What's with wrestlers all trying to one up each other with horrible tattoos. Cody might be the new leader in that category though.
He's supposed to be the biggest kayfabe babyface on the show right now (at least at the top of the card), it's hard to cheer for someone who appears to have something horrible growing on his neck.
mox champ is whatever I guess but he won't give quite the rub to the next guy that jericho would've, but everyone else is too soon still I think or it's cody's neck tattoo so bleh.
AEW with a huge win in the ratings Wednesday night, and well deserved. Great episode of Dynamite. Considering the parameters they really knocked it out of the park, using the talent they had on hand perfectly and really making it all work.
Yeah, AEW definitely set the model for what these no-audience shows should look like. I also find their fans annoying so it was easier for me to appreciate the talent without them chanting "this is awesome" or "a-e-dub" after every move.
My only concern is I don't know how safe it all was to have that many people around the ring and in relatively close proximity to each other. I think WWE was being a lot more cautious and had probably considered some of their ideas. Wrestling in general seems like it's on borrowed time and who knows if there will be live shows next week.
a lot of this is just plain silly subtle **** like when he comes out with pants on and release the hounds! (there's a few more subtle things if you're paying attention)
also brodie lee still having that beard but his character is vince mcmahon just looks off.
Jericho pouring the glass and then drinking out of the bottle will always be funny to me. I can understand why people don't like this Jericho/Hardy stuff but I think it's hilarious and entertaining and I'm loving it.
I'm not feeling Brodie's gimmick at the moment but he's awesome and I love that they're pushing him so I'm keeping an open mind.
Overall I think AEW has been really good this year.
I am sort of in the opposite boat -- was really enjoying AEW's recent run of shows up until Matt Hardy and Brodie Lee came in with their goofy post-WWE "look at what you're missing out on, Vince" gimmicks. I think both have been awful.
Brodie has a lot of potential but his gimmick is a total cliché and I don't think it fits him at all. And the Matt Hardy stuff feels way past its expiration date and even at its best it was very stupid. I think it was a huge mistake to give such prominent spots to more WWE midcard guys.
Dexter Lumis is kinda awesome. Having a good unique look and a character that easily lends itself to storylines, as well as his wrestling style, has me pretty high on him.
Yeah, though it was a bit strange using him in a face position. Couldn't remember where I'd seen him before so I had to google. The former Samuel Shaw did the stalking angle with Christy Hemme in TNA about a decade ago.
Not a fan of Candice's new look, but I doubt the point was to make her more attractive to me.
Wow, I'm not caught up on NXT so I was like wtf is Dexter Lumis, funny that it's Samuel Shaw who's entire look and gimmick was a rip off of... Dexter. That Christy angle was horrible but I always thought that he was good on the mic and in the ring so it's cool he's getting a run in NXT. Just don't turn him into a stalker please.
