to it in a long while but on occasion I do listen to the Don Tony & Kevin Castle Show.

Not a wrestling podcast, but Jake the Snake was on Joe Rogans podcast the other day. Really good listen. A little over 2 hours long.

I've been able to get on board and get some enjoyment out of the WCCW journey on TLF. It's certainly still their weakest history project, but it's becoming half-decent in the last couple of episodes.

I can't get into it but I don't think it's bad. I do wonder if it's because I wasn't a huge WCCW fan growing up so I didn't go through it. I did watch on ESPN after school but I remember just about none of the Von Erich stuff besides Fritz's heart attack angle. My favorite parts have been them slamming Gary Hart for his criticisms of everyone and taking credit for everything. Vince calling Fritz has been gold as well.

That was an amazing line. Same for Fritz saying he'd celebrate Kerry's death.

Bumping this thread to mention that from ~3h40m-4h20m of the latest TLF is dark and disturbing. Truly horrible.

Started the latest ep but haven't gotten that far yet. My curiosity is certainly piqued.

"Heaven needed a stickman" tribute to Gene was good.

"wrestling keeps a lot of wrestlers off the street", "wrestling is real life fantasy". I gotta say, the addition of newspaper readings has been great and Jack's great at finding stuff due to his profession. I feel like I've mentioned it before but idc, it's worth it.

Holy ****. “Awful” feels like a huge understatement.

After that episode, I have Fritz as a worse person than Benoit. To think Jack said this gets worse makes me .

There are some things that I'm trying to keep myself from getting spoiled on but I'm extremely curious. I have no idea how Gino dies and I assume that happens in the first half of 86 from what Jack said in this episode. I'm also curious of Chris's demise and no idea when, why, or how that happens.

Fantasy booking: Jack interviewing Kevin.

This is the video that was played during the cast:

I'm surprised it wasn't linked on their twitter though it is easy enough to find.

Gino was the first wrestling death that really got to me. Ibises I was around 12 or 13 at the time. I used to love watching him and reading about him the various magazines.

It's odd that the TLF guys exclusively shout out, "That's a t-shirt!" after an unfunny joke. I'm relatively sure that this pattern is still hitting at a 100% clip.

It's nice that those t-shirts he thinks of in the moment aren't actually made into t-shirts. One thing that's been irking me for weeks and possibly months now: Jack laughing before JP finishes his **** "x looks like love child of y plus z" jokes.

1985 has gripped me for the WCCW journey. At the end of part 3 when Jack's reading from ex-Austin wife's book, I was sure there was going to be a death. I felt relieved this wasn't the case. But next week we aren't so lucky.

Ha, I've remembered your gripe with the "love child" jokes as Jack has specifically gone out of his way to praise those during the past few months. I agree that those are never really funny, though they're the type of unfunny that I didn't notice that much either before you specifically put them on blast.

It's true that the t-shirts they actually do put out tend to be pretty funny.

R-A-S-S-L-I-N. That was good. That needs to be used again outside of the WCCW stuff but sparingly. Has longevity imo.

Finishing off this most recent TLF episode. I would need way more context (specifically the contract and the full complaint filed), but I've gotta say: the lawsuit they're scoffing so hard at doesn't sound that absurd to me from the summary.
