who the hell is going to win the Rumble? who the hell is going to win the Rumble?

I don't see Jericho being a legitimate threat no matter who has a title. Titles can also be dropped at the next big show too in February.

I'm assuming it has happened but I can't remember a single title change at the February ppv except for The Rock beating Angle in 2001 to face Austin at WM 17. Anyone member?

Jericho's definitely not a threat here. They're not going to put up this Rumble and have Jericho of all ****ing people win it.

I dunno. I think Jericho winning would be alright. Having the title on the line for Owens vs Jericho at WM would be better than Roman Reigns vs anybody for the title.

Plus it sets up lots of drama on Raw between the two. Jericho wins the Rumble and everyone assumes he will choose to challenge the Smackdown champion. But over a few weeks friction between them grows and he changes his mind to a massive face turn and pop.

Agreed. Jericho has zero chance. There is no way they would have Jericho/Owens as the main event at Mania.

Also I know it goes a ways back and isn't a conventional title change, but the Feb PPV before WM 13 in the fatal 4 way

Jericho shouldn't win as JeriKO have been basically Bulk and Skull from the second KO won the title. It really has been an aggressively awful reign.

I'll certainly count it. Just a major title shake-up post Rumble is what I was looking for. Of course 1997 was one of those and I feel weird that I missed that considering where LKJ is in the MNW thread.

Just thinking more about it and I remembered one of the best WM promos ever included the title change at the February ppv. The WM 26 trailer for Taker/HBK. HBK comes out of the bottom of the chamber and aids Jericho into beating Taker after SCM. Top 5 promo vid ever.

2010 Elimination Chamber had both Raw and Smackdown titles change hands between RR and WM.

EDIT: Slow pony.

meh didn't know the RAW title changed cuz I didn't look up, just remembered the promo for some reason.

I almost feel like d/l'ing the show to see wtf Batista winning the title right after Cena had won it was all about. Batista in the bank?

IIRC, Vince came out and said he had to fight Batista for the title right away because reasons. I'm pretty sure I thought it was really stupid at the time.

Rumble winner doesn't have to main event with two belts.

True but it's being advertised as the winner headlining WM

It's always been advertised like that, even during the original split. I'm pretty sure ADR curtain jerked the year he won the RR.

Jericho is probably the second best wrestler who has never won a Royal Rumble. (Among all wrestlers who have been employed by the WWE during the time period when there has been a RR.) And he has been the best thing on RAW for the better part of six months. The crowd would love it. I can easily see them giving him this win so he can cap off his career with one last title run.

Personally I wouldn't put a lot of stock in those odds, especially two days out. We have seen plenty of times where the odds shift dramatically 72, 48, 24, 12, and sometimes even right before showtime. The other thing is that with that particular wrestler, he gets bet on all the time. Last year when he was injured for both the Rumble and WM he had small odds to win both the Rumble match and the Andre Battle Royal

I think Jericho is still fairly high because that was an initial plan they toyed with. Agreed it's almost certainly not gonna happen

On the new favourite...

Spoiler:
I get that I'm an Orton mark in a forum filled with Orton haters, but honestly I'm totally fine with this.

The larger plan is for Orton/Bray at Mania, which finally gets Wyatt over as legit. So they are giving it to a full-timer, in order to get a future star over. Why not?

I guess also given there are so many good options here and yet Dadberg and Taker seem to have still been genuinely considered recently, my acceptance of people like Orton/Balor/Strowman has increased dramatically
