Punk retaliates showing the gash down his arm as his explanation that he did indeed go through hell and still wound up on top. You get into a bit of an exchange about respect, and how Mick doesn't respect Punk. Punk challenges Foley in a standard survivor series match - with each picking a team - ending with Punk discussing how he's going to eliminate the rest of Foley's team so that he can beat Foley down as long as he wants.
The teams are introduced as Punk, Miz, Rhodes, Sandow, ADR vs Kofi, Orton, Bryan, Kane, and - in a shocking twist declared by "I never said I had to be on the team" - rather than Foley: Ryback.
Elsewhere, Vickie and Dolph have been putting AJ through hell about an alleged "affair" (lack of better word even though it's not) with talent during her GM stint. This causes AJ to have to resign, Vickie is put in charge as some non-gm gm, and AJ has to plead for a spot on the active roster. Vickie throws AJ in a match with Beth Pheonix, AJ beats her, Vickie comes out and restarts the match for no reason, and Beth beats AJ down for the win. Vickie cackles, then fires Beth for not beating her the first time.
Meanwhile, the name of the person allegedly being involved with AJ is leaked and is none other than JEONNNNNNN CEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNAAAAAAAAA. Cena is irate and denies the claims, promising AJ he will set the record straight. He denies it to Vickie and Dolph, but Vickie has video of Cena asking her out in the ring (which was a random aside in an earlier promo), pictures of AJ/Cena at dinner, video footage of them getting into an elevator in a hotel, video footage of aj sneaking into someones room, and footage of cena popping his head out of a door (which was shot at a different angle) putting the do not disturb sign on his door.
At the last ppv, Cena was doing a Q and A before the ppv when this matter came up. He denied it, saying they were just having dinner, they were staying at the same hotel, and that the different angles indicate that wasn't the same room at the same time. Dolph comes out, they exchange words, Cena challenges him to a match, Dolph declines, Cena beats him up and throws him out of the ring.
And that's how we have ended up with:
Punk/Cena/Ryback for the wwe title
and
Dolph/ADR/Rhodes/Sandow/Barrett vs Miz/Orton/Kofi/Bryan/Kane
