I just finished the Bruno tribute show. All 6.5 hours of it. When they announced this episode/project, I was quite disappointed because there's been a big break with WM happening in between and then this old stuff that I wasn't interested in. But god damn it, did Jack pull me in with the way he digs up everything he can find to put forth the best show possible. It doesn't seem like many, if any, here listened to the AWA journey but this Bruno tribute show is pretty great if you want to learn what wrestling was like back in the 60's-Vince Jr.. It's also really really funny.

I guess it's worth noting that wrt the Eric Bischoff cast that if you listened to TLF's Starrcade 1996 episode, there's almost nothing new revealed as Jack read a lot from Eric's book.

I’m currently listening to the Bruno show, and it’s been pretty great so far. With regards to the AWA series they did, I get why a lot people didn’t listen, but at least listen to all of part 1s in that series. Seriously fascinating stuff there

I love the spot starting at 2:28:40 in TLF episode 50, WWE IYH 4, with Dok Hendrix shilling cardboard cutouts of Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart.

Went to listen: When I heard JP's tone, I knew exactly what this was. Just incredible stuff.

I don't say or think this very often but...their last episode sucked. ECW was easily my favorite promotion as a teenager but I think all the TLF ECW shows have been meh to the max.

I'm currently in the middle of a chronological listen, chronological in terms of when the subject event occurred and not in terms of when TLF covered it. I slightly ****ed it up by forgetting to do the AWA first, but I decided to go ahead and do that series at the end as a prequel instead. Right now I'm on WrestleMania XII in 1996.

I thought about doing this as well. The one thing stopping me, which I admit is silly, is that if an episode chronologically occurred after a later one, I think a topic may not get full coverage because they already did it. If that makes any sense

This week on 83 weeks from Bischoff had the one ppv that I'm waiting on TLF to cover: Bash at the Beach 2000. I feel like they've covered every ppv where a major thing happens but this one. I also love hearing people rip on Russo and both co-chairs do a good Russo impression. Lapsed Russo vs. Lapsed Hogan will be gold!

LKJ, what you think of the reading of Diana's book @ SS 92? I thought that was one of the best things they've done.

If anything the tendency seems to be that some topics get covered more than once, like they'll bring something up as a new idea in multiple episodes. Obviously it makes sense that they can't possibly be expected to know if they're repeating themselves from conversations occurring, in some cases, multiple years before.

As you can tell by the length of their episodes, they're not exactly predisposed toward finding reasons to talk less about things.

BATB 2000 would definitely be a good one. Hadn't thought of that but you're absolutely right. Personally I'd like to hear their treatment of Undertaker vs. Undertaker from SummerSlam '94.

I enjoyed the read of Diana's book for sure.

I did think that the gag of calling Hulk Hogan "John Cena" throughout the entire 1996 Uncensored episode got pretty tiresome, especially with that PPV being fairly historic in its own way (as the pretty clear jump-the-shark moment of the first red-and-yellow Hogan run, and actually his last PPV before the heel turn).

Two things from the 1996 Hog Wild episode of TLF:

*That listener e-mail with the Lanny Poffo call was ****ing gold.
*Given those clips, I can't believe I didn't ever detect the fact that Heenan was increasingly plastered as the show went on. Very cringey to hear those clips as the show went on.

Quite a while ago I downloaded an episode of osw review as a podcast and listened to it... and it was pretty meh to me.

Just a couple days ago I watched an episode on YouTube,and it is fantastic! There is such a huge difference between the audio only and video version.

There are few subjects on which I would side with Lawler over Heenan, but one subject that I totally disagree with JP on: he says on multiple TLF episodes that he's disappointed that Lawler took Bret's side, after years of rivalry, when Bret turned heel in 1997. He lauds Heenan for remaining staunchly anti-Hogan regardless of Hogan's turn. Personally I think Heenan's announcing would have been much better if he reacted to Hogan like he reacted to Mongo joining the Horsemen, did a shameless about-face and pretended to have never hated Hogan to begin with. The Heenan character was a shameless weasel and not a Jesse-like man of principle; his stances should have always reflected that. Lawler similarly played a character of no real principle, and I think he got it right by suddenly becoming pro-Bret in his commentary.

100% agree. Chicken**** heel announcers with no scruples should always side with the heels regardless of history. In fact, they should take credit for it. "Bret Hart has finally seen the light of everything Ive told him about for years"

I will forever be a Heenan apologist so I'll say that it was quite different in that Heenan couldn't side with Hogan because he'd be siding with the NWO and he was always opposed to losing his job (kayfabe wise).

It’s easy enough for him to just jump to the nWo by taking the stance that he could see they were going to best WCW and take over. He took NJPW’s side over WCW at Starrcade 1995 because he saw something in it for him.

I may have a new favorite TLF character. Lapsed Savage doing Slim Jim commercial outtakes on the 93 KotR was some seriously funny ****. I had to pull the car over because I was laughing too hard. If you haven’t listened yet, please do l, you won’t be disappointed.

This KotR 93 episode (both) were pretty great and full of lols. Vince telling Bret that he's losing the belt to Yoko and Hogan winning afterward is ****ing gold.

Very much enjoyed those episodes too. I hear them occasionally bring up the question of where people went first when they first opened the Network, and KOTR '93 was actually my very first stop. Wanted to see that Bret-Perfect magic. Unfortunately on roll-out day there were major issues and it took a few days to get there, but that was still my random first destination.

I have recently decided to watch all of the RAWs from the beginning through at least WM 17 and then watch the PPVs as well. I’m not trying to power through them by any means, it will probably be a leisurely stroll that I may or may not finish. But anyway two weeks ago I watched this PPV and was actually surprised at how good it was. I just have this image of all WWF stuff being horrible between 93-95. I know that isn’t necessarily the case, it’s just the image I have in my head.

One thing I will agree with the guys on is being ok with Crush as champ at this time. He had that Vince look and was really over with the crowd. I know he doesn’t ever win it and I just watched the RAW where Yoko hits him with 4 Banzai Drops so I guess he will be gone for a while.

Yeah, KotR 93 is an awesome ppv.

When I was 12, I'd record every single show of WCW/WWF and ended up with a huge collection by the time I had no more time for it when I was 17. On one VHS tape, I put all the KotR qualifying matches on it and then the ppv itself. I watched this dozens of times. The Doink/Perfect matches were really good.

Just realized, but it seems like one missing item from the TLF catalog is the birth of Austin 3:16 at King of the Ring '96. They've covered the rise of Austin ad nauseum, but they didn't really get the birth of the real Stone Cold character.

Glad to at least hear the TLF guys mention during the Clash '88 episode that Bob Caudle has a fair bit of respect in the industry, given their love for lampooning him as if he was a complete joke. I had never really paid any attention to Caudle until I started watching the NWA/WCW back catalog during my adult years, so the fact that I like him isn't due to any sort of nostalgia for liking him as a kid.

I've got Shagger Lee Marshall as the worst TLF character. There are other throwaways like Helen Hart or Jim Barnett, but none are as absolutely grating as Marshall.

The elite tier is definitely Vince/Nash/Hogan in some order, and whoever is fourth has to be quite a ways behind that trio unless I'm missing a big one.
