Was thinking the same thing.

Titleholder interferes in #1 contender match -> Authority figure announces 3-way has happened probably dozens of times.

Minor observation, but AEW is so refreshing in that the commentary team is 100% focused on putting over the in-ring product. I’ve cared about every match tonight in a non-insignificant way because of this fact.

I would think. Fans of WWF/WCW made tribal signs and such (e.g. "Vince is God"), but it never really made its way into company chants.

Not minor IMO. Quality of commentary has a massive effect on product watchability. Jim Ross's call was a big part of why I loved the opening tag team match last week so much.

Jon Moxley bounces off the turnbuckle and hits a clothesline.

There's something heartwarming about Moxley using a clothesline as a counter in a way that doesn't make me want put my ****ing head through a wall.

IIRC there was some hate ITT for Darby Allin using his skateboard. I think it’s awesome—he grew up steeped in skating culture. It’s basically where he learned to take all those ridiculous bumps.

Here’s my interview with Darby from last year:

Darby is amazing. And this match just got great.

That was really well-booked. Darby loses by submission and still comes out well ahead.

thanks for this

I'm pro skateboard, hasn't been done in awhile (so it's new essentially) and it's not boring like most wrestlers just walk to the ring.

I ended up watching NXT and forgot to record AEW, so I'm catching the end of the replay now I guess. I thought NXT's show was pretty great, a lot action but it didn't feel as numbing and tedious as it has for me recently. Their women's division also clowns on AEW's.

I find it sort of funny that Moxley resented doing "prop comedy" in WWE but now is going after Omega with brooms or whatever. But since AEW does it, it's awesome of course. (Also he gets to flip people off now.)

AEW: I'm impressed Darby didn't break his arms in that match, but there wasn't much else that really held my attention. I have absolutely no interest in their women's division.

NXT: Main event delivered. It looks like there's some depth to the women's division again. They made a big deal of some girl coming back who I've never even heard of though.

There was some good work on both shows, but nothing all that exciting or new. AEW is gonna have to do something other than the Inner Circle standing tall at the end next week.

The problem I have with that is that once a wrestler is at the top of his/her game and you are fully invested in that character they get moved to the main roster.

You have a valid point though. I just skipped through a couple recent episodes of NXT and the episodes were mostly just match after match after match. This appeals to a lot of you but it does not appeal to me. My favorite parts of weekly wrestling programs are the promos and the extra-curricular activity, rather than the actual matches. If AEW is light on this content they will lose me too. NWA is guaranteed to have lots of promos.

FWIW, I had watched some NXT episodes a few years ago and it never really grabbed me.

FWIW I’m not the biggest NXT mark. It’s okay. I just think it’s worth at least giving it a look, given how many are in love with it.

This weeks episode of AEW Dark on YT featured TYBs/Cody/Dustin vs. Private Party/Cima/T-Hawk. Very fun match. Nothing to go out of your way to see but enjoyable nonetheless.

A confession after that match: I'm becoming a fan of Cody. It makes me sick.

Tonight's episode of AEW features:

Pac vs. Moxley

Private Party vs. Lucha Bros.

SCU vs. Dark Order

Best Friends vs. Young Bucks

Tonight on NXT:

Roderick Strong vs. Keith Lee vs. Dijakovic

Bianca Belair vs. Rhea Ripley

Finn and Pete Dunne will also be on the show.

Listening to Observer radio and it seems that due to the reception of Janela vs. Omega on Dark last week, they'll be having a rematch tonight. Kinda interesting way to use Dark as a test run for matches like that.

I find that ... odd.

Clearly it won't end clean. Why would you have Omega go over the same guy clean twice that quickly?

At NXT tonight. Sitting right next to Beth and Mauro. First time I’ve ever heard commentary live in real time.

This'd be amazing with the losing streak they're playing up.

I mean I could easily see a dirty Janela win due to Moxley shenanigans.

Nearly certain Luchas won't lose. They teased a Luchas/SCU final a couple weeks ago.
