Like Savage v. Steamboat, Bret v. Owen is a tremendously strong #1 seed that has only given up a total of one vote in the entire competition to date.
Owen Hart had hung around as a jobber for a few years in the WWF, just a generic babyface who was pushed as the Bret Hart’s little brother. In Survivor Series 1994, the Hart brothers took on
Jerry Lawler Shawn Michaels and his knights of the squared circle. Owen was the only one to get eliminated; he blamed Bret and tempers flared. They had a fight but made up, and they decided to team up to try to win the tag titles. At the Royal Rumble, they lost to the Quebecers when Bret Hart could not continue in the match, infuriating Owen to the point that he kicked Bret’s leg out of his leg. This match was the result.
This match, which opened WrestleMania X, is an all-time classic. It is in the race for Bret Hart’s finest match, which obviously says a lot.

Flair vs. Funk just barely vanquished an awfully strong Austin vs. HHH 2/3 falls match in an OT matchup in the first round. It’s no small brag to have eliminated that match. It then slipped by Flair v. Sting by a narrow margin of two votes. To have gotten here by a grand total of three votes is kind of amazing.
Ric Flair and Terry Funk put on a couple of all-time classics, and this was one of them. It was a world title match and the blowoff to the feud in which one side would have to say “I quit” for the match to end.
VOTING ON THIS MATCH IS NOW OPEN. POLLS WILL CLOSE AT 10:24 A.M. EST ON THURSDAY THE 9TH.
