That's why I picked it. Despite how it turned out, in the moment it was just so awful, the ultimate example of the fans getting **** on by Vince and company.

Loved IRM/SRM's reaction, though, from the WM28 thread:

Damn the Kiss Demon was my next pick. His graveyard match with Vampiro is amazing in all the wrong ways.

I know what I want to take, but I can't write it up because I can barely see my screen in this bright sunlight, and this pick needs to be unveiled with the write up so I'll pass for now until I can get home to do it

Disclaimer: I honestly thought that there would have been a ton of YouTube clips on this subject, but there wasn't, so my write up isn't going to be as good as I want it to.

Now with that out of the way, lets travel back in time to July of 1994. The business as a whole was in a cyclical decline. The WWF were in Baltimore for their yearly King of the Ring PPV. The big wigs at WWF decided that they needed that little something extra to help get more buys for the show. As they sometimes do, they decided to go with a celebrity. The story is, Kevin Dunn is a big football fan, so he came up with the idea of a local football celebrity. Well as many of you know, the Colts moved out of Baltimore about 10 years prior and the Ravens wouldn't be a thing for another two years. So they decided on an old Baltimore Colt that was relatively popular in 1994. Then for whatever reason, they decided to put him on commentary. WOAT Angle draft members and spectators, I present to you:

Spoiler:
Art Donovan at King of the Ring

Spoiler:
Wow! This was a disaster on a scale that is rarely reached by a professional wrestling promotion not named WCW. They decided to take an aging Forman NFL football player and put him on commentary. It was evident from the very beginning that he had zero knowledge of the business, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing if it's done properly. This was not done properly. He had no clue who any of the wrestlers were, had no idea what any of the moves were, and for whatever reason had an obsession with everyone's weight.

If YouTube had what I was looking for this would have been the spot where I would insert various clips of Donovan, but I couldn't even find the one where he asks "Who is the guy with the American flag?" He was referring to Lex Luger who had a flag on the chest of his T shirt. The best I could find is the ending of a Botchamania that had a mashup of his greatest hits.

Art O'Donnell had occurred to me, but his KOTR '94 just brings me pure joy and didn't really fit the spirit of what I've been drafting. That said, my next pick - nearly certain not to get sniped - is one that falls into a similar category of being sort of enjoyable just because of how ****ing stupid it is.

ive got one that i think blends the line of entirely stupid and awful yet occasionally enjoyable. ive done a terrible job of keeping up with where we are with all the skips tho, so i dont think its my turn yet?

I think something a lot of us felt when that match was upcoming was that it had the potential to be a great match because Sheamus had been having decent matches prior to this and the letdown that was that match was

Here it is, the worst WrestleMania match ever...

Spoiler:
Roddy Piper boxes Mr. T at WrestleMania 2

Full torture: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3b84kh

I watched this once for the WM review thread, and it was one of the most boring things I'd ever seen. I tried to watch it again here, and I just couldn't. So ridiculous, worked boxing matches are generally a bad idea but this took it to a whole new level. Really, the entire New York section of WM2 is an affront to entertainment, but sitting through all the other crap to see this...all the facepalms.

I think I may get some people defending this one, but I maintain it was terrible.

Spoiler:
Implemented from 2/24/2000 - 8/19/2002, the 24/7 rule for the WWE Hardcore championship resulted in 225 different title reigns by 43 different people. Crash Holly lead the pack with 22 separate title reigns.

The following people won the hardcore title during this time:
Johnny Stamboli
Christopher Nowinski
The entirety of the Mean Street Posse
Thrasher (I believe Mosh was unsuccessful tho!)
Pat Patterson
Gerald Brisco
Funaki
Godfather's Ho
Trish Stratus
terri
Shane

Sure, The Undertaker, Jericho, Kane, Show, and Kurt Angle also held it. I'm unsure if that's a point for or against my argument though.

So the way it worked was that as long as a ref was there, the champ could be counted out anywhere. Any place. Any time. This lead us to such great moments as:

among many many other terrible places

Now,this was absurd. Kind of in the "this is funny" way for a brief time. It wasn't funny for 2.5 years. It was downright godawful after a few months, and then it continued for years. Get out of here with this.

I select something that probably would otherwise go undrafted, but it would perturb me not to have it now that I thought of it, so here goes…

Spoiler:
If there's something that Scott Steiner knows better than math, it's politics.

The WWF decided that it would be a great idea to set up a political debate between Chris Nowinski and Scott Steiner about the Iraq war, then in its relative infancy. Nowinski, who was the heel by virtue of opposing the war, spit out the basic anti-war talking points that, at least in this instance, were obviously correct. (I mean, sorry to be slightly political, but I doubt anyone here is of a mind to defend that war at this point.) Many boos were had.

Steiner, in response, played the part of blindly patriotic pro-war caveman to perfection. I would quote from him directly, but it has that classic Scott Steiner delivery, and the text just does not do it justice. I highly recommend just clicking and watching.

My pick is The Great Debate.

"Do we go invade Syria now? North Korea?" ummmm....how prescient.

Never heard of this before. It seems in real bad taste with an actual war going on and Americans risking their lives. Needless to say, I was lapsed in 2002 through 2007ish. I missed all of this "risque" horse**** that they put on in an attempt to get AE ratings again.

24/7 Hardcore Championship was excellent. I loved it. We had our own 24/7 title in our family and I used to have my sister count my pins on my Dad in the morning before school and wake him up by celebrating my new title reign. I would usually lose it that night before bed, though.

Fond memories, and for that reason I can't hate it.

My next pick:

Spoiler:
Undertaker Sacrifices Dennis Knight

Spoiler:
So, yeah, the Ministry of Darkness was probably the worst time of Undertaker's career. They went full-on occult, and there were lots of cringe worthy moments. This was the worst. Previously on Monday Night Raw, The Acolytes had kidnapped Dennis Knight. Then came this:

After an interminably long, stupid poem, Undertaker walks over to Knight, says some nonsense words, apparently cuts his own wrist (obviously fake) and "bleeds" into a chalice and makes Knight drink it, renaming him Mideon. Then he takes the knife and drags it across Mideon's chest leaving a trail of blood in the shape of Underatker's symbol, but in such a fake way that it looks more like frosting a cake.

With my first pick I take:

In early 2000 WCW was going through a lot of changes. One of these changes was switching the classic logo to something they felt was more modern. Naturally they wanted to promote the new logo and changes in the company, so they decided to take out an ad in the USA Today. Of course like most things WCW not much though went into this. What they ran was the new logo with the caption "Looks Like Something A Bird Left On The Hood Of My Car." No mention of a revamp, WCW, or even wrestling.
