Firing it up on the network now.

No memory of it, but Slim Jim sponsors it so it must be good. Live from Las Vegas, here we go go go!

Dusty Rhodes and Bobby Heenan on commentary, along with Tony Schivone.

They're wearing black shirt sleeve polo shirts like they all work at a T Mobile store.

First match is yuji nakata (?) vs ultimo dragon.

There are a whole lot of NWO shirts in the crowd.

I assume this is at the Orleans arena, but not sure yet.

Oh snap, Raven with the flock and wandering down the stairs in the crowd.

Also, not the Orleans.

Double also, there are 4 (!) separate slim Jim logos on the in-ring mat, AND the ring posts are covered with red and yellow canvas to make them look like slim Jim packages. lol.

Nagata wins in a match that went too long imo, but up until the finish the crowd seemed excited.

Nothing came of the Raven stuff yet. I guess they just got seats? I think that was their gimmick at the time, but we shall see.

Next up--

An interview segment for WCW audio dot com (?) with disco inferno talking about his match vs a woman later tonite, Jacqueline.

www.wcwwrestling.com for real audio!

Next match is another Japanese guy (Gito?, pronounced ghetto) vs the lion heart chris Jericho! Complete with actual Pearl Jam knock off music!

Just kidding, they dubbed in the wwe theme, but they did a good job of it.

Dusty tells us chris Jericho is on the doorstep to stardom. He is correct, albeit off by a few years.

The ref is a middle aged man with a big belly, wearing a bow tie. I like when the ref looks like a normal person.

Jericho attempted a tip ripe frankensteiner and botched it badly. The commentators cover without skipping a beat by saying gito (?) "had it well scouted."

Jericho ends up winning with the lion tamer. Fun match.

There are exactly two things I remember from HH 97. One is fairly obvious and the second is something I can't spoil . I have no idea what the main event is though I imagine it's Hogan vs. someone.

"Ghetto" is spelled "Gedo".

In the post match highlights they showed the botch first! So weird.

Now on to Mean Gene in the locker room with Debra McMichael. She's awful.

Steve Mongo McMichael interrupts. He's also awful, and looks like Steven Segal.

Next match is Rey Mysterio in an odd purple outfit vs Eddie Guerrero.

Rey is wearing a mask and has another one on a piece of string around his neck, not sure what the deal with that is. He gave it to a kid ringside before the match started.

Eddie is the cruiserweight champ (?-- he has a belt but they didn't seem to ever say what belt it was).

Update: they're at the MGM Grand Arena.

I think the main event is Hogan vs Piper, possibly in a cage. And you're right-- it's the MGM arena.

Rey's wearing a purple bodysuit that has black trunks painted on them.

He looks kind of like the 1960s batsman tv show Riddler.

Match is pretty exciting; lots of power moves from Eddie and flying from Rey. Announcers putting it over, which is nice.

There's a guy in the crowd with a white sweatshirt with papa shango airbrushed on it.

So so cool looking. That thing is awesome and the dude looks to be having more fun than anyone else in the arena.

Eddie is so awesome in this division. All his moves are so aggressive-- he throws these guys around so so hard. It's great.

Rey with the pin, new champion.

Crowd and announcers go wild.

Thumbs up in this one.

...but after the pin, Eddie beats up Rey a little more to show him who's the boss.

Mean Gene shills for the hotline (number no longer active!), saying "this click added a new member, call me to find out who!"

Cut to the next segment, the NWO locker room. It's Hogan and Bischoff, with Eric looking like a douche. It's in black and white and super boring. Eric is saying Hogan can't wrestle tonite because it's not safe for him, I guess because Sting keeps harassing him.

Mongo McMichael vs Alex Wright with Debra, which is apparently a surprise opponent (?).

Alex does the stupid dance. I have zero interest in this. Time to find some liquor in my house.

Mongo looks like a dude that used to work out and doesn't anymore. Kind of had a weird flat chest and skinny arms.

FWIW, so far the crowd is into this.

Also Raven and the flock are just watching the show holding up signs.

I guess my one obvious one wasn't obvious which was the Rey/Eddie match. I'd put that up there as top 5 in WCW history. I don't have a second. I got confused to the ends of HH 96 and HH 97. Piper comes out at the end of HH 96. No wonder I didn't remember the main event of this one

Mongo McMichael hits a tombstone piledriver for the assumed win, but out of nowhere Goldberg shows up, hits the spear and jackhammer, pulls Alex Wright on top of Mongo and that's the match.

Afterwards Goldberg decks Wright, then spears and JHs him. It's unclear why.

Goldberg steals Mongo's super bowl ring.

...Folks, you cannot make this stuff up.

I have no knowledge of anything with regards to this show, so each minute is a surprise to me. I was watching Nitro at this time though.

The Eddie / Rey match was awesome, no doubt.

Okay, back stage segment in black and white with macho and Elizabeth talking about his match with DDP.

He has "snap into it" on the back of his jacket. lol. Macho looks/sounds crazy, as usual, liz looks high on pills.

Disco out now. He's the television champ and would later become a buffoon on twitter, although no one watching at the time knew that.

It's a non-sanctioned match vs Jacquelyn. She has huge cans. Cans means terts, right? Not ass.

Who won the WSOP ME in 97? Was that huck seed? Is he in attendance?

This match is mostly disco running from her. Crowd seems oddly into this.

The match is set up so disco never hits her, and so that I, unrelated, have no interest in it.

It's so loud it feels piped in, but when she decks him the crowd goes nuts.

Jacquelyn wins a needlessly long match. Crowd liked it. I didn't. Whatever.

Next up: NWO Curt Hennig out in a Ric Flair robe with the sleeves cut off. He's got a belt, but again the announcers don't say what it is.

Flair sprints to the ring as soon as his music hits.

Announcers finally say it's a fight for the US Title.

I'm pretty checked out during this match. Crowd is surprisingly loud still.

Lots of outside the ring fighting.

I found the hidden shooters of vodka I keep in the garage, though, so I'm still here. Probably gonna call it after this match and pick it up again tomorrow.
